For those asking if I will sell...I collect crochet hooks, all brands and varieties. I have a very large collection, these will be added to that (even the susan bates, I have many of those in my collection) The yarn I already gave to my neighbor after the video.... I apologize 😔
I was so cool seeing all the different color of hooks. I like the in line Bates the best. J is my fave size, but i use all sizes. I have 3 all gold J hooks. Id love to find a different color in line J hook. Its seems to be unheard of in Indiana, lol.
Lol,after reading your comment here all I could hear is Mr.Roger's theme song "Won't you be my neighbor ". That's awesome that you gifted the yarn to your neighbor, you truly rock.
Hi Crystal, I loved watching you go through the hooks and was hoping there was a HERO HOOK in there for you. I still have my very first crochet hook a Size G and it is a BOYE. I taught myself to crochet at the age of 16. I'm 66 now, will be 67 in November. Love to crochet and I've learned a lot from you. Thank you 💜🙏🤗🧶
Hi I am going to be 65 in October. I crochet my ex sister in law is the one that showed me how to crochet a big grannysquare blanket. She was there to help me with other crochet stitches when I wanted to learn more. My mother Learn how to knit when I was younger and she tried to teach me but I did not get it. So I have a very little bit of remember of some things to do. I love to crochet. Vickie A
Hi, Crystal! The name on that pretty pink yarn is Min-er-vah. I love finding you on my IPad with your happy face! Your enthusiasm makes my heart ♥️ happy every time…have a great weekend!
Lol, you smelling that first skien. 🤣 I love seeing vintage yarn and I love most crochet hooks. My favorites are the inline. Thanks so much for sharing with us.
Wow, a walk down memory lane. I used ao much Pioneer yarn! I made a baby blanket and matching big brother blanket with those same blues for my nephews when the youngest was born. They still use them. And Rhodes! My grandmother worked there and would pick up yarn or sewing supplies at random for me. I still have a handful of that exact "permanently moth proofed" yarn.
Cool! It’s fun to see the vintage yarn. I remember the Payless stores. They were called 5 & Dime stores like Woolsworth Stores. Had lunch counters in them also.
I used to buy a lot of Pioneer yarn at Pay Less (Rite aid now). I inherited my grandma's baleen and steel hooks. A few of them are marked 3 cents. Love all your unboxings!!!
Enjoyed this from beginning to the end! I love crochet hooks and when I’m out and about and come across hooks I buy them!! May not use them but I love collecting them!! Thanks Crystal!!
The homeless folks in my area (East Tennessee, USA) won't even accept scarves! They're afraid of being strangled! I have made almost fifty thousand hats over the last twenty-four years come November. I've had the privilege of sending my hats around the world with various charities and have enjoyed my work. If it weren't for second hand stores, I don't know how I'd afford the yarn. I used to get donations of yarn, but those have trailed off. God bless your busy hands, Ms. Leach!
Love looking at the older yarn , also . I use Susan Bates hooks . I had some Boyd's Hooks given to me and I give them to friends who like them . Right now I have Knitting needles to give away . Love and Hugs .
That was awesome, just think of the ladies that use to crochet with that kind of yarn, and how many wonderful projects was made with the older hooks, I can only imagine how beautiful they were.
So exciting! The old yarn was super interesting and the hooks ahhh I loved the hooks! I also am not a fan of inline, I have a ton of vintage hooks from my great grandmother and grandma. Mostly boye some were only 5cents! I love using them and my hand fits the ones I typically use right where their hands wore the paint off. 😊
Oh boy! Every time you said “Boye”I smiled. I now need to check out the website. I had no. Idea. I have a lot of my Grandma’s hooks and many vintage Boye.
I like Boye hooks better than inline hooks too. I have 2 Susan Bates hooks and the rest of my hooks are Boye. Some are really old. They belonged to either my mom or my aunt. I have been crocheting since I was 9. I am now 65. I love your videos and your tutorials are great. Thanks for the video Crystal!😁✌🐑
Hi Crystal. I was holding my breath hoping there was at least 1 Hero Hook in there for you. You did get a metal 7mm hook which is great. The metal hooks I use are antiques now (I think). They're called Tailorform. They are an inline / tapered hook & can't be bought in brick & mortar or online stores anymore. I love them & take great care not to lose them. Great video...always love your enthusiasm! ❤️🧶
Awe Crystal, I learned on Susan Bates and can't hardly use anything else. We love what we start on I guess. I loved seeing all the vitntage items. Have a Blessed evening.
I remember Rhodes Department Stores from many years ago. There was a big one in Seattle, where my Aunt lived. She & my Mom bought their yarn, when I was a kid. Nice haul!!
This was fun! It’s fun seeing all the older yarns. I’m sorry you didn’t get a Hero hook but you got plenty to add to your collection! If I ever see one I’ll grab it for you! Thanks for sharing with us!💞
Hi Crystal Payless stores were thrift stores. They had a fairly large assortment of cosmetics, yarns, dishes etc. They were similar to a Ben Franklin dime store. It's fun that I came across this video you did tonight if you unboxing this box of old yarns. I really enjoyed it. There was a box of old crochet hooks in it.
I love going to goodwill! I'll have to check out the online auctions. I'm always on the lookout for unexpected bargains! My daughters have a business that sells unique and valuable gifts. We have found items for $2.00-$3.00 that were often worth $50.00-$75.00 easily. Found a Kate Spade handbag for $5.00 that was worth more than $100.00! I hunt for yarn, crafts books and of course, clothes. Thanks for the fun unboxing!
It was fun watching you look at all the hooks and yarn. I can't remember what my first hook was. It was blue and plastic size F. I can tell you that it sure was bent. I got it at Hills or Kings department store. It was around 50 years ago. I'm not sure if it's still around here or if I threw it away. I remember everything about it but the name. I do remember seeing Hero hooks back then. Man it sure was bent and skinny. I used F hooks for so many years. 🤗😇
I love boye. I would love hero if I could ever find them. I am definitely not an inline hook person. The yarn was fun too see. The stores are native to the northwest. I grew up in Boise, Idaho. I am familiar with the stores. Thanks for the fun 🧶💚
When my grandmother passed away all of her crochet hooks, knitting needles and tatting needles came to me. Most were Boye, but there's are a J and a K Hero and a size 1 and 6 Hero steel crochet hooks. There is also a Milward steel hook. Never heard of them.
That's funny! Those are the yarns that I get gifted now and then and I use them for my purses I love the odd yarns to make purses. Susan Bates are the only hooks I would use and I've never seen a hero until I started watching your channel. Thanks for sharing your fun yarn journey.
Hi Crystal, Lion Brand does Pound of Love. Caron does One Pound. I use both but, love Pound of Love for baby items. Caron's new color variety and softness has improved a lot. I'm sorry we didn't find a Hero in the box. I'm always looking for them, since meeting you. ❤️ I love your videos! 💕☮️🧶

Thanks for sharing, Crystal! Enjoyed seeing the older yarns (some I remember or used) and all the hooks. I love having multiple hooks so I can keep my hook w the project. I always have multiple projects in process. Enjoy your hooks!
In the 80's we made pull over sweaters with that brushed acrylic my fave was the sayelle worsted so soft and washed up well. Looked like the angora sweaters from the fiftys. Lol
Thanks for sharing. My neighbors have been bringing yarn and things from garage sales. Lots if the old yarns, some Ice Yarn that is discontinued, etc. Several months ago they brought me hooks, mostly Boye which I don't use, yep a Susan Bates person, and in that batch is a Hero. I was so excited.
I started crocheting in the late 1950s when I was about 4 years old (my mom taught me). My hooks from back then are mostly Boye (my preferred; that's what Mom used) and mostly just have the letter designation and the number (no size in mm). I also have my mom's old steel hooks she used for doilies.

I loved seeing the yarns almost more then the hooks. The old yarns are interesting, especially when the prices are on them. I use to pay those prices.
Had to run check my collection of metal hooks...I have been crocheting over 50 years...so have most of those you showed. Interesting yarns as well. did not know good will had the auction. Thanks.
I just recently found quite a few skeins of vintage yarn! A lot of discontinued yarn, red heart wool that's discontinued, I just started making small projects with it and I love it so much
It was a lot of fun looking at the older skeins of yarn with the price tags on them. That is a nice collection of hooks. I too don't like the inline hooks.
I like Susan Bates, actually prefer them! What a colorful assortment of hooks! You could have a Christmas tree with the hooks as ornaments! They would look like colorful icicles!

No need to apologise!!! I love collecting hooks!!!
I love having collections of my favorite stuff. No need to apologize.💚
I was so cool seeing all the different color of hooks. I like the in line Bates the best. J is my fave size, but i use all sizes. I have 3 all gold J hooks. Id love to find a different color in line J hook. Its seems to be unheard of in Indiana, lol.

Fun mystery
I love the susan bates hooks!!!
Payless was a discount store like a Kmart. Pioneer was my grandmothers favorite yarn, and I crochet with my other grandmothers favorite hook a hero j.
Thank you 💜🙏🤗🧶
I will also be 67 in November. I learned to knit and crochet around 10 years old
I will be 61 in Nov. Hey, we are all in the November 60s club!! 😂🤣 Scorpio or Sagittarius...Nov babies rock! 🧶❤️
Scorpio here
@Cathy Baker
I'm Nov 22nd so I'm on the cusp and I do have traits of both Scorpio and Sagittarius. It's pretty interesting to have both. 👍

Leave it to you, Crystal. You keep coming up with unique content! You’re the original. Other channels can only try to imitate BOD.

I gotta start looking for old hooks! Bates and clover are my favorite. I guess we all like different hooks! Lol.
Hi Crystal, your so sweet, I enjoy when I have time to sit down and watch you, especially doing your unboxing. You make it all so fun!
In California went had Payless stores, kind of like a K-mart. That was a fun box.

Hello BOD Family!! I love mystery bags. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Hi Crystal! I love getting yarns from thrift stores. I do most of my crocheting for donations (mostly to homeless shelters). I make scarves to share.
I love crochet hooks but I get my from Walmart. Nothing fancy. You have help me so much thru the years, I almost feel like a pro lol
I love vintage things. So cool to see the old labels. When I had extra money I searched everywhere for a Hero...couldn't find any.
Yep use to shop at Rhodes all the time until they went out of business. I am from Tacoma Washington
Wow Crystal! All the hooks alone are well worth the money. Cause with everything else they can be high priced to.👍👍
👋hi Crystal! My favorite thing is going to G-will. Never knew they had online! Thanks girl!
I enjoy watching your excitement when opening up your hauls...😁

Iline’s are my favorite. Sorry you didn’t get your Hero. Thanks for sharing! That’s a good mystery box. Have a good night!!!
I like Susan bates. Definitely not a boye fan. You got lucky with the large hook. Usually I only find those in plastic
Cool yarn
Nice collection of hooks. I have only ever seen knitting needles in thrift stores. Yarn there is lots but it comes from a smokers home.
I started crocheting in the late 1950s when I was about 4 years old (my mom taught me). My hooks from back then are mostly Boye (my preferred; that's what Mom used) and mostly just have the letter designation and the number (no size in mm). I also have my mom's old steel hooks she used for doilies.
Check goodwill yarns… I searched “crochet”… there is a large selection of nothing but Mandela yarns in one. There are also more yarn and hooks auction right now. I loved seeing the yarns almost more then the hooks. The old yarns are interesting, especially when the prices are on them. I use to pay those prices.

I love getting hooks at thrift stores or garage sales. I have a collection of steel hooks and I don't use the fine threads. 😆 I love crocheting prayer shawls with the Homespun yarn. Boye is the company I use the most.

Rhodes was a department store (with a notions department if i remember!), that later changed its name to Liberty House. We shopped there a lot when i was growing up. I specifically remember buying my first-day-of-school outfit there for 7th grade! I worked there in college (in California) and it was MY VERY FIRST JOB in the linen department! Memories!
