Over here we have the markets, the birds and animals in the street, children laughing, families gathering, singing and dancing with rustling leaves blowing in a gentle warm wind, with the smell of fresh baked goods filling the air. For those of you who have yet to visit a Renaissance Festival, I implore you to place it atop your bucket list. There is nothing like wandering the fairgrounds, as the early morning fog lifts from the tournament field, and listening to the musicians warm up, the bards reciting their daily lyrics, kilns firing up to begin blacksmithing or glassblowing, the hustle and bustle of taverns preparing for a day of rowdiness, and watching the Fae glide through the trees like phantoms. Without difficulty, you can find yourself transported back in time and live in the 16th century for a day or two. I miss my TRF family. I hope to see them this season.

Town depicted here: i think it's Quedlinburg, Germany. The townscape, combined with the castle on the hill, fits. The same imagery can be seen on the cover to a boardgame, Quacks of Quedlinburg.
It's the town of Spielburg from the Sierra Online game Quest for Glory I: So you Want to be a Hero? This would be the view down Tavern Street from Market Street, if the game didn't split the scene across two screens. The Hero from the game is the blond figure in the foreground with the very large backpack.
@Gin Oe there are many towns like this in Europe as that's where medieval era happened, hence why there are so many castles. England has many old looking towns/cities too e.g. Oxford, Chester, Lincoln very normal here.

ahh...settled into a relaxing repose, recalling a life lived past. With eyes closed and sounds abating, suddenly, a vision of the Saxon Lord - Sir Errol of Flynn, swinging through the forrest, face-planting himself onto the path afore me. Startled, I had found the fog that had begun to envelop me, dissipating and I was returned to this reality - the music had stopped.

Beautiful....Wow, I live (retired Army) in Idar Oberstein Germany. This art work has a striking resemblance to the view I get from the walk platz looking up towards the 2 castles (alt schloss and neu schloss). Idar Oberstein sits in a river valley with the Nahe river running down the middle.
I come from Germany, now reside in California. I had to learn the language to survive. Cannot help but ask: "What's a "walk platz"? What is "alt schloss" and "neu schloss"? Are you aware that the German language puts nouns together as one word? Example: Parkplatz - place to park. Have you noticed that nouns in German are capitalized? Like this: This is a Noun, and it is capitalized. May I introduce you to ... Neuschloss and Altschloss. Still no clue about your "walk platz".
@@channarosenblatt8197 Neuschloss & Altschloss do sound rather unnatural as well in German, though. It'd probably be something like Neues Schloss & Altes Schloss respectively; which I definitely understand how that could be difficult for non-native speakers to add the right case grammar-wise. As for walk platz, I can only assume they mean something like Promenade from where you have a good view up the castle; similar to the picture shown in this video.

I believe this artwork is a painted rendition of the town of Spielburg in the old Sierra Online game, Quest for Glory: So You Want to be a Hero. It's two screens from the game framed together as one scene. There's a produce stand to the right and a tavern all the way to the left. There's also a shady alley where you can get into trouble at night between the two buildings in the center of the frame. I remember it well! ;)

I've never been that aesthetically blessed before. It helped me unwind from all the harsh reality and trivial realms of life as soon as I put it on background. I used to be hopelessly lost in the flow of ideas, however, soon after having exposed to this music it as if evoked far better feelings within me oddly enough. I didn't expect it at first, nevertheless, I'd love to admittedly tell that you guys have given me a hand to pull myself out of these and revived again up to opportunities waiting for me ahead of years. Thank you all for this pleasure.

Ah, the blue and white bunting and the white cross on the blue sign may suggest that could a medieval Edinburgh. Maybe the warrior could be William Wallace perhaps?
I have heard that very first piece in two movies; One is Lady Jane, and the other was Mary, Queen of Scots. In the latter film Essex is singing to Queen Elizabeth and she tells him his composition is as good as his voice. He replies he didn't compose it, her father did, for her mother. Anne then asked him how his wife liked it.
Taverns and Inn during the medieval days must be filled with soldiers, travelers, beers, wines, foods, bards, and a lot of poems and stories

You got to love that slow stroll and adventure ambiance. I use your music to concentrate at work. Plus, is the artwork inspired of Edinburgh Market street? The flags, the castle, the houses.... The good old days,bough a tear to my eyes. I used to work near that area close the castle at a town officers house.i would get one silver coin per week for collecting town officers family poop.i would collect and dispose it at a nearby lake.life was easier back then after work I will come home and eat some rice porridge with salt. Good old days 😢

The scenery reminded me immediately of Marburg, an old town in Hessia. The hill with the big castle was not that rocky because the whole town was a mixture of old buildings and lush vegetation everywhere, a kind of smaller Heidelberg. But unlike Heidelberg, Marburg's old center still has medieval half-timbered houses besides medieval stone houses, colorful baroque houses and classicistic buildings.
My life was centered around the castle. In the beginning, I lived in the first house east of the castle. Then I moved into the nearest house south of the castle, that house where the romantics who studied in Marburg, met (Arnim, the Brentanos, the Grimms, Merau). And my main institute was in a mighty stone house, also directly under the castle and in the same architectural style as the castle.
Sometimes the beauty of the scenery was too overwhelming and distracting, especially in May when nature came to life again and ornated the town into a tourist romantic dream.
Believe it or not, it's a scene that was borrowed from a video game. This is Tavern Street (as seen from Market Street) in the town of Spielburg in the VGA version of Sierra Online's Quest for Glory: So You Want to be a Hero? The original split the street up across two screens, and the artist dressed it up a bit, but the buildings are unmistakable. The blond fellow with the big backpack in the foreground is the Hero character from the game itself, kind of a wink or an Easter egg for fans.
Although the name of the town Spielburg is German ("Play-castle", a term used for small wooden mini-castles as playgrounds for children), the architecture of the half-timbered houses is northern French style, maybe Brittany or Normandy. In the musical score I also hear some typical Balfolk music which also roots in the same region of France.
@@varelion The art is surely Spielburg, the music in this video are all original creations and not from the game. Sorry if I gave that impression!
Most of the score for that is more bombastic and aware that it's for a fantasy game. But the theme from Erana's Peace stands out as almost authentically medieval. ;)
@@GreyKnight7777 I said that some parts of the music is typical Balfolk music. This kind of music is based on traditional music of Brittany, also on traditional music from Great Britain and Ireland. It is a kind of folklore movement in Western Europe.
And yes, some of the older pieces were already played in medieval or renaissance times.
@@GreyKnight7777 I tried to track down the artwork and found an artstation profile by Jongmin Ahn (AJworks). Unfortunately it doesn't really list any extra information about inspirations or a project it was part of. Some of their previous projects were part of a cancelled Korean MMO WolfKnights so it probably makes a lot of sense that they would be passionate about the classic 2D RPGs.

I appreciate the fact that the first song reminds me of the soundtrack of a wonderful game by Ubisoft which I played as a child - Hype the Time Quest (it's a 3d rpg adventure about a knight in a small fantasy kingdom) - it sounds so similar! And I've always thought that game had one of the best OST with medieval vibe.
