    I reached the pinnacle of my collection when I purchased Royal Oud. No scent comes close to the smell/quality of it. If heaven has a scent, this is what I imagine the aroma to be.

    Totally with you on preferring Royal Oud over French Lover and their similar vibes. The only Creed I own and one of my true favorites on my collection. My “boss man” scent for when I need to portray power and confidence.

    Well-spoken review as usual, Pep. I also remember thinking this was a slightly "better" French Lover before I bought either F L or R O. I went with Royal Oud first, but then later found myself also wanting the simplistic, green, fresh qualities of French Lover. Both serve their purpose well.
    Much like Serge Lutens' Ambre Sultan, Royal Oud seems to enjoy similar regard in that no matter who you are or what your tastes are, it's almost impossible to not like it. And again, like Ambre Sultan, there's just almost nothing wrong with Royal Oud. Heavenly cedar, galbanum, sweet pink pepper, and just enough of a hint of musk and oud to really take it over the top in terms of elegance.

    Actually Creed Royal Oud is my favourite oud of all time. The green top notes are gorgeous. Also - I tend to like soft fragrances that are well composed & easy to wear. Royal Oud fits that bill. It's also elegant in its understated clean vibe.

    • @JaneDaly
      @JaneDaly 2 роки тому +2

      Adding - the oud is a very clean antiseptic oud which isn't what fragcomm loves as a rule. They like the dirty stuff. I'm going to have to sniff it again for the cedar vibe to reassess.

    For another alternative to FM french lover i suggest trying Scent Two: Laurel Comme des Garcons. I was impressed by how close they are. And great performance.

      I hear Versace Oud noir is similar too. Some also say Versace Oud noir is similar to Tom Ford Oud wood.

    Nice review, agree with all your points. Pretty much every reviewer has said they do not smell Oud and agree Royal Cedar would have been a better name as noted by many. It is what it is and does not take away how good it smells and its the only Creed I would buy thats worth the money.

    Cedar chips, pink pepper, galbanum and musk. Pretty much the younger and more refined brother of Spice and Wood. Both in my top 3 from Creed.

      Thameen is very difficult to sample here as there is no distribution. If i cime across it i will.

    It's probably my favorite Creed scent. Not the most unique or ambitious Creed creation, but it's nevertheless an impeccable anywhere-anytime scent.

    Excellent description 👌 I really like this, as you say it does sit in the same spot as French lover. I actually never bought a bottle because of that fact.

    I like this one too, Pep. I think I like the Creed “men’s” fragrances much more than the “women’s” across the board. Khos brought this one around for me to smell one day and it was one of my faves

    I found it close to Dolce & Gabbana Pour Homme vintage bottle. Especially when You sniff your skin. They're not the same of course, they share the same vibe tho. It could be the tobacco note from D&G and Creeds woodiness

    Interesting. I have never heard someone compare these too but it does make sense! I own both French Lover and Royal Oud and love them both. French Lover is a little more spicy, masculine too me. Originally I got a strong cucumber note and it smelled very dark, cold, earthy and wet. Nowadays I get more of the spice, wood and pencil shavings as well. - Royal Oud to me, on the other hand, is like a navy blazer. Refined but versatile.

    I've never gotten the similarity of Royal Oud to French Lover. However, Creed's Spice and Wood smells extremely close to French Lover to my nose. Royal Oud is a very nice perfume, but I like Spice and wood even more.

      Me too! For me royal oud has a fizzy quality and spicy Angelica and woods, and french lover reminds me of eau de lierre by diptyque- very green.

      100% agree with u on French Lover and spice and wood. Likely Pierre bourdon and/or jean christophe herault made both. And I also agree royal oud smells nothing like royal oud to me and I own spice&wood, French Lover, and royal oud.

    I like French Lover, well love it for the first hours, but for me it’s so linear that I get tired of it after a while. Creed is a house I’ve avoided, too much hype, and overpriced, but this is a favorite scent category of mine, might need to give it a look.

  • @jd3358
    @jd3358 2 роки тому

    Spice and wood by Creed is almost identical to French lover, however I find the latter a bit more masculine and green. Throughout the video I thought you have mistaken Royal Oud with Spice and Wood.

    • @TheScentinel
      @TheScentinel  2 роки тому

      Nope. I don't think RO is identical, just parts of it remind me of FL. Haven't smelled Spice and Wood.

    Sorry, but there's nothing sweet about this perfume AT ALL! It's literally 95% cedar, 5% lemon, 0% Oud 😅
