Love this song and the movie didn't understand the song but it was beautiful ❤️
Came here to say rest in peace and power to the GREAT Pioneer black actor Sidney Poitier. He died days ago while I was on vacation so I'm posting a little late. He has many awesome movies but this clip & song is truly one of his best kept "secrets"! This was his directorial debut; A WARM DECEMBER.
I LOVE THIS MOVIE. IT'S ONE OF MY TOP FAVORITES OF ALL TIME. Many years ago I learned this song and since I'm American, it was hard making out the words but I was did it good justice while performing it. Plus I promoted the movie by letting them know where I learned it from. ONE LOVE, PEACE AND BLESSINGS TO EVERYONE!!!
Andddddd the lead actress is the ex girlfriend of the magnificent ROBERT NESTA MARLEY ( BOB MARLEY)!
Most popular struggle anthem in South Africa during marches calling for the release of Nelson Mandela and other struggle stalwarts who were jailed fighting for black south Africans to be free and finally it happened in 1994 four years after the release of Nelson Mandela and other political prisoners,Aluta continua.
I saw this movie when I was a child in South America and an this melody kept coming to my head all my life. At 35 I was living in the USA and finally was able to identify the singer and the name of the song. I've been listening often since then.
You were 35 during that time? Wow you are lucky to lived this much. How old are you now?
So beautiful! I loved this movie in my youth, cried buckets. And Sidney Poitier is amazing.
It's very sombre and moving.
What a beautidul song. Saw this movie when i was very young and saw this particular clip now that i'm 69.It moved me then and it moved me now. Awesome!
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤beautiful❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
This is one of my favorite songs Love the voice, song full of emotion. Just love it it always fills me.
Same thing happened to me: I saw this movie in my childhood in a small town in southern Mexico. I liked the song so much, that I returned to the theater to record with a tape recorder hidden in my jacket. The sound was poor, and finally lost the cassette. Therefore, I am very happy to find it in this post. Fortunately, today we have atube catcher
one of my favorite song from this movie
I can't believe such a beautiful and moving song is not available for download :(
Very sad
Over a decade later and I am still here. ❤️❤️❤️
Yes, the emotive passionate melody came from the deepest recesses of her consciousness.
This song : playing in my head at work back to back
I saw this film when I was younger. I remember even then being so moved by the song and thee emotions that came through even though I had no idea what the meaning of the words were I still felt it I love it
Though I love Miriam Makeba's recording of this song on the Belafonte/Makeba album from the mid-60s, Letta Mbulu's interpretation here is especially moving. I'm so happy to have found this clip. I remember seeing this film (A Warm December) in the cinema as a young teenager and being absolutely transfixed by this song. I later had the privilege of seeing Ms Mbulu on stage with Harry Belafonte in the early 70s.
+pbot1959 Me too. 50 plus y/o now. My daughter used to tell me to sing the 'Nako, Nako' song to her when she was 3y/o. BEAUTIFUL melody. Still love it.
I fell in love with this extraordinarily beautiful song the moment I
first heard it in the equally beautiful Sidney Poitier movie, A Warm
December. Much thanks for the video.
pbot
I have to agree. This rendition is very moving while the original feels more trite imo. Not the words, just the feel.
LUCKY YOU!!!!!
Totally "JEALOUS" of you today, dude!
I have No words...I feel this....Lovely
Me too
Ahhhh this is a wonderful movie!!!! The song still move me every time I hear it and every time I see the picture!!!! Our race of people are soooooooooo talented I brought the movie on DVD can't stop watching it......
Another beautiful song from the motherland
This was, I believe, the first movie Sidney co-directed. So impactful. The fact that he put a spotlight on sickle cell anemia back in 1973 speaks volumes. And yes, I always cry at the end of the movie!
Beautiful !
I remember being 10 and watching this film 😍 I adored the song and learned it by ear very quickly ❤ I am 31 and still come to watch it and I'm proud to still remember it verbatim ❤❤❤ such a beautiful song
I can't believe this is 1972 she looks like she was 21 years old.
of my favorite songs
I just watched just movie yesterday for the first time and what captivated me was this song. I left my tv on and when i came back home as i was opening the door it was a very beautiful and emotional song playing so it drew my attention and came here to google and i'm listening to it the whole day repeatedly. Wow the song is wonderful and the lady has an angelic voice. I wish i can have a woman sing for me like this all the time
This is the most beautiful movie ever! I lost a copy I purchased 15 years ago. I regret someone has't upload it yet
I listened to this song in 1981 in Buntingvile and it inspired my life
Just watched 60 minutes (Oct. 2020). IT LOOKS LIKE THEY REALLY HAVE A CURE FOR 'CYCLE CELL'!!!
With the 'positives' happening now with recognizing black actors, maybe it's time they remake this movie...but with a much happier ending!!!
Can anyone write the english translation of these lyrics?
Signed, a white 57 year old Canadian girl, who (tried) to memorize the song at age 10, and/but still sings along with it today. 💖💋💖💋💖
I love this song, I saw it when I was young and never forgot it, so much passion. I like it even more now that I know more about the woman who wrote it. Beautiful
Saw the movie back in 1972 in Barbados and this song has been in my head ever since. Thanks for sharing this song from"A warm December"
2021 listening 🎶 Absolutely Soul Stirring 💥🤎💫
I loved this movie. I had a copy on a vhs tape but I can't find it smh. Such a beautiful film. Really enlightening about sickle cell anemia. Ester and Sidney, and the little girl from the movie 'Claudine' all did a beautiful job. I was crying by the end lol. Thank you so much for posting this. This scene always stood out in my memory of the film.
Essa musica me chama, me toca, me entra, me identifica, nós Africanos temos nossa lingua, nossa cultura, vamos para de imitar cultura dos outros e valorizar mais o que é nosso.❤️🇦🇴 Miriam Makeba Tuasakidila mamá

splendida versione peccato che non si trovi da nessuna parte
Merci :)
In response to Laidyeh, yes, this is Letta Mbulu! (Miriam Makeba had recorded this song several years earlier, but it's not Makeba singing in this film.)
Had to search for this original
Letta Mbulu was born to sing.
Gracias,Gracias....... por subir esta maravilla de canción.
"Warm December"
Black people are the world's most talented people!
the blacks, welsh and italians were born to sing. full stop.
nobody, but nobody, can convince me otherwise.
and even people who are half black, half welsh or half italian can sing!
just c heck out you tube for proof!! well, go on!
Can someone help, make means for it to be easily downloaded
Please, give me the name of this movie, that Sydney Pointier acted in.
what movie is this?
Who is singing this song?...Is this Letta MBulu?...
Thank you Danny...My first time hearing this young lady's voice was from the Roots soundtrack...I fell in love with her music...I bought the roots soundtrack as well as her album music in the air...Both were out of print, and I paid a pretty penny for both...Really didn't care how much, as I am an avid music collector...
I have that album, and did not know that was her...Now I have to go check it out...lol...Thanks for sharing...
Thanks, I'm still going to check to see if she is on it...
Is there anyplace to get an English translation of the lyrics ?
the translation shows right below your question on my computer. I hope you can see it and I think the person that place is there. I have been singing the song since high school and I love it.
+L Haggerty correction I THANK the person...
