Being a wings fan, I miss him. We, as a franchise miss the magic man, we’ll never see another like him.
my hopes are on Filip Zedina
He could come back next year to Detroit
He will be back ;)
You forgot to mention his Olympic gold medal
Half past Two Kind of a fluke, there was no other talent close to Russia since the NHL didn’t even go. Unless if you consider Linden Vey or Mason Raymond superstars.
I was just gonna say that
@@piggytalesstudio4690 Datsyuk is not to blame that the NHL did not let the players to the Olympics. Maybe Russia did not deserve the Olympic victory, but Datsyuk deserved it
In addition, there was Eeli Tolvanen, Marko Anttila, Christian Ehrhoff, Rasmus Dahlin, Brian Gionta... not superstars, but at least something. Russia lost the 1994 Olympics in Lillehammer, also without NHL players. So it was not so easy to win as it seems.
Datsyuk undressed the opposition regularly and he did it with class.
They didn't call him the Magic Man for nothing! :D
Using my husbands handle, but this man IS amazing and a great guy. Was always well respect by team mates and opponents. He has always been one of my favorite players. My son watches videos to learn how to handle the puck better. Hopefully Datsyuk will continue to play, I dont know another player of his age still putting up an average of a pt per game.
This hits me right in the feels as a Wings fan. One of the best players to ever lace up the skates, a 3 time Selke trophy winner, 2 time Stanley Cup champion, 4 time all star, and an Olympic gold medal winner. Detroit misses you Magic Man, you deserve to be on the list of the 100 greatest NHL players, and it's only a matter pf time before you find yourself in the hockey hall of fame. Also if I had any say in the matter, no Red Wing should ever wear the number 13 again
I really hope Pavel gets his jersey number retired by the organization. There'll never be another #13 like him.
Happy to be able to watch him play live for 3rd year in a row! Cheers from St. Petersburg!
I love this player, one of my all time favorites and he still performs very well today at the age of 40! His instinct and intelligence for the game is on another level. He is both an athlete and a chess player. Sometimes he sees the moves and opportunities ages before his opponents. It's like he can predict the future. SKA St. Petersburg has a sick team. Great contrast of experienced and young upcoming players. I'm hoping to see them play a NHL team in the near future. I don't think a NHL team would win so easily.
KHL vs NHL would be a game/series I would love to watch!
Jokerit is better
This is pretty much just a guy reading his stats. Your missing how amazing this guy truly was. Probably the best puck handler of all time.
@@freder1c Great puck handling does not always equal a lot of goals. He was an amazing overall player, not just a one trick pony.
@@freder1c points dont tell the story with datsyuk, he was the greatest player on both side of the puck, overrated, please, why? Cause he didnt score 50 goals? I'll put him 1v1 vs your favorite player and your favorite player will lose 10/10 times, datsyuk is underrated and always has been, he's literally the greatest hockey player ever, overrated.... Shut up fool
@@freder1c datsyuk could have easily put up 100pts every single season if he just focused on offense. What's even crazier is he was a defensive forward who just happened to be sick at offense. He was better than everyone else skill for skill. His skill was so crazy that it almost looked like he wasn't trying. Points didn't translate to his in game presence.
@@defuzins Yeah wow could EAILY have gotten 100 pts a year, yet he never did it once
@@freder1c you must be a really young guy. To me, he was the best player skill for skill during his play in the NHL. Crosby you could argue as #1 too but there was something about datsyuk that people were just afraid of getting embarrassed by him. Like they backed off
Pavel was the only player I watch growing up. Very sad for him to be gone
To me he is the best player ever. Of course there are other great ice hockey players out there but he is one combination of everything that makes the game hockey interesting.
best player ever.
One of the players that got me into the game back in the day! Watching his highlights never cease to amaze me even to this day...
Odd Man Rush i even got to meet him back in 2007 at Joe Louis Arena. nice guy.
@@yvonestrom3562 That's so awesome! I'm hoping he plays at the KHL World Game in Zurich next week so I can finally see the Magic Man in person!
No. Mario is.
@@sweetswing1 Wayne and Mario... Too close to call
Has never played a shit season, and has only been - once. He's 40 and still a absolute stud in the KHL, I'm curious to see how long he'll stay in the game.
Pavel, probably the best player in NHL.
He has the best hands of all time
This is surprising, but if it were not for the draft, Datsyuk would have remained useless in Russia as well. Nobody ever knew about him. He was not invited to the central clubs; he did not play for the national team then. And then the case and Datsyuk became a member of the Golden Club (Stanley Cup + Olympics + World Championship) and there are only 30 such players in the world today
His assists are insaneeee
He's easily top 20 all time amongst Ds/Fs
I can't believe my Sabres past up on Datsyuk... But so did every team....
Years ago we had yserman, and then we were fortunate enough to get daksyuk. I think his first cup win while playing with stevie was a great combo
He won 3 different types of championship,in the KHL, NHL, amd Russian Super League
Germ 26 and olympics btw 😂
It's amazing to see how many good player have come from the bottom of that draft ... datsyuk, markov, kapanen, nittymaki, kotalik, neil... some first round don't have that quality 😅
Man this guy could dangle
My favorite player ever! ...class, skill, sixth sense and will drop the gloves when needed! Da Magic Man!!!
Decent summary, but you did not get into the soul of the man, and his amazing stick-handling skills.
C+
Could do better.
Datsyuk was one of the best stick-handlers of all time without a doubt! I didn't really touch on it in this series because I primarily focus on their season-by-season stats and the facts of what takes place rather than player traits and their playing style. However, you do make a very fair point. Thanks for watching :)
@@OddManRush Fair enough. Good luck with the rest of the series - you can do ones for Jagr and Plekanec!
He just wanted to play in the KHL because it was closer to his home
He won every possible major trophy in hockey 😂
I'd take Datsyuk in his prime over crosby ovechkin and every other star currently in the league without hesitation.
U know it
Absolutely
1of 33 players in nhl history and 9 redwings to acheive triple gold aswell stanley, Olympic and iihf gold
I've been watching every one of these videos
Forgot to mention Datsyuk is a member of the triple gold club.
Whatever happened to Marian Gaborik
He's still playing dipshit
He’s not the same anymore
@@JackCallSports This series is for people who aren't in the NHL anymore numb nuts
Steve Ott
And?
Nice job liking your own comments btw
@@JackCallSports And? That's why it's a stupid suggestion you fucking moron
if you don’t know what happened to pav, you live under a rock and are not a real hockey fan
UA-cam's recommendation algorithm is god awful. However, it did lead me to you! So, now, I subscribe to so many more channels to make up for YT's poor system. Keep up zee good work!
At least UA-cam gave you one good recommendation then! :D
Thanks for watching dude :)
To those who don’t know, Detroit used to be in the west but was then moved to the east due to the fact that they have more rivals there.
And other reasons obviously
Man, as a Shark's fan I miss seeing the Datsyuk and the Red Wings in the playoffs!
Dainius Zubrus, Im lithuanian so I'd like to see him or kasparitis
me too.. well my mom's parents
Whatever happened to Derian Hatcher. Meet him at Wings Camp in Traverse City, Mi and bought his jersey that year. Played like one year with the Wings then just disappeared
I forgot all about Hatcher being a wing!!
Both Kevin and his brother live in a small town in Michigan called algonac...I'm from a neighboring town and have met them both...both are class acts and love talking hockey...had the pleasure of running into them at a local bar with some friends...we watched a wings game and talked about pavel extensively...awesome night for sure
speed of game changed😁😆.
My favorite non-Flyers player of all time! Pasha be that dude.
One and only member of Quadruple Gold Club (Olympic, World, Stanley (NHL), Gagarin (KHL))
Whatever happened to Marian Hossa?
His contract hit 1 million and it wasn't enough for him to play.
Gunter V he retired due to a skin disorder....
Rest of his contract is traded to Arizona
I am a Blackhawks fan. He is the best player!
Think you forgot Russian Superleague title in 2004-5.
Captaining the Russian team to Olympic gold.
World Championship Win in 2012
Serveral other less important trophies were also missed.
While focusing on Datsyuk stats/accomplishments is good and all, it should be noted what certain things he was known for. Example stick-handling, defensive play, shootout/breakaways etc. It would give a more complete picture of the player.
These videos are good, but seems they are taken in a bubble. Never looking at the circumstances surrounding the teams the players played for.
I miss your energy on the intros and videos. I know you probably tamed it down to be more friendly and what not but I enjoyed your old enthusiasm
What ever happened to Chris Pronger
Joe Pettibone he got injured and lost his perifrel vision (left eye) and couldn’t return
Arizona holds the rights to his contract as well as datsyuk
What ever happened to Loui
Ericsson
He got paid then stopped caring. Kinda like Ben Gordon in the nba
The real goat
He also switched from CCM helmet to Jofa when he switched teams.

How about that Olympic gold medal he won with Russia??
U didnt mention datsyk flip
He was also traded to Arizona in 2016

whatever happen to william nylander
Josh Wackernagel nylander the last I heard was still holding out for more money in Toronto. He must sign by the 1st of sit the rest of the season
Still playing. In his home town of Yekaterinburg.
Whatever happened to predictability? The milkman, the paperboy? Evening TV?
British people clearly didn’t watch hockey back in 2015 eh
Come back to Detroit, and make sure he retires as a Captain.
What ever happened to Karri Ramo
For your info. Some russian players (including datsyuk) were using my private lessons, trickshots, some other techniques, where I expect compensation for that, Still I hear nothing. I lived there, in Ural, but from 1991 I live in the USA.
6:07 Willem Dafoe had a crazy second act in life, moonlighting under the alias “Pavel Datsyuk”
Why didn't you tell about Datsyuk's play for Avtomobilist Ekaterinburg?
He is playing in the KHL
Kari Lehtonen?
He is a free agent
William Nylander i know but why isn’t he signed there must be a reason
@@Firestrike-ki4xw because he is old
William Nylander he’s 34 and Miller is like 38 or 39, you’re point?
@@FrequencyVibrations look at his season last year it was horrible
And nhl hall of famer
R.I.P
I forgot he was a 6th round pick
Please do Whatever Happened To Chris Pronger.
What happened to teddy purcell? Seems like one day he was in the NHL then he just disappeared.
Kurt Dat boi dude was a legend in nhl 13 be a pro
There's an information he can return to the NHL. Perhaps. There's kind a conflict between him and coach or coach's stuff. well..how future look like we'll see next season
Whatever happened to Steve Mason?
Free agent
He fled off to Russia and was charged with assault and murders of multiple goalies because he exposed too many ankles
All Hail Datsyuk
Not sure but I think he probably retired. Just a guess though
Hes playing in the khl
He got old. Thats what happened. But he still plays in Russia
He wanted to be closer to his family so he moved back and plays in the KHL instead
datsyuk was 56?
In his rookie season, yes! I also just discovered that when I was researching this video, crazy huh?
As a wings fan, I’m ashamed I didn’t know
@CrAzYCaM 8 Teemu Pulkkinen also wore #56 for Detroit, for the couple of seasons he was there, just to add to this.
@CrAzYCaM 8 Nielsen and filppula wear 51 not 56
@Omniscient Biscuit FAIL SO HARD
What happened to Pascual Dupuis
Y is Detroit always getting knocked out on the second or first round
Brodie Steele we’re in the rebuild process at the time we we’re good enough to make the playoffs but not good enough to take home lord Stanley lost too many key pieces
He might come back to the wings for 19-20
Grabovski
Whatever happened to Jared Cowen?
Not enough talent

vesa toskala!
Great! Great! My greatest player is Dave Keon!
Hey man I really like your videos BUT... Every time you start a video both GRRRREATINGS like you did in this one or whenever you kinda scream "THERE WAS A LOCKOUTTT" I litteraly want to turn the videos off it annoys me so much.... Maybe I'm the only one, but for me your videos are relaxing and these kind of things ruin the mood imo.
Coyotes Legend
Whatever happened to tom mccollum? Hes gone becuz he sucked
He got old. Happens to everyone lol
Don't get me wrong, I liked him and he was pretty flashy and was very good, but for some reason the numbers just aren't there, especially come playoff time
FAILLLLL
