X/Y adjustment doesn't rotate the image, they adjust the angle of application. That's why they skew. If you apply from a set rotation angle, but it doesn't line up with the angle of the part, you can adjust it with those sliders so the decal doesn't get skewed. You can see this for example at the mind alpha core. Apply something directly in the middle front, and it has a nasty stretch over the top. Adjust the X adjustment to -25 or something. Now the decal is only applied to the 'underside'. Just like if you placed it there from a -25 angle. You can also use this to symmetrically copy decals on the body: 1. Paste dead center (x=0.00), 2. Move left/right, 3. Apply x/y adjuetments for the contour 4. Copy/paste the layer 5. Invert and apply the same exact values for X/Y adjustment and sizing/placement (but inverted horizontally). This way you make sure your decals are exactly symmetrical without finicking.
@TeamKhandiKhane thanks, hope it helps to create even more beautiful mechs :) Skewing effect can be good too btw. For example for slanted letters: positive max distance and high angles compared to the frame contour. Works pretty well on the firmeza core sides!
This video was so useful, not for the main point of the video though, i already knew of the paste settings menu, but I did NOT know that THE CAMERA COULD SNAP TO ANGLES. now i no longer have to eyeball everything!
The VP-422 legs (Med. Biped) also have little flute pieces coming off of the legs, that can be decalled similarly. I want to try this on the Alba leg skirt space, on the back.
I just discovered this from watching Thryfe's decal edit stuff at the end of one of his historic builds videos. Just started using these about a week or two ago. Makes a world of difference in sprucing up your AC! Thanks for sharing this with everyone
another thing with placing decals that’s important is the angle. depending on the angle you’re looking during placement it’ll affect the surfaces depth and quality from the viewers perspective if that makes sense >_< like it might look great facing straight at it but once tilted to the side slightly vertically or horizontally, it’ll look stretched and dull

Yep, there's arms with stuff like that too and i can only imagine what this is going to do to some poor lammergeier lovers out there.

@@AgatBro yeah I've seen that before.
Love using the angle adjustments when doing decals on the lower part of Mind Alpha core
I can see that being a useful trick with the limited spaces it seems to have.
Absolute lifesaver. Thanks, king.
@dinosnore4269 happy to help
I remembering figuring this out by myself
Made my ACs so much more cooler
I really wish it wasn't an accidental find.
Holy crap thank you dude! I haven't seen the paste settings menu until this video!
It's easy to miss. Largely because we don't even have a prompt.

There's a website that allows people to share emblem codes. YT doesn't like links though. It's called AC Companion.

no problem.
What’s the share code for those vents? Those look SICK
