I wasn't falling asleep. Great story and so cool that Bill can remember all that without having notes and not skipping a beat... Bill, if you're reading this, you do a great presentation and I love your sense of humor!!
That's right! I want to HEAR the complaints of the weather and the beasts! Love it! And the car is fantastic! Larry Shinoda and Zora Duntov, real car enthusiasts!!!!
Bill, you don't have to apologize for anything. You're reviews are the best. You're the only auto reviewer I know of who does historic homework and brings that into the review. I love the way you 'round-out the videos by going on with how annoyed you are by things. And I especially love when your totally jaded demeanor comes out to play!!! Thank you for all of it!
Bill this is one of your best reviews ever! Corvette encyclopedia for sure. What a beautiful Vette !! One thing they were many that caught my eye were the stout door hinges. Definitely looks over designed for the time period. Amazing & stunning piece of machinery. This model year was also the year I was born too !! Thanks for sharing your wealth of Corvette history!!
I used to be partial to "Nassau Blue" until I saw this color combination. I actually think I like this better. Kind of reminds me of a color GM had years ago called Champagne Mist ( or something like that). And as always, the history lesson as only Bill can give for those people that thought they knew it all, until they heard Bill speak. Thanks Bill !!
Oh my god. Is this the one I saw you profile earlier with power windows, air and auto? Better than CORDOBA! I win lotto I'm buying this and moving to Switzerland. I'm glad you redid the video. Your style has evolved nicely. One of the most beautiful designs ever.
Loved the presentation/history of the car and Corvette! My high school research paper back in the day was on Corvettes. I'm sure my English Literature teacher's eyes glazed over!😂
In 1963 I was a junior in high school working after school in a library. My boss was a "spinster" in her late 40's maybe early 50's . She looked the part of a typical librarian Frumpy clothes, Ortho shoes, no make up lived alone with her cat. We had a chat about car. She told me her car doesn't rust. It was a brand new 1963 Corvette convertible!! It was the entry level Corvette, 327, 2bbl, 3-speed stick and radio delete. But still a Corvette!!
Thanks Bill, I appreciate your informative videos. They relieve the boring stint I spend on the treadmill several times a week! Some people are suggesting changes you should make to your methodology. I wouldn't change a thing! Keep on keeping on and many thanks again!
The pinnacle of GM's styling.....This one is a true "cruise all day long, look at me" beauty!!!! And with a long legged blond in a short tight black dress at your side , O M G ! ! !
Such a beautiful car! And, as usual, a reassuring curmudgeonly Bill introduction. Never doubt your instinct for good content. I watched the original video and this one, back to back. A masterful delivery each time; the car may be the same, but you and we are different. That's one of the pleasures of re-reading old car magazines, at least for me. So, this was as enjoyable as your original effort and then some 👍! Besides, where would we be without rabid goats and covid Whiskey? Be well 🖖🙏🇨🇦
I love C2 Vettes, but 65-67 are my favorite due to the 4 wheel disc brakes and 4 wheel independent suspension. But I never liked the white walls , they dont do the car justice. IMO
Yes, it’s a lot of information, but I stuck with you the whole time because it’s a fascinating history lesson, and I respect you for your knowledge base and research skills. I just watched while eating dinner 😂 Great video!
Well done, Bill! I had a '65 Vette back in the early 80s nearly identically equipped. I loved that car until it go totaled in an accident. Even so, it was awesome while I had it!
How was the A/C in your '65? I was surprised that the former owner of the reviewed car here had upgraded the A/C because A/C back then was powerful as far as I've known.
@@discerningmind Unfortunately, my '65 didn't have AC. I lived in the northern US at the time so it was rarely an issue.. Mine wasn't specced out a lot but I did have the power windows, but just a 2 speed Powerglide transmission, which I've read is quite rare these days. I did have the 327 carbureted motor which was quite impressive.
It may have been tested in a wind tunnel, but it was not as aerodynamic as it could have been. Pete Brock has a great story about that. FYI we are not asleep. Great video. Thx.
Great job and very funny delivery. Got one of these bad boys being built right now. Modern chassis/trans, LTS3 powered, wilwood brakes, ac, etc. Can’t wait. Thanks for great backstory, very interesting
I'm convinced that our beloved narrator take his breaks and goes to the breakfast nook for a two finger aged 12 years Sandwich. LOL. I love him! I also doubt he uses any notes as he has a perfect memory. Great stuff and killer cars every time all the time!
It's absolutely crazy what i learn from your videos sir!!. Everyone else talks about the same ol thing over and over but with you I'm always learning and discovering cars that i would of never taken a second look to do thank you for taking the time to make these videos i greatly appreciate it!!!. And not all snow flakes are helpless hipsters lol but most are lol.
This has been the best thing about this Sunday morning! My own thought on the automatic vs. manual thing is this: Dealers didn't stock them. And even if they did stock cars with manual transmissions, they were poverty spec cars, largely to have something in stock for the purposes of a newspaper or TV ad. I'm not necessarily talking about Corvettes, but in general. As an example, at one point the standard powertrain on a GM-10 Cutlass Supreme was a H.O. Quad 4 with a five speed manual. Motor Trend tested one, and while it wasn't spectacular, it was at least a change of pace. But even for the advertisements, you'd never see this in an Oldsmobile showroom. In short, one reason the C8 doesn't have a manual available may have its roots in the average American car dealer being unable to move from thinking manual transmission = cheapskate to manual transmission = enthusiast.
I still remember as a kid sitting cross-legged in that rear space of my brother’s ‘63 split window as he took our old man for a ride. When we hit a bump, my head whacked that piece running down the middle, but I didn’t care because I knew I was in a very special car.
Absolutely beautiful! I can never decide the most beautiful car made between the mid year vettes or the Jaguar XKE. May be faster cars but just gorgeous 🙂
It’s a travesty that you don’t have more subs. You provide the best history and hilarious content and I have shared you with every car guy I know. Thanks so much
I had a Hot Wheels toy of this when I was a kid, around 1970? I couldn't believe it was a real car, it was too beautiful for that. What with the Ford Anglias, Morris Minors and Hillman Minxes that were in regular view, this amazing shape, I was convinced was just in the mind of some artistic dreamer.
The first car with the pop up headlights....ahh yes pop up headlights, man I love those things! To see them out front popped up, they're almost like a hood scoop in a way.
The '61-'63 Pontiac Tempest and LeMans had a transaxle like the Corvair. My dream is to put one on a C5 or C6 Corvette chassis that has the front axle stretched forward 10" to match the wheelbase and allows the retention of the stock torque tube. Will I ever get to do it...probably not, which is sad because I am too young, thin and hairy to be seen in a C5 or C6.
Great review Bill. Facts and figures in abundance and we love it. Beautiful car. Wish we had them here in Australia. Too expensive now. Catch you on the next one. Take care.
A stunningly beautiful car... somewhat understated earth-tone colors inside and out, but when you really start looking at it... Wow! We wouldn't change a thing. We love your history lessons... and your rant. Keep up the good work!

If I owned this car, i would become obsessed with it. It’s just stunning. Beautiful from every angle.

If you really want to deep dive into corvette history look up tvr stories on UA-cam. They have a 3 part extensive history from the c1 to the c8.
This has been the best thing about this Sunday morning!
