It’s very heartwarming to know that there are still developers out there that have respect, integrity and decency. Our heritage is so important. The last 20 years have seen a real decline in tasteful development. Sydney doesn’t need anymore ugly casinos. It needs class. This is a huge step in the right direction. I hope it inspires others to adopt the same philosophy and create a city that echoes the past but is new and exciting. I look forward to visiting soon.
I don't know why - but this video really drew me in. What a fantastic achievement. I want to stay there. If I come to Sydney - I know where my head will rest. Thanks.
As a worker in Circular Quay, I sometimes get sad at the so-called upgrades of some CBD areas, as I've been there since the magical 1980s era. But you have restored my faith. Thank you.
Absolutely stunning! Many congratulations to the whole design team. I will definitely visit next year. (A minor point for the Local Project, if you shoot someone playing chess, please get the board the right way round…..)
I am thrilled that they saved such a beautiful building. I love the entry area and the way they respected the original directory boards - art work is magnificent. Love those charming moving palest pink light shades up high = brilliant. But I wish the bedroom suites were not so "beige, cream, grey" colours. I prefer the elegant, charming colours used in the Langham hotel suites in Melbourne - makes their suites more welcoming than the plain boring palette of predominantly just "beige, cream and greys"
Should be a gallery or museum or something useful to the general public, that anyone can attend, not a luxury for a few who can afford it, under the pretext of preserving heritage. Sydney does not need more exclusivity. Hotels are a great idea until a downturn or a pandemic when you cant fill those rooms. Sydney desperately needs more publicly accessible museums and galleries.

What utter nonsense. Visit Georgian Ireland, much of the U.K., Haussmannian Paris, Neoclassical St. Petersburg, the variety of Charleston, South Carolina architecture. Want more? Happy to oblige. Clearly you desperately need to travel more.
I disagree with most commentary. I see it as bland and without character. There is no comparison with the beauty of international hotels in Asia and Europe. Those hotels have a character that reflects their culture. When all you have is football, meat pies and kangaroos, you don’t have much to build upon. Room prices reflect the location and that’s all.
This is NOT the best Australia has to offer by any means look up the Impearl Hotel on the Gold Coast or the Langham in Melbourne. Even Ritz Cartlon and Four Seasons have set up shop in Australia now.

A beautiful transformation of an iconic building. You’ve preserved a beautiful piece of Sydney’s history.
This is a beautiful video and we're so glad to have worked alongside you on this. It's super!
The pleasure is all ours - thank you for sharing your beautiful work with us!
You are amazing ❤@makearchitects

Seamless blend of old and new. Exemplary architecture!
I would use the words vintage & contemporary

What an amazing piece of architectural 👏🏼
Literally walked past this building today and didn't think twice. Wow-- how eye opening lol.
As we can see, the design quality of the entire hotel is really shown here. 🥰🥰
Amazing!!! I worked in this building from 2014-2018.

Love the interiors ….great video 👍🏼

Freaking world class! Just stunning!
Capella, such a great brand!
WoW VERY CLASSY...
I am booking a room next time I am in Sydney.

I wish Melbourne could do something like this.
You first need to get Victorian Communist Party approval to make anything happen there.

Remarkable, beautiful. Would be the place to suggest to guests who want spoil themselves in Sydney.
Fantastic transformation. So much nicer than the stuffy old education building.
Looks like a good option for backpackers too.
I've said it, and I'll say it again, Australia's architecture is the best in the World.
Sorry to say this but all the best buildings in Sydney were designed by overseas architecture firms and talent.
@@HappyDays-nk7iqbut the point is that Australians seem to be the only ones that care about architectural beauty these days...
Not even close. It's not even the best on Australasia. Go see what China is doing. Let alone Europe and Middle east
U could travel more, and u’ll change your opinion 😄

I love the artwork that looks like jelly fish swimming
Lovely
I want to book a room there!
Does anyone know the source for the beautiful chess set @ 1:54 ?
It’s a shame that BAR STUDIO wasn’t featured in this video…..
The way architects talk 😂 there’s a meme going around of an Aussie comedian ripping on architects in a jovial way and I can’t unhear it 😂
Some is ok…a fair bit of high tack though.
Beautiful but Prince per room is ridiculous
Of course, location location location.
They need to meet a return on investment! They want their money back for this iconic transformation :)
Compared to the hotels inParis...I would rather stay in Capella.
Not a fan of those twee undulating flower lights. Dated before theyre even installed. The rest is magnificent.
What they did to the nearby AMP building is atrocious! Pod style architecture getting you ready for the pods that you’ll be living in
👍👍👍
With the Sydney rental crisis, those rooms should be booked out in no time!
1:54 White goes first🤦🏽♂️
$565 per night for a cheap room per person.
What a waste of money
The price is excellent compared to the old dirty and tiny hotel rooms you get in the heart of Paris. It is Sydney and beautiful!!
Nothing like an intolerable Pommy accent to showcase Australia’s finest. 😂
@MrTravismac…would agree with you on the accent…definitely a phoney ring to it😮
Ahhh Sydney, like the hottest most interesting girlfriend you ever had …. only a city.

LOL, jealusy and envy will kill you in the end. Having class and taste is good for you.
You're too broke to afford it. Its ok.
Well this reelects Australian culture and heritage.
and it is refined an elegant without being glitzy gaudy Asian style.
Australia has a lot of stunning colloinal buildings.
