I Carved Two sculptures for the Goodyear Cotton Bowl in only 16 days. This was my 7th year creating team mascots out of Goodyear tires. This year we had an exciting matchup between Ohio state and Mizzou. We first carved the mascots out of foam insulation- then applied over 450 tires to the sculptures. These sculptures were presented to both teams during the 2023 Goodyear cotton bowl, then Goodyear donates them to each respective schools so they can display them on campus. #carving #sculpting #art

There are no words other than BRILLIANT. You are the most incredible artist in 3 dimensions. My ONLY disappointment is that the video wasn't 3 hours. My biggest take-away from the video is that Boys never grow up, we just get bigger. Shooting staples at each other is DEFINITELY something my brother and I would do!

I think I would have hired a new driver on the spot if that’d happened to me. 😂 Like naw, that’s too much failure for me to trust that truck to not tip over and roll off the highway or something, lol.
I know unexpected things happen but I'd be a little more than concerned with the driver after that liftgate problem. Glad they got to their destination all in one piece.
Also, I don't know why but I got a kick out of the Goodyear label on the sneakers. Great work as always.
Yeah I was very concerned even when they were on the truck safley. Luckily they made it there with no problems!

The shoes are just as satisfying to see made as I'm sure they are to make. Especially the end bit where you actually tied it. Also, it's weird that part way through the video I forgot what the tiger mascot looks like. When you were painting it yellow I was like...wait...but it's a tiger? No, that's the actual color of the mascot. I think where it's so CLOSE to being orange, my brain just wants it to be orange. Glad they got to their destination in one piece. I would be so mad and frustrated if I worked as many hours as you did on something for it to end up destroyed.
haha you have no idea how many different paint swatches I had to go through to find the "yellow Orange" that is Truman. He SHOULD be orange..... but that is not what the school has for him lol.

I used foam like this when I was a scenic artist at Sea World in San Antonio back in the 1980s. I sealed the foam in cheesecloth dipped in a mixture of glue, whiting and water to seal it before I blew the fiberglass on it with a fiberglass chopper. BTW A/B foam works great for snow and you can thin out Bondo with acetone and then paint it on stuff.

Alginate! We use that stuff in the Prosthetics world to create cosmetic prostheses for people with digit and/or hand deficiencies. We cast the other side and mirror it to be used as a mold for silicone pours. Then they're hand painted.
If you have more time in the future, let the resin/alginate pour air dry. The longer the alginate sits, the more moisture content it loses and, with time, it'll just crumble away instead of risking breaking your positive mold on its way out. If not, a box cutter helps remove it..
