So sad but have you notice that everyone has smile and also everyone has nice clean clothes. They are living the best way they can and I admire that.
@jensen It's not really sad they're happy at least they eat three times a day these poor people living in slum area. They make money by selling recycling items like bottles, aluminum cans, newspapers and many more. They don't sit around.
Only a fool traveling through would label them as poor or in poverty… comparing his life to theirs.
they are tax FREE..one of the main reason of sadness
Why dont they clean up after themselves. That's just nasty. Just because your poor doesn't mean you have to be nasty
@@tstones5187 True. Did you see the squalor they were living in? The area beneath them looked like sewage plant waste.
No matter where he went there was always someone with a smile on their face.Filipinos are incredibly resilient.
What's the population of the residents?
They're renowned for the best cuisine Global scale. They should well accommodated like Singaporeans. They're corrupt free nation, so they deserve extra care from anyone that cares, and not being hypocritical. Just assist as you want if you care, not criticise. Thieves are receiving medals... and respect at least they humble themselves with dignity and are faithful...pushed to rock bottom by circumstance beyond their control, they can't give up now.
@@CharlesOnikosi-ql5sb The population of the Philippines is 104 million.
i agree. despite the wealth of countries like s.korea/japan, i see so much more sad faces there
smile does not always mean something good. I've lived here for a long time and I know what that smile means. Many times disappointed by such a smile
I work and live in Singapore, and I've met a number of Filipinos along the way. They're the nicest, kindest and happiest people I've met in my life. Very accommodating and kind.
And some of the most arrogant, meanest and vilest people are the super rich.

@@nanbutinanquibotiqui Do you see the problem in this thinking? Poor means Friendly and Rich means arrogant. But you never stop and thought that friendly can be submissive and arrogance can be assertiveness.
No they aren't friendly people.
I was sick and admitted in the hospital I have a trouble hearing and those Philippines nurses laughing at me when they asked me any questions. They so rude.
@@derrickthai9472 maybe, you assumed too much. They were probably laughing at tsomething else and not you.
I am in UAE and have seen so many Philipino People here. Out of curiosity I explore few article about them and it was saying they are very very good in hospitality. They are very soft spoken, humble people. After 10 hr and sometimes 12 hr of work at shopping center, i could not find a single mark of stress on their face. I do have too much love and respect to Philipino friends.
After watching this video , it has increased further.
"After 10 hr and sometimes 12 hr of work at shopping center, i could not find a single mark of stress on their face." They have no choice! They are not superhuman. They desperately need jobs to support their families back home. If they demand shorter hours or better pay, they'd be sent back home in the next plane! There's always someone from The Philippines, Bangladesh, Pakistan or india to take their place.
And they use them as slaves in UAE
@@bigcol4932 yes even Africans too
@@tuberhubris4154 I sort of agree- there’s 2 sides to it however. Saying they should not leave their home country and go and work elsewhere? Or maybe improve conditions in the places they go to so they can send back more money?
It’s never a straightforward answer.
The place does have issues with bribery and corruption which doesn’t help.
I’m from the Philippines and I was humbled at where I came from. We’ve always been family oriented. They maybe poor by our standards but they’re happy! Made me realize that as long as my basic needs are met everything else is wanting not needing, there’s a Big!difference. Appreciate what you have
Hello from Pakistan, yeah i find cheerful people its surprise to know people even live like that having smile on their face. By the way what was the bottle in that video (Pepsi/Cocacola )?
No human should live like this in 2024 !! The leadership of the country is too blame.
Behind that smile, has a big problem they keep. Even the homeless in the side of the road, if you talk to them they smile, even there life is so difficult. But they still smile.
@@tax905972 . . . The "leadership" in the Philippines is to blame over the past sixty years . . . Nothing can be done about it because the Filipino people will not vote these miscreants out of office.

Filipinos are the most friendly and family oriented culture in the world. It's a shame the Catholic Church has such a tight grip on them, taking their offerings, sending it to the Vatican, and doing nothing for them in return.
Filipinos are some of the most welcoming and humble people I know from experience living in Hawaii and this right here shows the true and loving heart these people have even when only having the least. God bless the filipino people!🙏

This is a reminder to wake up grateful.
@@cruksi7001 BEING grateful for everything is always good it humbles you that you can have it worse and to be happy with what you have so many people are greedy and are never satisfied and always want more and wonder why they end up miserable theres a reason that there smiling and have very little there value isnt in materialistic things but family instead
I completely agree. At least we are not experiencing what folks of this community are encountering in the lowly place.
Grateful for what exactly? Europeans, Chinese, Japanese and so on, would have already built entire towns if they had to live like those people, no matter how poor they are... I don't feel sad or sorry for these people. They have SO MANY resources there, with hard work and time, they could build entire civilization and town... Back in 2013 or 2014, in Japan 3 whole towns were completely flattened with ground, there was not a single building left standing for hundreds of miles, the whole thing looked like a movie, there were over a 100,000 buildings destroyed - BUT GUESS WHAT?! - all the people there, over 95,000 people, including over 20,000 people from other towns around, got together and IN JUST TWO YEARS, they completely cleared out hundreds of miles of ground to build new foundations for new buildings and houses and by the end of 2017, in just 3-4 years, they have completely rebuilt over 98,000 buildings and homes, roads, walkways, stores and so on and so forth... ALL from nothing! Yeah... Same story with earthquakes and other natural disasters that happened over the past 400 years in China, Japan, Greece, Italy, Spain, Turkey, Bulgaria, Romania, Croatia and many, many other countries... Back when there was no media, internet or outside help... All these countries, all these different people rebuilt ENTIRE CITIES AND CIVILIZATIONS down from quite literally nothing!
Meanwhile you have people like these in Philippines, India or Africa... Watching these people is like watching those people in Africa, sitting on so many resources they could easily build entire towns, entire civilizations... And yet they live worse than Europeans did during bronze age in 3,000 BC and are waiting for someone else (usually Europeans) to help them because they are too lazy and too stupid to help themselves.
SCINTILLAM DEI crushed the atheist argument that God is evil for letting suffering exist.
Poverty is every where in the world even in New York , LA and all the big cities in the world.

Nice to hear from someone who appreciates hardships experienced by Filipinos.
Best comment ever. Despite the poverty, I enjoyed seeing people smiling.
I’m a filipino but never seen a community like this. I’m so blessed.
Historically there has always been communities living on the water in the Philippines for centuries. Before, such villages were made entirely of bamboo, but in modern times scraps of plastic, metal , plywood, concrete, and other modern man-made materials make up the construction giving the ambience that of a discord of architecture and a look of poverty. Here is a close thriving , caring community, no one looks starved and no one looks miserable or unhealthy . It is a simple fishing life of families of friends and colleagues. Wealth and hapiness is a very relative thing. Something the West cannot understand.
Well said 👏 much respect 🙏
Not all
“Wealth and happiness is a very relative thing”. Can you explain what you meant by that? As an American, I realize that poor people here live like kings compared to other parts of the world. I realize some of us apparently don’t realize such.
Ignorance is bliss
so far, 14 minutes into the video, and I see no sign of any crying, screaming, panic, or altercations. It's just people hanging out and/or working. And they don't seem to be complaining of any boredom.

You may want to give a disclaimer to your audience not to venture into squatter areas or abject poverty areas it is not safe for foreigners and even Filipinos to go into these areas.
all these places u mentioned yes , people are poorer than in other areas of philippines , but believe it or not in some places like cebu or bocolod folks are not as poor off as some might have you to believe , i've noticed a lot of filipinos are poor by choice because they don't seem to want to work or earn money or learn how to better their lives , a lot of false stigma and misconceptions on the internet these days portraying All filipinos as being dirt poor when their actually not!

As a Filipino, you should look more into the root causes of this poverty in our past. Many vloggers dwell into poverty in the Philippines but fail completely in delving into the root causes of this poverty. Our country was very rich even before the Spaniards came. You should be crying for justice at what Spain, America and Japan did to our country.
Let's speak honestly. Compared to developed or emerging nations, the Philippines has far higher levels and wider distribution of poverty. In those countries, you don't see babies rolling around on the streets. The government and individuals in that area are not doing enough to improve the lives of their fellow Filipinos who are less fortunate, and the issue has gotten worse.

@@westkingston3135 @CharlesOnikosi Yes you are right. BTW, Philippines is now a newly industrialized country along with Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Mexico, Brazil, India, South Africa, and more. The Philippines became an Industrialized country two years ago, went from a developing country. Even first world countries like USA in L.A. CA, Seattle, Pennsylvania, Chicago, Canada, England, in Europe, Germany, Spain, Italy and many more share the same poverty situation. Here in the US it's worse, hundreds of homeless live in hundreds of tents and lack of sanitation, under the bridge, bushes, with many beggars and addicts, mentally disabled you name it. In the Philippines it's just poverty nothing similar to what I've mentioned and they live in slam areas like squatters at least not in tents without electricity.
The Philippines' build3 program started by former Pres, Duterte is still on going. The Subway underground transportation ( costing at $4.5B )in metro Manila will be opened to the public in the year 2028 only soft opening and the new International airport in Bulacan of which the completion date is 2025 is much bigger than NAIA. The skyway is done (overhead freeways) Those poor countries I've mentioned don't have Underground transportation, etc. etc.
The reclamation project in which a new city will be built soon across the Manila Bay Area is a very expensive project and monorail will also be built near BGC, Eastwood City and Alabang near Taguig. WOW Philippines, it's gonna be something big to look froward! I could hardly wait to visit again.

We can say that it's horrible and yes, a lotta things are BUT the tight-knit communities, the energy, the unification and the family orientation is something that cannot be replaced in a lotta families that are "well-off" or middle class. Yes you are right, even though they are slam dwellers, but they are into high tech, like computer, TVs, cellphones, etc. The slam dwellers are not really from Manila they come from different provinces in Luzon, some of them are farmers, they have homes and lands, but probably got bored of living in the province so they tried their luck in the big city hoping to find jobs, but ended up living in the slam as they cant afford the high rent of apartments in Manila. They are very resourceful, they sell all kinds of recycling items they could find in commercial dumpsters and garbage cans, this is according to what I've watched in videos or UA-cams. They also buy leftovers from restaurants and recook them to sell. I've read this in the Philippine TV news.
The cell phone is no longer a luxury item it is a very important necessity it’s 2024 just in case you have been living in a cave.
Same as central America. Even in grinding , relentless poverty , most all have cellphones .

That is not poverty as you can see they still have time to drink alcohol. They are just lazy enough to clean their surroundings. They must start from themselves.
Fiesta yata dyan sa kanilang lugar kaya nag-iinuman sila.

Sadly, poverty is widespread throughout the country. One minute you're walking around in a modern, well-kept neighborhood, and the next you're in a slum, surrounded by poverty. As a Filipino, I don't suggest the Philippines for tourism. Before anything else, things must improve.
very good behavior philipine netizen.. always smile to stranger❤❤positive environment
If you donate anything. Please donate to these beautiful people. They deserve all the love and caring of the world. There are no other people like the Filipinos in the entire world.
Poverty is everywhere 😢❤❤❤ from India🇮🇳
the cause is corruption
One thing is poverty and another think is dirtiness
The sad thing about poverty in the Philippines. You ask each family in a poverty area on how many children do they have. You will notice on each family. They do have more children compared to a middle well off family. My point is. Poor people should control having more children as they knew to themselves that life is hard and so not to pass on poverty to their children. JMHO....
Making babies is the most pleasurable thing anyone can do in life. Yet, you want to take this away from them, strip them of their one free pleasure in life. It's a religious and cultural issue, not one due to lack of money and poverty. Obtaining birth control is not something that is all that easy in the Philippines. Something as simple as a condom can only be found in certain stores. And the negative stigma of using one runs deep in their culture.
@mariocruz1460 The problem is caused by lack of birth control and this is common pretty much everywhere in the world, except in the Phils, birth control is discouraged by the RC Church.
Yeah, you can, and should, blame the church for this sad state of affairs.

I grew up and used to reside in Malate, which is next to Ermita, and the poverty level was nothing like as awful as it appears in the film. I have since left the nation and moved abroad. Things haven't improved at all and appear to have gotten worse. Dilapidated buildings and roads in disrepair, with waste strewn around. And to think that Ermita was once a popular tourist destination (particularly for Australians) due to its pubs and nightclubs.
Pagpalain ka ng DIOS, Philippines, from Alaska! 🇺🇸 ❤️ 🇵🇭
My heart goes out to you mga kababayan..may God alleviate ..God bless you all
People complaining about the video, but this is the harsh reality of the Philippines. The poverty there is atrocious worse than any other south Asian country. There are good and bad things about the Philippines . Maybe the Philippines Government officials should be cleaning up the rubbish off the streets and helping homeless families , instead of having lavish parties at their mansions. Kudos and Good job to you Jiggers TV
Why Luzon have a poor people living in a trash you don't know how to clean your garbage.. why are you not following Visayas and mindanao so very clean... 🙄
@babylynpenaflor4814 . . . While you are correct, it will not change because it is a cultural thing.
@babylyn Which country are you from? I'm sure your country has homeless population, you know poverty is a global problem even the first world have their own share of poverty and homelessness.

So true. Filipinos are known to have strong family ties. This is why it’s common to see different generations or multiple families living in a single residence.

Heart breaking living condition yet so sweet to see how happy they are . remind to be grateful in life regardless 🙏🏻
bro love your camera, great clear epic footage.
Because the government cannot just evict them, some residents have stayed here for generations. They have become eligible voters. Local politicians bring them by the bus load for voter registrations. One resident told me she knew the politicians are corrupt but they give the residents assistance during elections and she will still vote for them.
They might be poor but they are happy and welcoming unlike here in the US
Go and try to live there sir.Dont be blindsided,You see parents drinking, while young adults doing the same. What monkey do monkey does.Did you see the trash?Everywhere...Kids in america atleast 5 yrs old have a decipline.
