Skating A Museum After Hours

- London’s Natural History Museum is famous throughout the world both for its collections (including the giant blue whale skeleton known as Hope) and the architectural sweep of the building itself.
Open since the 1880’s, the city’s grandest museum is a mere stone’s throw from the Royal Albert Hall location of our 2016 Hold The Line contest, and so when the opportunity to get locked into the space’s possibilities arose, we were all-in.
From Argentina, Belgium, the Philippines and Brazil four of our favourite women in the world answered the call to skate one of the world’s most famous locations for one night only.
Margie Didal, @LeticiaBufoni , Lore Bruggeman and Aldana Bertran all converged for a never-to-be-repeated skate session inside the fabled halls- all on the proviso that whatever went down nothing got broken!
With just a few minor mods required the session was on, with an injured Margie in charge of hype duties throughout the night as our squad bagged as much footage as they could from an almost unbelievably photogenic environment.

Well done @naturalhistorymuseum, you found a way to devalue your mission and the treasures you were entrusted to promote, risk unnecessary damage to your historical building and collections and promote a highly dumb, shallow idea in an era so full of dumb ideas it is hard to invent a new one - all for some clicks and corporate profits.
Great message too: "There is absolutely nothing corporate money can't buy. History, heritage, priceless artifacts - they are all nothing more but a stage for your shameless self-promotion."
You do not need this type of promotion. They do. Show some respect. Saying this as a skateboarder working in marketing.
This was not impressive. At all. I found it inappropriate and sad. What the two subjects - the NHM and 'women's skateboarding' have in common I have no idea and having watched this I have concluded...very little. The users of the museum (and the museum was used in this case) are just not the kind of association I want with the NHM and I really am at a loss as to what leech of a virtue signalling rat at the NHM sold out our great museum for this frankly poor performance. Act your purpose =
You are not a skatepark and stop virtue signalling.

I’d be more appalled if it was a fine art museum, risking seeing a board fly through a irreplaceable canvas or sculpture. In this video though I was more worried about the boards nicking or chipping at the architecture

@TheIdontcare444 The natural history museum board has authorised this , they will have done a full health and safety brief and risk assessment of damage, so I can't see why this is preposterous to you.

The second I saw this I clicked: not because I like red bull (never drunk it) but because the architecture and pillars in the thumbnail was so obviously the NHM London

HOW does this even happen??? Red Bull is just insane. Imagine getting the call as a skater: "yo guys, we're going in the NHM today to skate" - "You mean outside in the curb?" - "DID I STUTTER?"

I don’t remember the velociraptor being there since I went there last year and they only skated in hintze hall. The people were in danger here, not the artifacts
Everything was set up for them to do so. No self respecting museum on this planet would let a bunch of skaters inside anything they did, and you kinda shoulda realized what was up when the raptor just bounced back (it was fake) and she didn’t break the glass to the display - that was a replaced case made of plexiglass… also they were literally showing themselves setting up railings and stuff lol… so I mean, you kind of have to use you’re head and realize that they have been given a crazy level of permission to do some skating in some very specialized and localized areas of the building. That bench was also wicked fake lol… they would have been arrested otherwise. So I mean, yeah… I guess you haven’t figured out ‘don’t believe everything you see on the internet is real’ yet, but hopefully soon will lol.

I like how many people hate on them skating inside the museum but understand that they had permission and the museum accommodated and helped them to set up the park. To me it’s THPS IRL so hate all you want but they are being creative

@@jimizxztheorginal Exactly! I don't know if they knew this or if they just didn't care but dinosaur bones are pretty hard to come by and if they break them, I'm very positive NONE of them have the money to replace it.

@@BH181 That is not true, replicas are only made for very fragile, unique or extremely valuable objects. Most are usually as authentic as they get. That is in fact the point of a museum.

Im glad you posted this!! I thought I was the only one who was a little disappointed the museum aloud this. Im a skater threw and threw but also a history lover and I didnt think it was appropriate to be risking priceless history.

@@chameliousI'm a skater and have access to a museum. I have never felt the need to do this, so trying to belittle someone based on your baselessly skewed logic is pretty ignorant. If you really think that this video is going to increase the museum's visitor admission that much then you must not understand why Red Bull did this. First off, Red Bull would cover the bill for damages and not the museum. Second, this is just a glorified Red Bull advertisement. Whatever publicity the museum receives is overshadowed by the money Red Bull paid them to do this.

the dino skeleton is 100% definitely a replica, they certainly won't risk damaging it and the museum also looks suspiciously empty. I wonder what red bull is planning with this? how can they make a profit from this? 30K views in 4 days isn't that great either.

Anyone who was around in the 80’s/90’s/00’s knows that IF this would have even been possible, it would have been so much more real back then, and security guards would be running around everywhere and they wouldn’t be setting up fake areas for them to grind lol. I’m honestly not saying any of this to take away from this video, it was still badass, but videos back then were seriously just so much more raw and permission beforehand was not even in the cards lol 😄

ancient ancestors/dinosaurs go though actually life and actual stuggles, the human ancestors make artifacts that still exist today stolen by their disrespectful descendants now the later descendants are skating around those artifacts and also dino skeletons...if anything breaks beyond repair you wouldnt be able to replace it, the majority of humans now days dont even have the originality and soul to make some of the stuff the ancestors made and this is how some people treat those things 👀 ancestors would probably be face palming, be embarrassed and ashamed of what humans have become.
