Thanks for having me along. I'll try to stay on the trail next time. 😂
Better for watch time if you don't. 😂
what an absulte gem of a video!! beautiful trail , beautiful riding !
I know you have said this before but that ride was epic. Good rhythms bro. 🤙
The trails up in BC are so gorgeous. River/stream crossings, trees, etc. Definitely on my bucket list.
Man I haven't ridden Neds in 8-10 years probably? Looks like it's time to head back! Great video as always :)
It's definitely time!
Awesome video, the quality is superb! Those trails are epic, I haven’t had the opportunity to ride anything like this yet. Would be like a dream.
Great video dude, crystal clear vision. Love this kind of riding. 👏👏
Great video Dale! Congrats on the new sponsors bud!
Amazing trail. Beautiful vid. Great riding. Killin it Dale🤙🏻
Despite inconsistent messaging, CBC is still officially CLOSED for the winter season. Trailforks reports alone can be inaccurate and misleading on trails that see this kind of traffic since anyone can post them. Please refer to the footnote on this webpage for official trail status and stay off until Metro gives the green light for the summer! www.metrovancouver.org/services/parks/parks-greenways-reserves/lower-seymour-conservation-reserve.
Not to be overly judgmental, as I've certainly been guilty of dropping in to the odd closed trail in years past ... but I order to shuttle up to CBC this past weekend, you had to drive past the huge yellow sign with black lettering that clearly states "CBC closed". Pretty unmissable. Being that the sign is posted by BC Parks, within the park boundary, one has to conclude that takes precedence over any 'inconsistent' messaging from a crowdsouced app like Trailforks!
@@bikemanic Metro (LSCR) is the landowner, not BC parks. There was a lot of other information out there when this was filmed (such as local builders riding CBC and sharing stories, a big group shuttling CBC publicly for the official Ned's opening ride, and designated official reporters on Trailforks marking it as open), and we didn't shuttle. It's time to move on and use this as an educating moment on how to accurately verify trail conditions through ONLY the official LSCR link above.
@@DaleStone there is also a huge sign at the entrance. Filming it for a big audience isn't the same as others just riding it. Hopefully it's a learning experience.
@@hummer694life Jerry, please refer to our Facebook conversation on how trail signs are not always encompassing of a trail's actual status (ex: The Hydrocut). Whether or not you agree with my justification based on the available information is up to you, but this is no longer (and truthfully never has been) a productive conversation together. If you truly know that a trail is closed then I agree that it is as simple as not riding it in the first place.
@@DaleStone As I said, I was not trying to be judgmental but rather open a respectful discussion. I don't think "time to move on" and "use this as and educational moment" are consistent with each other. Also, CBC pretty much straddles the boundary of Mt Seymour Park and the LSCR and thus some parts are in the BC Parks domain. Neds is, of course, entirely within the LSCR.
FYI, I spent a lot of time working on the first revival of CBC back in the early 2000s, when Jeremy Power was leading the refurbishment as part of NSMBA work, so I'm very familiar with the boundaries and ownership issues.
What's important to remember is that much of the upper part of CBC is in a riparian zone, and thus opening the trail isn't a simple "snow is gone, yay, let's ride" decision. The soil is saturated in spring and needs time to drain and become stable before it opens - as determined by the land managers.
Insane quality this!
And congrats on being officially sponsored by Onyx! And more to announce? Wow!
What, really? That’s great Dale. The only reason I know of (and want) Onyx hubs is because of you. Onyx made a wise choice of Ambassador.
Looks so rad. You’re lucky to ride those everyday!
Agreed!
Awesome riding and awesome trail, good stuff man!
Nice riding. Glad to hear it’s not just me sketched out by TNT in the wet! There actually was a “NS Ripper” race (precursor to the Fiver series?) on TNT 15 years ago or so. It was in the dry though so everyone survived 😊
That would have been insanely fun, like the ladies only fiver that caused a stir haha.
I'm here for Steve! 😅
So jealous. I would love to ride there someday!
That was a great lap, Dale.
Sick video as always Dale! I’ve been waiting for someone make a video on Updated Ned’s
I've been waiting for the news that it was open for ages!
Your riding just made any trail look like a blue flowy one haha
It's unbelievable that a) you were sight-reading that, and b) are you sure you're not on an ebike? 😜
love your videos dale and cant wait for new ones(ps braden is my teacher)
Your videos are beautiful. More people seem to be changing to some kind of fish-eye lens recently (360?]. But I much prefer the look of your videos - it just looks more realistic to my eyes.
And also, by the way, you do a really nice job of choosing great light for your videos. I don’t know if that means riding early, or at dusk? But the sun and light in your videos is really inspiring.
Thanks for the lighting comment, it's definitely something I look (and plan) for to really make the footage pop! 🙂
Frog cheer squad @ 14:00
another great video.
Pls do the EWS 100. I believe in you Dale!!!!!!
Haha we will see... 👀
Rode the same route today as well. I used to love the old Neds, but I also kind of like the new one.
Same same, but flipped!
"I dont do blind jumps", you and me both ! Even more so with my mediocre jumping skills :')
Surprised you didn't do one of the Ned's Fivers, or a Fiver with Bottle Top. I only used a Bottle Top a few times as it's a pain to finish there. It was in the Twenty Fiver last time we did that.
Yeah never, haha. I definitely remember volunteering at the Bottletop tag out a couple of years back, so I guess I was just (conveniently?) injured or out of town for all of them!
the first drop on Ned’s can be rolled, tried it today.
Now thats some good ridin' what camera did u use?! w
Ned’s looks like it is in my zone. Somewhere in the mix with CBC, Marvin and Rupert maybe?
Sounds about right! A solid blue at most.
And this is how I find out CBC is open. I should have stayed here and ridden this instead of skiing at what's left of Whistler.
Been waiting for Ned's to re-open! (Was sneaking into CBC quite a bit over the fall last year) But...broke my shoulder skiing so it'll likely be 2024 before I ride it. Sigh. Which is why it was so great to see the whole line from CBC right on down in Technicolour here! Cheers. Looks so super smooth and fast and flowy (big step up from the jangly rock bed it had become). But that might just be the rider... ;) Thanks for the great vids.
W
Love you
Just curious if you ever have or ever do ride clipless pedals?
Never tried them before, I refuse!
@@DaleStone Remy rides clips 😎
Would you ever ride a double black on a hardtail?
I have several times before, and would do again if I had one!
Always depends on the type of trail, high speed DH trails are not that fun because of said speed, slower trails are good tho :)
A normal sight in Vancouver.
It’s a great ‘new’ trail, but I’d argue that it’s no longer really Ned’s. I’ll miss the old creekbed and the arm-pump.
Yep, that I can agree with. We all have to find a new torrential downpour compatible trail.
what, I thought cbc was closed?
Trailforks lists it as open, and it was shuttled for the Ned's opening ride.
how often do you think you need to upload to grow on youtube doing mtb content, I have another channel where I upload biking content and i upload once a week, but I dont know if it is enough
As often or not often as you like, just make good content.
The trails groomed to much. Your camera is beautiful though. Really nice to watch.
I think it's groomed just right. 😅
Smooth riding as always, but trail closure is not a thing anymore, right? 😉
Tons of people, including three NSMBA builders, a major OEM and the group that shuttled to officially open Ned's, seemed to be confused. I'd avoid until clarified by the LSCR now. 🤷♂️
@@DaleStone I'm not talking about ned's 😉
ned's is indeed open and a really nice trail. I miss the river bed style but its a good trail.
To be clear I was also not talking about Ned's haha. Ned's is open and it is sick!
@@DaleStone means the signs are not put up by the nsmba and the closure is from the landowner/district or whoever is in charge of this specific area?
@@northshoregruni correct, but as stewards of the trail network it is also a reasonable assumption to take the lead of what people with the NSMBA tag on Trailforks say/do, which has been inconsistent.
100000$ union workers.
That should re-name the trail as it does not resemble the old crazy awesome flat out janky trail..what a bummer
It's still Ned's, it's just better. 🔥
@@DaleStone Not better. It's lost everything that made it Ned's. Now it's just another trail that will get a massive amount of traffic. You killed it for a first ride sight unseen.
A small-but-vocal minority said the same about CBC last year, and I've ridden it more since then than ever before. To each their own. 🙂
@@DaleStone CBC was in bad shape with a lack of maintenance and was really falling apart. The refresh was needed. It still feels like CBC.
Until I ride it, I'm also not saying that it isn't a good trail. It just seems to lack everything that made it Ned's. Akin to the rework of Expresso. Very little of the original trail exists.
Yes, I'm an old curmudgeon still riding 26" wheels remembering the old days
@@seanf688 Neds used to be loamy.... it's good to spread out the people to new trails. Old Expresso is still there but of course no one fixed/maintained it.
