  • How to make croissants at home and make your house smell like a French bakery. That’s not a joke, the smell alone is well worth the effort of this recipe. Once those hot little babies from heaven come to life, try and resist eating them. Try resisting eating just one!
    This will be one of the most rewarding pastry you will make. Why not roll them up with a bar of dark chocolate and make chocolate croissants. I will be honest and tell you now that it is a technical recipe and it may take you a few goes to master it.
    However no matter what the outcome, I can guarantee that they will still taste incredible. Please watch the video several times before you make this recipe. It’s actually quite simple when you break down the steps. Enjoy home made croissants at home.

    When I used to live in Frankfurt, there used to be a French bakery right next to my place that made the most delicious croissants (along with a massive variety of other items) every day early in the morning. Having it 1st thing in the morning with an espresso was something I looked forward to most mornings. The aroma itself was so satisfying. Sadly the croissants I get in Sydney don't come close to the ones we get back in Europe. Your croissants look a lot like the ones I used to enjoy. I'll be honest, i would never try to attempt to make these coz I totally suck in baking, but it looks damn good! Well done mate. 👍🏽

      Shilpa I can totally relate to your story. Something magical about walking into a bakery first thing in the morning followed by a fresh coffee! I would live just for that moment!

    Ah Joel, back to french style, thought you were going to use up all your italian recipes before May the way you were on a roll there, lol. A good croissant sandwich, a good sliced ham and swiss, but for an expensive indulgence, if you can find it, the spanish black ham/pig that feeds on hazelnuts and is free range with swiss gruyere on your homemade croissant.       Very true, I will stock up my port folio with new material when I get back. As for the ham, I think the French won of the Spanish last time. Either way, a quality Ham and cheese croissant is hard to beat!

    Watching you make this is so mesmerizing and relaxing, I'm envious I am still trying to make no knead Dutch oven bread, I don't get why I can't get it right, I'm a pretty good cook, baking bread is frustrating the hell out of me 🙄

      Probably the type of flour? Are you using a high protein bakers' bread flour? Also don't over prove it if you're in a warm climate, that's where most people go wrong. If it's very cold, it may need longer.

    Only today saw your video. I'm a normal person, so I love croissants, though in Greece, where I live, they are not even near to the original stuff.... The recipe seems easy and very clear, didn't expect that... But I wouldn't dare to make them as I may probably succeed (.... That was a joke though I consider myself a quite proficient baker) and would start making them weekly.... I am OK with my existing culinary vices, I don't want new ones!! Also, at some point we have to start watching more carefully what we eat and the amounts and I just cannot say no to a fragrant croissant and coffee. To make things worse, I would eat it as we eat them in Argentina, with dulce de leche, so that would be plain terrorism against my arteries.... Better long for another visit to France and enjoy them there.... After all, the local boulangeries count on us!!
