    I clicked on this so fast! This has to be my favorite series on UA-cam! You are hilarious. I love the idea of no power tools and you have such creative ideas for the walls and the way you explain it makes it seem a lot less stressful! The wall actually looks awesome for some reason when I saw the video thumbnail I thought you were actually going to put crushed up pots on your wall. I think my favorite walls have either been the diamond wall or the book shelf wall because they remind me of studies and hidden places. I really love these different ideas and I can't wait for more!

    I love this one! As someone without access (or the know-how) to use power tools, this is a great way to get great results!
    I also feel like this one would really work with different colours!

    Sweet! I can totally see this in a Hacienda decor home in my Palm Springs area. If I had a beach house...🤔 I would do your same waves 🌊 with the texture going horizontal on the bottom half of a wall. Paint the wall a blue ombre style of colors (so you can have light blue water caps on top, & deep blue on the bottom). The finishing touches would be to add decor above; a surf board & nautical decor ⚓ on the wall. Than play the sounds of waves crashing in the background, while laying in a hammock as a bed, & drinking a refreshing fruity🍍drink. Oh yeah! 😉👍

    • @lowes
      @lowes  6 років тому +2

      Ombré would look amazing on this one!! Kinda wishing I'd done it now, haha.

      Well we have renters in there right now because my wife and I are moving to AUSTRALIA! Our one way flight leaves on October 18th and my last day at my job was today! We won't be there for too long, maybe 9 months? We've been planning it for a while so it's crazy that it's all happening so fast!

      Right?! My channel content is definitely going to change. We're actually heading over there as a step of faith to put God first in our lives and see where's He's going to take it from there. Daniel, I binged watched your series a couple times. I just bought a new house and I’m definitely doing the Terra Cotta idea. I’ll record it and share. Also, mad props to Lowe’s for sponsoring this series. I have a Lowe’s around the corner from Home Depot. I’m switching my brand loyalty because of their awesome videos. Comes at a good time because I have countless fix it jobs and stuff to pick up. This is not only helpful, but it’s inspiring. THANK YOU!!!

    I think I'm with you on it being the favorite. I enjoyed the other ones, but, this one, especially contrasted against the green of the leaves, is so beautiful and natural looking. And, as I really like green, that really got me interested. I was playing around with ideas around wood and mixed metals for a place that has an open-concept kitchen with living room plan. I think this could help tie it all together even better.

    • @lowes

    This series makes me so excited to own a home in the future! Our current house (which we only just moved in to) is wonderful and unique and light, but we're not even allowed to do as much as hang a shelf or painting to the wall (so even dryboarding wouldn't work). Can't wait to have saved enough and be rooted enough somewhere to buy a home and start DIYing!

    Love the look and the way the light hits the high and low points. However, I have to say that I still think my favorite is the "Built-In Bookshelves Wall" followed by the "Wood Faux Brick Wall." Daniel - your excellent direction and guidance on product and installation as well as the added tips you provide make these seem like projects even your basic homeowner could easily accomplish. Keep up this great series - I'm loving it!

    This is pretty neat. Not for me, but I can see the appeal of this for sure!
    BTW- After watching your built in bookshelf video, I built a whole wall of shelves in my office. You said a few simple steps, and you were exactly right. You made it look easy, and I gotta say, it was. Just took some time... some late hours. I'll make a video with some before and afters for you. Instead of lights on the header I installed a rail for a ladder... a ladder I have yet to build. It's coming. Thanks so much for helping me do something I've always wanted to do. YES. I actually thought about the continuous spiral pattern when I was halfway through this pattern, lol. It'd be a little tricky spinning your trowel around that much & off-loading the removed texture, but it could be beautiful!

  • @danelle4314
    @danelle4314 6 років тому +1

    I love the idea behind this wall design. We are building a house, and all these cool wall designs are giving me fits trying to pick the style I want. I think this design will work great with all the wood we're adding to the floors and such, but I am concerned with how to hang pictures or other wall art. I am thinking the plaster will chip with the first nail, and those demand hook thingies won't stick to the design. I am thinking this design would work best in an area with no wall art.....like perhaps between the upper and lower kitchen cabinets in place of tile.....hmmmmmm Yep yep yep. Thanks for all the ideas. Keep the ideas flowing!!

    • @lowes
      @lowes  6 років тому +1

      Yeah, this one's a little trickier for wall art, BUT it can be done! The 'valleys' of the wave design go down to the drywall level, so you could pop a drywall anchor in there pretty easily. Wouldn't be hard to patch up later, either. I like the backsplash idea, though! Just use a higher gloss sheen for cleanability 👌

    I love how this turned out! I feel like textured walls have gotten a bad rap after the pastering and sponging days of the 90s and early aughts. It's nice to see an approach that feels more timeless.
    Any chance of seeing a take on any of the other ideas from the user choice episode? There were some great things there I'd love to see played out.
    This is such an inspiring series, keep going!

      Glad you liked it, Janelle! I agree on the wall texture's bad rap...I think the context and how it's decorated makes a big difference, too. And yes! I'm totally with you on those other designs, so stay tuned. Just didn't want to be too predictable, you know 😜

    I'll do this, but paint it blue. since the ripples look like waves, blue would be so cool!

    • @lowes
      @lowes  6 років тому +7

      Yeah, very calming and nice 🌊 I also like +Monique Ramirez 's idea of doing the waves horizontally and painting a blue ombré design to mimic the ocean.

      If you really want to zen out and take some time with it, you could probably dry brush some white or light blue onto the peaks to give the waves a more frothy look too.

      Whoa. This is getting pretty next level now. Somebody seriously needs to try this.

      Having blue waves might be nice as a back splash for the kitchen or bathroom.

      Rowen Raven that would be so cute! The brown just kinda looks like something a baby made.

    Wow, this is very cool. I think it would be neat to use this technique to create a textured Van Gogh starry night type wall.

    I live in an old farmhouse, and I'm longing to ditch the fussy antique china cabinet for an artsy statement wall in the dining room. I love all your wall projects! Any tips for making one work in a vintage house?

    • @lowes
      @lowes  6 років тому

      Hmm...depending on the shape/size of the room, I wonder if some derivative of the built-in bookshelf wall would work well for that space? It's adds lots of coziness, could be painted (distressed, even?) and decorated to fit the farmhouse vibes, and you wouldn't lose any of the storage space that you had w/ your china cabinet.

    It’d be cool if you travel around, kind of like the weekender, teaching people how to do it while working on an accent wall. As long as the style is submitted ahead of time so you know what you’ll tackle when you get there. Just an idea 🤓

    Try the same thing with cowdung, fine soil and a little adhesive. It looks great like we have done with Hotel Accord, Mumbai Eco Rooms
