Thank you soo much Michael.very clear explanation of grasping of the form.i have had this experience twice and as soon as I grasp what is this ,IT disappears.
Tks for doing this y'all. I hope you know how much it's appreciated. I would be so lost to NOT have this sacred connection and Enlightenment/Liberation teaching from a direct conduit from Bhagavan. Wow--learning and enjoying so much!
Wherever you touch the sweet, it is sweet ; in the same way whatever our questions may be, Michael sir concludes ,only and only self exist, there can't be anything other than this.
Respects to the great masters and spiritual teachers... words can explain but it's ultimately the experience..that experience comes when we fully surrender under hopelessness...it's like when stomach is full we don't feel anything....hit the bottom of your life with no hope then you start to experience the true self with unlimited courage and happiness..for me that's the only way to realise self when hopelessness takes away every little desire...
Just about to finish The Happiness of Being. It seems that I need constant repetition of the core teachings in order for it to eventually sink in. Namaste.
Namo Ramana Ted, Sairam . I could not agree more with you in all that you have shared in this video. Thank you for the beautiful quote : Shifting sands of time reveal the inadequacy of nirvikalpa samadhi , not to speak of all other states of manolaya ~ beautifully explained by Brother Michael James - to Sum up Ted its a Purna Renunciation of Every thing and even the breathing - the calmness of the mind in and as a continuity steadfastly , hold onto self-attentiveness will with the Eternal Grace it will be ManoNasha - a Permanent Dissolution of the Mind. Aum Namo Ramanaya 🙏🙏🙏

When I give my attention to mind I am dissatisfied. My mind is never content with any of the answers to my questions. When I give my attention to my sheer existence my mind relaxes into a molten warmth of loving peace. Eventually my mind protests and insists on having my attention back. So I ask my mind. "Why do you want unsatisfactoryness?" "Let us remain in that which shines in the heart as I AM." "Let us be done with it".
Hi John. Am I correct in thinking that if I am applying consistent effort turning my attention within according to Bhagwan's instructions for practising Vichara then the guru/God will bear any burden necessary in order for me to remain inwardly attentive/practising Vichara?
@johnmcdonald260 Hi John. Are there different intensities of vichara? For example if the conditions are favourable then one may find the vichara going significantly deeper than at other times? If guru puts us in challenging circumstances then the practise is more difficult but could lead to increased confidence and more developed skill? When I notice that my attention has strayed to thoughts I realign my attention back to 'I am'. Previously I didn't acknowledge that I was already directing my attention towards my life interests. I ignored this in favour of declaring that vichara is dualism in action. Now I have realised that vichara is that same attention redirected towards that which is Truly fulfilling. We are all practising the art of directing attention. So why not direct the attention towards something that will make us happy.
It feels as though Bhagwan is within me. There is a sense of steadiness when I turn within. If I wasn't subject to His grace I don't think I could do it. It's as though He has taken up residence within me in order that I might have a sense of tangible 'I amness'. But I am a novice so perhaps it is just a temporary measure to help me become established in the practice.
Concerning the purpose of Ramana as an avatar, after deeply going into it, I feel that it is not the explicit (oral and written) teaching, but the silence of the presence of the teacher for which he came. His legacy, in the seeming absence of Ramana is the scriptures (verses) we have. But I feel the formal process of self-investigation is meant for us who are not immediately aware of the presence of the Master, yet at some point surrender to the silent presence is necessary. Today I read this excerpt which seems to corroborate that feeling: M: You will know in due course that your glory lies where you cease to exist. In order to gain that state, you should surrender yourself. Then the Master sees that you are in a fit state to receive guidance, and He guides you. D: How can the silence of the Guru, who gives no initiation nor does any other tangible act, be more powerful than His word etc.? How is such silence better than the study of scriptures? M: Silence is the most potent form of work. However vast and emphatic the scriptures may be, they fail in their effect. The Guru is quiet and Grace prevails in all. This silence is more vast and more emphatic than all the scriptures put together. - Maharshi's Gospel, P27-28
@johnmcdonald260 I only used the word "avatar" to encapsulate the idea that Michael expressed that Ramana was here with a "purpose". Then I did not say that it's about "feeling the presences" but that I feel that is about the presence of the Master. I imply that there is only one Master. Not Ramana and other Masters, or Avatars. Surrendering to the One Master, is key. And self-investigation is what reveals that key. In that sense, the presence or absence of Ramana is immaterial. But of course, with his presence the focus of "silent transmission" was more accessible. In his "absence" there is perhaps a bit more work in general to dispel the idea that the Master is not present ...
@johnmcdonald260 where do I say that is about "feeling" the presence of the Master? I say the presence of the Master is key. Why do you turn that into a feeling? We could discuss what that presence is if not a feeling ... if you "feel" like it ... ;-)
@@filip5 when you say that," in his presence the focus of " silent transmission " was more accessible " ,you limit the power of the Guru in time and space. If his silent transmissions were only accessible when he was in his body then again you've assigned a limited form to the illimitable. Once bhagvan told a devotee who's Guru had telescopic inner vision and could see people and places that were far off. Bhagvan Said ,what difference does it make if the vision is near or far? It's still the same vision!
@@harjotmahal8985 I agree, but I did not mean it that way. I mean to say that we have the illusion that the Master is absent and so we need formal self-investigation. At some point we need to realize that the Master is present anyway and surrender. The Master is none other than the Self. Ramana came in the flesh to dispell that illusion, paradoxically making the silence of self-abiding accessible in his physical presence, so that we can be free of the physical. Seeing a photograph of him or even thinking of him works the same way. Yet at some point all that needs to go through surrender. It would be limiting to not allow this process of approach, through the physical, through thinking of him, through the oral and written teaching even, to say that only the Self is real. For then the coming of Ramana is meaningless. He comes to make his coming redundant. That's the freedom of compassion.
Been practicing please explain what to know by way of confirmation, what are the flagposts, so to speak, of discernment to be the pure " i " ? - Thank you for the explanation Namo Ramana 🥰
It is telling that no one has responded to this in 5 months, sadly. It is a very good question. How do we know we are doing it right? aRe there signs of getting closer? I wonder what MJ would say. Is it discursive or not, or somewhat so? Is it purely silent, no mental talk process? If one has done this for considerable time and not seen anything, is one wasting one's time, sinking in quicksand, so to speak, lost in a fog? I am disappointed that this crucial question has drawn no response, whereas if we were serious, which we indeed are, it is difficult to account for why no one responded.
