I used to design stamps many many years ago and now draw a lot of images for myself to use on cards. It’s so easy to do, anyone can do it, especially if you are creative. You then also can create the perfect sentiment to match in a font that you love. It’s great to use for alcohol ink markers & watercolour too, so no more smelly messy permanent ink. Love that you spread the word with this video ❤️🇦🇺
I used to do digi stamps but I fell off the wagon and started buying photopolymers again. I’ll have to attend a Stamps Anonymous meeting and get set straight on the path to cheaper stamping using digis!😄 Thank you for reminding me.. now i need a refresher course in cutting digis with my 1st generation Cameo!
😂😂😂 I know what you mean 😂 I don’t think I will ever stop buying physical stamps but these are such an awesome alternative and I really wanted to bring attention to them! The print and cut function on the Cameo works perfectly with digis!
I have used digital stamps but honestly I love how tactile actually stamping the images is. I love being able to flip through all my stamps and physically seeing them in front of me. But I agree there are so many great digital images out there
I love stamping too and I don’t think I will ever give up physical stamps. But I really think digis are great and I wanted to bring some attention to them 😊 Thank you for watching and for your comment! 😊😊😊
This is a great informational video - definitely removes some of the obstacles by showing how easy they are to work with. I had no idea you could print from Silhouette Studio! lol!
I have never used digital stamps but I think I am sold now! I will for sure have to try them! I never knew there was so many options! Thank you for this video!
Thank you Laura ! You’re right, digital stamps was an intimidating concept for me. But thanks to your video, I’m definitely going to give them a try ! Love your channel !
Yay, Carry! That’s exactly what I wanted to do - try to show that they can be SO easy and fun! Hope you enjoy them and should you have any questions feel free to ask them in a comment - I will be happy to help!
Thank You for shedding light on this. I have been saying for years that digital stamps are so underrated. They are eco friendly, techno friendly and they are very friendly on the pocket. Also it's way easier to organize than all those God awful "fridge bins" lol. I am hoping this is the future. I am a new subbie btw and I love the style of your videos.
LOL I love my fridge bins and photopolymer stamps but yes digis are waaaay too underrated! Great point about them being eco friendly - I feel bad for all the plastic and paper we use, but I never considered that digis provide a plastic-free alternative that doesn’t require manufacturing and transport. Thanks for pointing it out! 💖
I need to check and see if the shops you recommend have stamps I can use on cards that I sell, if there is a commercial license option. The places I’ve seen in the past had a lot of restrictions on how the stamps could be used. Thanks for the tip that there are so many sources. These would be great for cards I donate to charities.
I would love to see this too. My request is to learn from the very beginning. I have purchased two digital images, but I’m not even sure if they are only cut files or if they can be both. Thanks!,!
This is awesome thanks sharing it. Ive been considering digi stamps for a while now... purely because of space... im definitely going to take a look at some more of these! Thank you!
I loved the video, Laura! This is such a great example of thinking outside the box to stretch your crafty budget. And crafty godmother, that’s a good thing!
I love the silhouette software. I use it for my Cameo, but have always loved resizing things with it. I also use it to plan my card lay out. Loving these short videos you have been doing lately!
Thank you, thank you, thank you! I really needed to hear this. You took away my 'fear' of digital stamps and pointed me to an easy printer choice. Love your videos Laura 💛.
Laura I just love you videos. You do a fantastic job. I love how it's so informative but still gives me a giggle here and there. Keep up the great job. 🤗
I love your videos, Laura! Always so cute and informative. I'm just starting to use digi stamps....maybe because my craft room is full of traditional stamps! Keep up the great work!

Thanks for sharing this Laura! I had no idea that I could download Silhouette software and print. I don’t own a silhouette machine however I print off a LOT of digital stamps using app called PICSART but your video looks so much easier. Thank you 😘😘
I know this is last year video, but I just found your channel and love your videos. ( really love your talking ink pad, so cute, makes me smile) Thank you so much for this video and for introducing me to Silhouette Studio. I have been hesitant to use downloaded stamps. Not sure of what I am getting. Your endorsement of the Etsy shops make me happy. I have gotten other things from Etsy and was very happy. Thanks again.
Thank you so much for all your videos. I really your perspective and your sense of humor! :). Could you share how you include your digital stamps in your inventory? Basically, I'm looking for a way to not forget about them when I'm flipping through my physical stamps looking for an image.
OMG this was soooo helpful, Laura!!!! I am desperate to hear more about your canon printer!!! I have been trying for ages to find a printer that will work with digital stamps and have never had any luck. It sounds like the Canon in your link will handle up to 140lb watercolor paper???? Is that 300 gsm? And you can printer in pigment AND dye ink?? Please do a video soon if you can. Your video has raised my hopes that using digi stamps really might be possible after all!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!
How do you control which black ink cartridge you print your digi stamps with? I have a Canon PIXMA wide format printer with two black ink cartridges and didn't know one was better for alcohol markers use than the other.
Hi Mary! Here are my settings Alcohol markers: Print on glossy paper, standard quality, Greyscale or Color Water based media: Print on plain paper, high quality, greyscale only. Make sure duplex printing is not selected Glossy and plain paper are just the print settings, I load whichever paper works with my medium (Neenah for alcohol markers and Canson XL/Bristol Smooth for water markers)
Awesome per usual. I have used these but always felt a little like I was cheating - thanks for the validation that this is ok. Also the two inks in the canon...? Who knew?? Well I do now. Thank you!
They are amazing and I don’t think it’s cheating at all! It’s just another tool to have fun with! ☺️💖 I did quite some research before getting this printer and the two inks plus being able to print on watercolor...I was sold! I am very happy with it! Thanks for watching!
I LOVE DIGITAL STAMPS! I have used them for years, and the Silhouette program is my design medium of choice. I wish I had your printer though, as it seems to be perfect!
Oh yes, you totally should! They are really fun and are great also when you need a specific image in a pinch and - obviously - that’s the exact one you don’t have in your stash! 😂
I've been using digis for several years (check out Lili of the Valley in the UK!) via Word. Silhouette seems much easier to use - thank you so much for your tutorial!
I love LOTV! It’s one of the shops in my favorite list on Etsy that I added to the video description! I personally find Word a little frustrating when it comes to images...with Silhouette I find it easier to position them as I like. I usually print a full sheet at once and squeeze as much as I can to minimize paper waste 😁
Arg thank you! I need to try this. I have a good amount of digital stamps and it's always trial and error with me. Sometimes I get it done right and other times I don't .
I will make more in depth videos on printing and using digis! You can check the printer’s specifications on the manufacturer’s website to see what paper weight it can handle. :)
I’m really liking your videos, so I decided to subscribe. I had no idea about digital stamps, this video really opened my eyes. I giggled when you explained about the cartridges in your printer, I work at a local store that remanufactures all types of inkjet and toner cartridges. You have what we call a “tank” system, so I am the person that remanufactures all the tank style cartridges. I’m called the Tank Queen or Tank Talker at work. I bet your cartridges are 225/226’s or 250/251’s or higher. And I know your machine has 5 cartridges, the smaller black is also known as the “photo” black. Your machine is way better than the canon’s that only take two cartridges, those machines are a nightmare. So glad I found your channel! Gotta go watch some more!!😉😊
I love digis, use them all the time, and use all the same stores you mentioned ;-) Also bugaboostamps, liliof the valley, tiddly inks, clearly besotted and createasmile and timefor teadesigns have some on the webshop, there's loads out there
Have always been wary of downloading digi stamps as I don't know what to do with them. Thanks so much for your info. What do you find us the best cardstock to use.
So happy the video helped! I typically use Neenah 110lb for alcohol markers and Canson XL for water based media. Bristol Smooth is my go to markers like Zigs or Arteza. You only need to check the maximum weight the printer can handle and then I would say go with your paper of choice depending on the medium. 😊 If you have any more questions at any time just leave a comment and I will be happy to help!
If you like one layer cards digital stamps make life so easy, as you can create your scene on screen and print. No masking and no white edges around the image. Easy peasy.
It will depend on the printer, not every printer will work. With mine I need to use different settings depending on which one of the two inks I want to use. But it will be different for different brands. I am happy to share my settings if it helps :)
Ciao Laura!
Yes you can use them as many times as you like. They always come with a license, that explains any restrictions, but they are generally about wether you can use them for commercial uses or not. I have never seen limitations on the amount of times you can use them. 😊
Hi, Laura. I am wondering if you were able to see my message? I saw your video and am SO SO SOOOOO interested in the PIXSMA TS5020 printer. (I had left you another comment about a day ago it.) What was the heaviest weight paper you have used in it? By chance can you get 140 lb watercolor paper thru it? I am extremely interested in using digital prints and found your video extremely helpful! I need a printer but have held off until I could find one that I could print on 110 lb cardstock and Express It paper and OMG can I really get a watercolor card thru it??!!
Hey I am sorry for not replying sooner! I was actually working on a video about printers! Yes, I can print on watercolor paper like Canson XL which is 140lb :) It’s a great printer for digis!
Aw thank you Roberta! Never thought of it, I just like being silly!😂 I am happy it makes people laugh - we need light-heartedness and I hope to provide some while sharing my tutorials and tips. 😊 I will definitely check out Angie Bloom, I don’t think I know her!
@@LauraVolpes you do provide that light heartedness and that's what I liked about you from the first video I saw of yours. That's what made me subscribe.
@@enelson3293 It's an HP Officejet Pro 9010. I just purchased a Canon PIXMA iX6820 but haven't used it yet to print/color digi stamps (only had it for a week)
My Canon Pixma works very well - no smearing at all and no problems with the markers. It’s similar to using a water based ink to stamp your photopolymer stamps - alcohol inks won’t react with it so it’s perfectly fine!
This is an important point. Not all printers use an ink or toner that is suitable for colouring with alcohol markers. So if you’re considering purchasing a printer to use for digital stamps, it’s important to take into consideration 1) that it will take the weight of paper you like to use for colouring 2) the ink or toner will work with your preferred colouring medium. :)
Yes, having the right printer is important, and it is hard to get the right one. I have 3 inkjets and none of them feed cardstock well and the ink smears!
I haven’t had issues with mine - as long as I select the correct ink when printing. Even if you don’t want to buy a new one you can definitely print them in a shop. That’s how I started. Print shops usually have large laser printers and I have never had a problem with my markers smearing the inks. The reason why I don’t have a laser printer at home is that they can’t handle 300GSM cardstock (the huge commercial ones do, but well...they are huge and very expensive 😂) Hope this helps! And thanks to everyone who chimed in to reply 💖💖💖 you are great 💖😍
There is a lot that can be done with digital stamps, I agree! I just try and be careful when I find free images on Google or Pinterest, as they are sometimes distributed without the artist's permission. But other than that there are so many options!
Hope you liked the video! Here's my new one on choosing the BEST PRINTER for digital stamps! ua-cam.com/video/8ySmurEQeEw/v-deo.html

Yes, they are great!
Great ideas! I sometimes just open a Word document to create and print a sentiment if I don’t have the right stamp.
Yes! I don’t always have a lot of patience to stamp or die cut a longer sentiment and typing it is SO much faster!

Look for digital stamps with an ‘angel policy’. This allows you to sell your cards with the images, so long as the card is handmade. ❤️🇦🇺
Yup! Some do allow it 😊

@@LauraVolpes yes, that’s true - the sky is the limit there, so many possibilities!
Yes, I can print on watercolor paper like Canson XL which is 140lb :)
It’s a great printer for digis!
Can you heat emboss them?
No, you can’t. :) If you use a laser printer you can foil them though. The one I showed is an inkjet and can’t be used for foiling.
Did you want to be a Comedian when you grew up? You are really good. Thank you for the giggle. Angie Bloom has some great digis.
Aw thank you Roberta! Never thought of it, I just like being silly!😂 I am happy it makes people laugh - we need light-heartedness and I hope to provide some while sharing my tutorials and tips. 😊
I will definitely check out Angie Bloom, I don’t think I know her!
@@LauraVolpes you do provide that light heartedness and that's what I liked about you from the first video I saw of yours. That's what made me subscribe.
Why are people so afraid of digital stamps?! 😱 They seem like a good alternative in a pinch or not. Speed and variety!
I love them and that’s why I have been wanting to make this video since forever! Cause they can be fun to use and they have SO many benefits!
One reason is there are some dishonest sellers out there selling images that aren’t theirs to sell or giveaway.
@@LauraVolpes Make us a card!!!
@@bertas-cards Would that come back on the purchaser if it's just for personal card making?
I’ve been browsing but not buying....question, is the printer ink safe to use with Copics or other alcohol ink markers?
I have an inkjet printer and use my alcohol markers all the time to color my digi stamps
@@crazyhappyhomelife1721 thanks, I appreciate you sharing your experience with me
@CrazyHappyhomelife, what printer do you use for this?
@@enelson3293 It's an HP Officejet Pro 9010. I just purchased a Canon PIXMA iX6820 but haven't used it yet to print/color digi stamps (only had it for a week)
My Canon Pixma works very well - no smearing at all and no problems with the markers. It’s similar to using a water based ink to stamp your photopolymer stamps - alcohol inks won’t react with it so it’s perfectly fine!
Thanks this is great
Don5 have the right kind of printer. The ink gets muddy.
The reason why I don’t have a laser printer at home is that they can’t handle 300GSM cardstock (the huge commercial ones do, but well...they are huge and very expensive 😂)
Hope this helps!
And thanks to everyone who chimed in to reply 💖💖💖 you are great 💖😍
I have often told people, just go to bing or Google images. Print em for free. Why not?
There is a lot that can be done with digital stamps, I agree! I just try and be careful when I find free images on Google or Pinterest, as they are sometimes distributed without the artist's permission. But other than that there are so many options!
