I have watched many videos on pre-trip inspections, and this one is a very good video! After driving for 20 years I have done many inspections, and it very nice to see someone teach the proper Level 1 inspection so well. Under normal inspections, it will not take 25 - 30 generally, like the video, as the driver will mentally will do the visual and manual inspections without speaking the parts. I have had inspectors tell me that if you spend more than 15 minutes, you are wasting time. Remember, it takes different people different lengths of times to complete an inspection, and also remember, if you are stopped or in a wreck, the complete responsibility falls on your shoulders. Do the inspections correctly and well, and most of the time you will never have a problem. Thanks for a great video!!!
This video helped me ace my pre-trip every time !!! I've been on the road now 4 years and I still come back once in a while for a refresher. I ignore negative comments about his methodology because there is always someone out there who needs to find something to whine or complain about. Kudos Valley Driving
Here, I was always instructed to say; not bent, cracked, or broken, not missing any nuts or bolts. That's for any metal item. Rubber; not cut, cracked, or dry rot. But, a few of the things you mentioned are not required; not required to pass the state testing anyway. Good video though. Oh... get some glove on.
I notice the one thing you did forget, was before starting you didn't say that the pressure in the secondary and primary tanks haven't dropped, meaning that your checkvalve going to the wet tank is functional. But it was really well done, and thank you for the video. It helped a lot, I think I can shave a bit of time off my pretrip now for my exam.
Good video, and helpful. But why did you release the brakes after your 50-90 compressor check, right before you exited the truck?? I lost points on my pre trip because of this.
Good job. I watched to the end to see if you would do what I suspected you might and you did. It's a pet peeve of mine when mechanics or any one works on my truck without gloves than handles my steering wheel with dirty hands. It's happened more times then I can count that I've gotten grease on my hands from someone else touching the steering wheel.
Motor is for electrical equipment such as electric motor not electric engine. Engines use petroleum based fuels. I hate when people misuse those terms. I also hate that how the industry I love and work in (trucking) refers to companies as motor carriers. Government sucks.
what cdl school is this? there are more keywords you must utter besides the phrase "no damage." example: marker lights, amber in color, not faded, not CRACKED, securely mounted.
how many hours you need to take your road test for class 1? you pay and take the written test for class 1... i guess it's mandatory to take a driving school eh?
I miss Europe. Truck has to be found safe during a roadside inspection. How you make it happen is your damn business. You are never asked to show up and do this embarrassing fiction at a drive test.
Regulations to truck safety are more stringent here. They have to make sure you know what to look for so you don't end up being a friggin kumquat and murder a bunch of people by starting up with an unsafe truck and going out truckin. I for one see no fault in having that being part of the test.
that is not true.... 45 for pre-trip - yes including incab air and tug test. -- coupling and uncoupling is distinct and outside of any time restriction ( and yes do another tug test after coupling is expected ) nor is the road test under a time... how could it be ..you have traffic and they tell you where to go. your comment is incorrect

This is one of the best pre-trip videos I've seen. Thanks

With every components names on the screen, should be very helpful for the biginners. Thx.
Excellent pre-trip. I think the only thing missing is to remove the keys from the ignition whilst doing checks under the vehicle.
honestly the best video i've seen on procedures to do a pre trip great job
👍👍👍

"exit from under the truck" classic. good work. just giving you some shit
Ok, NO DAMAGE.
Awesome video!! Helped me so much thank you
Great video thanks
Much different pretrip method at Valley in 2019. Diferent and of course new tractors .
Good video, and helpful. But why did you release the brakes after your 50-90 compressor check, right before you exited the truck?? I lost points on my pre trip because of this.
Awesome video..
Awesome job Al, Thanks.
@ 8:34, We see how he was compounding his breaks the whole time because his tractor service brakes "dynamited" too LMAO!!!
very good videos
that "tool" pickle fork, ball joint separator is going to bend or break your clevis on your slack adjuster
good job sir like you

your vthe best man thanks alot
love the subtitles.. good job !
does icbc do the pre trip like this this in this order. its aug 2020 now got a road test soon just wondering thx
how did it go bro?? was it the same as this video?
Its pretty detailed in bc its less detailed in the nwt. I guess the test depends on where u live and how many people live there in a way.
Truck should be off during the air regiment. Pumping your service brake while governor is building is kind of silly.
This part of the airbrake pre-trip. Its given bc ICBC and a part of their required check.
Good video but must do it faster during the exam day with icbc
You have 45 minutes with province of BC examiners to complete your pretrip
Hey Al notice that you did governor cut out twice. Trying to cut some time is it required to do twice. Very good video.
last Friday I get my class 1 licence from ICBC in Prince George 100% in pre-trip I lose some points in driving but I passed
Did you do driver training? How any hours?
hassan zemoura ..how long training have you taken?
Why you dont use your gloves for outside pretrip ? You touch things in cab with dirty hands..

motor definition: 1. a device that changes electricity or fuel into movement and makes a machine work: 2. a car:
MOTOR | meaning in the Cambridge English Dictionary
I think your your chuak block is not lying properly as the ribs are to be snug to the tire?, maybe your blocks are ribbed on both sides? Cheers
what cdl school is this?
there are more keywords you must utter besides the phrase "no damage."
example: marker lights, amber in color, not faded, not CRACKED, securely mounted.
When you adjust the air brakes 1/2-3/4 are you turning it to a certain point of somewhere or you just checking the travel from opening to close ?
Ok your blocks are rid both sides! I'm so stupid lol
no damage no damage ......
I would totally do this but I have no idea what a Class 1 license is. This one time though, I got a Class A license...
Class 1 is Canada, Class A is USA
Hi.
Front wheels parrallel?
You do not test the tractor protection valve. 105psi to 135psi for max pressure? If i run a truck that only builds 105psi im goin to the shop
some older trucks still run at 105
How do u check ur break lights alone?? Coundt hear
To be honest... no one does this kind of pre trip in real life then just check the tires...
anyone have pre trip steps for how mpi likes it here in Manitoba
I do not know thw process of the manitoba pretrip....if you find out what that pretrip is, kindly let me know. Thanx
I got a ticket once for low windshield washer fluid on a beautiful sunny day...Cover your ass on everything,,,
He just reading book he should check lines and tire u cant check in millisecond
Not once did you mention your valve stems
why isnt the engine off and electrical on wen doing air break
Depends what you are talking about. You cant load a compressor with the engine off as it only runs when the engine runs.
how many hours you need to take your road test for class 1? you pay and take the written test for class 1... i guess it's mandatory to take a driving school eh?
You can get your learners license and take the road test the next day with no experience whatsoever. provided you have access to a truck and trailer.
You have to learn this silly procedure to pass. Theyll take your money over and over no problem
Does anyone know how the pretrip is done in Saskatchewan?
Not sure, but this few years old BC PreTrip looks alot like the current Ab one. Can't imagine it to be much different.

pre trip 1 hour in London Ontario any more then 1 hour, means you fail !
better go to some good school and learn how to perform pre trip !
Epic fail if he go back thru the CDL skill test n pre trip lol "no damage"
jtec pretrip
lol this is a joke right you wouldnt make past the hood with my instructor
Nathan Swisshelm your instructor is a fucking joke.
you have to give more info than just 'no damage. this video is a joke.
Harold Nichols your mom is a joke.
absurd, this guy closes the hood before firing up the truck ? pity for those who think this is best pre trip !
bad typing.. start to finish, pre trip, coupling and uncoupling, incab, road test, can not exceed 1 hour
that is not true.... 45 for pre-trip - yes including incab air and tug test.
--
coupling and uncoupling is distinct and outside of any time restriction ( and yes do another tug test after coupling is expected )
nor is the road test under a time... how could it be ..you have traffic and they tell you where to go.
