i just recently upgraded my Arrma Fireteam's ESC and motor to a Castle Mamba 8s with the 1650kv 1717 sensored motor, and i honestly wasn''t expecting the sensored motor to make as big of a difference as it has. If it wasn't $100 off on the day I ordered it i would have went with a max 6, and im so happy i got the sensored setup. its *so* much easier to control than it used to be, now the throttle does *exactly* what i want it to
For 1/10, 1/8, and 1/5th Big bashers, I prefer un-sensored as they work just fine. They also help because of the hard start and stop when flipping. For crawlers, onroad, and offroad race buggies and truggies I always use sensored.
The new hobbywing sensored 3665 4000kv dosent fit in the Associated Pro 4 Sc10. Am i better off with the sensored 80 amp combo with 3652 4100kv. Or the Sensorless 120amp combo 3660 3700kv. Want to run on 2s when racing and 3s for park fun. Wish the had a 140amp 3660 4000kv sensored combo lol
@@RCexplained Yea buddy…Boost it! Preordered the new HW G2 Max 5 system, and Xmaxx is getting boosted, I have a feeling it’s going to be pretty sick:) 250 amp continuous, 12S, and 25deg timing boost, time to jump trains, order spurs and pinions, and start building lots of diffs!
I have a tugboat with none sensored outrunner motor direct drive. Works fine apart from start/slow manouver work, like in docking compertisions (rough jittery). Would it be better to use a sensored outrunner if there is one, also at a reasonable price?
Just put a HW 10BL120 sensored system a carpet buggy. Turns out I need to reverse the rotation of the motor . This esc does not have a rotation reverse function.
@RCexplained for sure. The manual says that if the motor is rotating in the wrong direction, then this esc system is not suitable for this chassis. I'm a bit surprised this is the case.

So I'm also building a carpet buggy (AE B6.3) I've got a Hobbywing XeRun V10 G3 Sensored Brushless 10.5t motor and I was thinking in getting the 10bl120 but the sensorless version of it.. Just wondering now if it will do the same as yours and be unfit for this frame.. How did you sort your one out in the end? Cheers.
Not sure if it would work or not with a B6.3. That car uses a different layout than the car I was using. With a right hand side forward facing pinion. It was on a WLtoys buggy. I ended up buying a Toro esc. It was around $80 but work great and plenty (if not too many) of tuning options.
Although sensored motors are good for rock crawlers you can get the same performance and smooth slow start ups out of sensorless setups. I use both sensored and sensorless and in no way is one better than the other...
I'm just a backyard basher so I appreciate the simplicity and generally lower cost of the sensorless motors.

What about TURBO? I usually race 13.5 Wheeler, so can’t use it racing, but Turbo for bashing is awesome! In my opinion, of course:)

I'm surprised you have issues with a boat. I would not go sensored for a boat.

Oh, I was specifically talking about the SENSORED 10bl120. Obviously the sensor less, you only swap two.of the wires.
Prefer sensored in most things. Even on faster vehicles, I still stop and start a bunch and cogging tilts me a bit.
for sure and sensored definitely helps with starts.
Always use sensored on my 4x4s, only a select amount of 2wds like mid motors
