I love how the first verse and chorus sounds like "dave ghrol featuring nirvana" and then Kurt and Chris both turn their amps up at the first possible oportunity.
I was born in the late eighties, and I love when people ask me while I collect old, out of date vinyl. I look them right in the eye and say, " Lady Gaga." That's why.
@GrungeyMr lol your so right! But imagine being 15 and walking into your local record store to this!!! I was born in 85 and missed the bus, untill i think bout 97ish wen i got into music. It was all Nirvana, Metallica, Korn, Rage against the machine etc then.. yes i know i missed out heaps of others i.e. Offspring etc, c'mon i was young!!
this is kick arse. coming back in to rock it home after the break down section. purely awesome. dude with good audio of this gig. you need to hook up with the video dude and sync it for the rest of us.
yea. i was born in 86. too young to remember nirvana's impact and popularity in 90s. (if born in late 70s or 1980). even though i recall seeing nirvana's the music videos on tv in 90s. i dont even recall the sad news when kurt died
@xXtristangoesrawrXx I was born in '86, brotha. And, I wish I had been born in '80 so I could have really grown up in the middle of all of this. I was about 7-8 when Kurt died. I can still remember the news report on MTV. so many bands I was too young to appreciate, let alone discover until later. you have only scratched the surface of 90s classics w/ Nirvana. Keep searching, little brah.
this is definitely one of my favorite nirvana songs. and man if i had been there i would have started a mosh pit.... those ppl were lame... its like they say, you dnt know whatcha got till its gone... i bet a lot of those ppl regret that they didnt totally go crazy at that once in a lifetime opportunity to mosh 3 feet away from one of the greatest grunge bands of all time
@pot4tots hell yeah we can agree... it's up to bands to decide what genre they want to categorize themselves ... but yeah Melvins were super nice people... they played in Toronto Canada ..an evening with the Melvins, 3 hours of Melvins. They stuck around after the show and took time to speak with all the fans that stuck around for autographs... there were only like 200-300 people in the show, that's why i think they don't come here often, they on tour right now but US only : (
If you don't like the music today, pick up a damn instrument get a few of your friends together and change it!! Nirvana wasn't happy about who was on the radio in the early 90s either. If Kurt were alive today I'd think he'd laugh his ass off at what passes for radio play now.
are u in any way related? he was one of the greats in my time when he died i was one of many who cried when he died . he opened so many doors know what im saying he made it easy for people to love something and that is why he will always remain in my eyes to be the greatest
For people wondering what Kurt did between 1:11-1:14 he broke a string and was taking it out of the guitar so that it wouldn't interfere with the other strings.
Best Nirvana period ever......just released Nevermind, but right before they got huge (SNL etc..). Still small enough to pack a record store performance etc.
@mickydeman -"Inspired by hardcore punk, heavy metal and indie rock, grunge is generally characterized by heavily distorted electric guitars, contrasting song dynamics, and apathetic or angst-filled lyrics. The grunge aesthetic is stripped-down compared to other forms of rock music, and many grunge musicians were noted for their unkempt appearances and rejection of theatrics." I beg to differ with you.
@mickydeman you know what? You're actually right. People have totally forgotten the magic behind good music. It's not an art form anymore. It's more of a trend. Like all other things theese days.
I was born in '82. In the 90's, I had a fucking wonderful childhood. Things were great in music till about 2000, or 2001. Shit just started to suck after '99 basically...
@3rni3PL Me too, i'm still listening to all the music I discovered in the 90's...never cared to see what's happening now because there aren't any new waves of rock bands worth listening to ( except QOTSA)
So what music store was this? How awesome would this have been to get a private show from these guys at a local Guitar Center etc...? These people were lucky as hell.
@mickydeman well grunge is an extension of punk when you really think about it, Nirvana does not fit in the Punk mold because they are a bit different than what punk is stereotyped to be, therefore the term grunge fits very well when describing this new punk style that branched off at the perfect time. Genre names just makes it easier to describe a certain style of playing that's all. This is why some people hate genre labels but at the end they help us describe band styles.
"He's the one Who likes all our pretty songs And he likes to sing along And he likes to shoot his gun But he knows not what it means knows not what it means when I say yeeeaaahhh"
Cbgbs was like a two month in advance wait for bookings on it's later years. I've played there, I've played many places in NYC, the sad thing is this: these places don't care if you fart on stage for thirty minutes, as long as you have a paying audience. When Kurt played NYC for the first time it was in a little place called the pyramid. There a total of 20 ppl there. If it's in front of 1 or 1000 ppl play it cuz it's what u love doing first.
@g00mba00 Correcting myself from below, I didn't mean finalized by Andy Wallace, I meant mixed. I think the mastering was done mostly by Howie Weinberg and maybe Wallace & co. contributed to some as well. Vig might've actually even produced the album, I don't remember and am confusing myself now. I just know that his mastered mix of SLTS is a lot heavier than the album's, presumably done by Wallace.
@mickydeman That last part depends on your definition of good music, how patient you are with music and whether you're hooked on adrenaline pumping songs or not. Good music never dies to me and there's always good music if you look. However, Mainstream wise these days it goes unnoticed by large.
I love how the first verse and chorus sounds like "dave ghrol featuring nirvana" and then Kurt and Chris both turn their amps up at the first possible oportunity.
I was born in 1978, so I was right about 14 when this hit my small town. It was an amazing time in my life. I found out what real music was.
pure nineties. my elder brother grew up in early 90's and he says he still have chills when he hears this stuf.

One of the best live perfomances of Drain You
I travelled through You Tube and end up on this perfection!!!
I was born in the late eighties, and I love when people ask me while I collect old, out of date vinyl. I look them right in the eye and say, " Lady Gaga." That's why.

If you don't like the music today, pick up a damn instrument get a few of your friends together and change it!! Nirvana wasn't happy about who was on the radio in the early 90s either. If Kurt were alive today I'd think he'd laugh his ass off at what passes for radio play now.

it doesnt even matter if its grunge or punk it fucking rocks and thats all that really matters.
it was auctioned off in london in 1996 i believe at christies and it went for around $200,000
are u in any way related? he was one of the greats in my time when he died i was one of many who cried when he died . he opened so many doors know what im saying he made it easy for people to love something and that is why he will always remain in my eyes to be the greatest

@mickydeman -"Inspired by hardcore punk, heavy metal and indie rock, grunge is generally characterized by heavily distorted electric guitars, contrasting song dynamics, and apathetic or angst-filled lyrics. @mickydeman you know what? You're actually right. People have totally forgotten the magic behind good music. It's not an art form anymore. It's more of a trend. Like all other things theese days.
Actually, the Jag-Stand was designed by Kurt himself and a luthier made it for him... but the fender Jag-Stang started producing after his death.
Yes, that is Dave on drums. He joined Nirvana in 1990.
wow! When was this vid? Wicked!
Even with a broken string and a few wrong notes, Kurt could still give a great performance!
legend~!
I was born in '82. In the 90's, I had a fucking wonderful childhood. Things were great in music till about 2000, or 2001. Shit just started to suck after '99 basically...
kurt's hair = so pretty!
i would love being there
@3rni3PL Me too, i'm still listening to all the music I discovered in the 90's...never cared to see what's happening now because there aren't any new waves of rock bands worth listening to ( except QOTSA)

I like Kurt's little knee slap at 1:14
WOOOOOOOOOOOOW
