If you’ve still got it you should steam off the tape, hold it over the spout of a boiling kettle and it’ll melt the glue and you can peel it right off. That’s what I used to do with postage stamps.
Using a hair dryer against the tape will loosen the adhesive and allow you to take it off without ripping the paper. I've done it several times without damaging paper surfaces.
I feel his pain. I’ve got a rare piece of coal salvaged from the Titanic debris field in a small gold coin & my grandfather (who bought it for me) almost cut it out.
Truly wonderful but cursed ships, no matter the time or place! 😅 You all seem to have such a great family and, it takes a lot to share something like this! 😊 Also, Gotta love the “It’s Always Sunny” reference! 😄
If the tape is still there; after it ages you can use a hair dryer on the tape, it will warm up the glue and you will be able to remove it. In paper restoration tape is a constant enemy... and this is one way of dealing with it. Acetone can also be used but you need to be careful... use a cotton swab.
It was an accident. Try melting the glue of the tape with steam. Better yet, have Sam do it. I've done something similar with an important document myself, and that's how I removed the tape. But you have to be very careful. The artifact is old. (Jan Griffiths).
im sure you should feel real bad at that moment, you must understand that kind of things are easily to break, but please tell me did you guys fix it? i really need to know. :)
I'm sorry but I dont forgive those artifacts are rare to come by and now that I think of it your not hurting sam your hurting history and rms Olympic her self no offense

Model, real, or both? I'm into N-scale modeling. Have been since the late 70s. I like real trains too, but where we live, there is no railroad. I miss hearing trains go by. (Jan Griffiths).
Its ok Rachel!
Hi historic travels.😀
Ouch! I wouldve been pissed tbh.
@Casey Gabriel It was a total accident.
Hi I just want to say your channel is great

Came over from Historic Travels. What a nice, loving family.

So true it's a great stamp collecting trick as well.
It hurts because he was so happy
Right.. really sad.
I literally just got sick to my stomach. 🤢 That was one of a kind. 😓🥺

That sinking feeling...
Oh man, that's brutal...
100 year old paper and the packaging tape always wins...
Nooooo!!!!
You are the sweetest family!!
Indiana Jones: It belongs in a museum!
Awww no way?! 😬😬 I can see it was a genuine accident. What an amazing gift though 🤔🚢😮 an actual artifact... Awesome!!

Olympic wasn't cursed though, that's why people called it Old Reliable. But yeah, her sisters were damned to eternity xD
@@igorrodrigues7382 olympic was an ocean liner not a cruse ship
@@kimberlyfitts6141 and? Tell me something I don’t know.
The video isn’t about cruise ships btw.
@@kimberlyfitts6141 He didn't say it was?
@@RaccoonKCD ok I miss read it sorry I thought it said cruse ships not cursed ships

Awwww savage! Bless you didn't mean it obviously, these things happen 🙏 🙌 👏
Your brother should have given us a greater look at his Olympic treasures!

Imagine if Rachel riped the decoloration of independence 😂😂😂
I'd cry 😭
@@Rachel_Pence same 😅
Wish my family cared this much about my hobbies 😢
I was completely focused on Maple Leaf cookies from Trader Joe’s, love them😂. Seriously, that was awkward. But a harmless mistake.
Oh dear poor sam but what a great birthday present
I am not clear. What happened ?
some tape got stuck to a very old and rare piece of paper.
@@DerpyPossum thanks mate 👊
It could be worse, I thought you were going to knock a bunch of maple syrup on it or something. Then you’d have to throw it all away.
Paper work survived 100 years intact, Rachel damages it in 5 minutes. I am sure Sam will forgive you, but you may want to sleep with one eye open lol.
im sure you should feel real bad at that moment, you must understand that kind of things are easily to break, but please tell me did you guys fix it? i really need to know. :)
AHHHHHH. I feel terrible for both of you..
That is one piece of history down the drain lol
That kinda makes me feel sad😞 but we all now that it was a accident so it’s ok 👍🏻
No worries!!
Well, if this isn't a metaphor of historic preservation programs in the US! 😂
lol I'm sorry!! haha
Is the tape still stuck on the paper?
yes, we're afraid to touch it, one day we are going to have a restorer look at it to see if they can help.
@@Rachel_Pence ohh ok, good luck👌
Well that’s okay! :D mistakes happen 😁👍 I have done that before with a picture before I felt bad but the tape end up coming off 👍👌🏻😁
No...use heat to dissolve the glue 🙄
What an amazing gift to receive, whoever gave you that must really care about you! Keep up the amazing work an historic travels, love that channel!!
Hey there
steam it out - tape will get loose - proper thing to do with a ticket from a steam ship :)
a hundred years then rachel gets it 😂
da dog is sad
It's all a part of its long history now 😆🙈
The maple cookies y’all have great taste
They're the best!!! haha :)
Nooooo this episode really hurt me I got artifacts and it made me feel really bad am feel horrible and it hurt me on the inside

WTF NOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOF FOR ME REEEEEEEEE
I’m subbed now! :)
Sam might not be ok but I forgive you
A hair dryer should work if you are carefull you have to be really careful
Look up the time Johnny Carson ruined a Woodstock three day event ticket. That was really painful for a lot of baby boomers (just fyi)
So sad!! It's nice to keep historic documents nice and pristine!
noooooooo why
I'm sorry but I dont forgive those artifacts are rare to come by and now that I think of it your not hurting sam your hurting history and rms Olympic her self no offense
Well with tape on it. Now you have your own Family history story to go with it right...
ew... a bit too much cringe
