I have one at my disposal. They crackle very much. Panning all over the place. Volume knob on max to get a little over average volume. What are those ‘bulbs’ you clean an did you replace them?
Hey, if you mean the glass bulbs around the 5:00 mark, those are two fuses. I've replaced one of them since it was corroded and it wasn't working. Anyway, if the fuses blows, your amp won't turn on at all. The problem you're facing sounds more like dirty knobs. You can try and clean them (like i do in the video).
I cleaned it hoping it would all be fixed. The good news is the crackling is gone. But now I have a continuous knocking ticking bass sound which was not there prior
Enjoyed this, thanks! I still have my TRM-800 that I purchased new back in 75-76 and it still looks brand new. Like others, my balance/ volume control is giving me some intermittent issues with the left channel dropping out at lower volume. I have to raise the volume with the switch pointed to full left and it comes back to normal and then rebalance it. There used to be a "stop" on the balance dial, but now it rotates continuously around. I must have been too aggressive with it at one time. I've cleaned the dials and switches from the inside only, but like your idea to also do it from the front. Cleaning the fuses also a great idea, I'll do this next time I'm in there. We'll be celebrating our 50th anniversary together soon lol best to you!
