- So how does the new Histar Aurora Air do in cast testing? It might be the shortest casting bfs reel so far lol

I'm trying to get into the BFS world, I was thinking in the Aurora Air BFS and the SoloKing Acura BFS, which one would be better for like 1.5g to 3g lures.
Also I get over 75 foot casts with a 2 gram and above lures with no problem internal on 2 and external on 2 1/2 to 3.
Hello, colleague. Thank you for the interesting review. However, I think that the test of the reel can be continued. Try putting the internal brake switch in position 0 or 1, and the external control in position 2 or 3. This will allow you to make sharper and stronger throws, without bird nests. Then your jerk bait (5g) will fly much farther than in this video.
try putting internals on three ( locked all magnets), and then start tuning down external brake settings while casting. will guaranteed get you the longest casts.
So I've just been on the water for an hour to test my new Histar Aurora Air BFS.
What can I say, I'm really excited about the role and together with the HANDING Magic L 1.68m Casting UL-F
1.5-9 grams 👍👌 I tested the roll with the standard bearings of my new hybrid ceramic

Spooled with 0.23 mm Fluorocarbon from (FTK) and fitted with a 3 gram dropshot lead.
Now the settings for the dynamic 3D magnetic brake system are at 3 and for the external brake system I am at 2.5, I get a throw range of 38 meters. I don't think that's that bad for a start... unfortunately it's still closed season 🙄 otherwise I would have preferred to use real bait to throw...
Magic L is the shiznit. And so is Auroura.Tight lines to all.
How is the FTK line? I have some coming in .165mm

I could not figure out why use a baitcasting setup to fish lure lighter than 1/4oz.
Casting accuracy, efficiency, fun, style. Open water isn't where they shine
@tralight I do spinning, casting & fly and I feel none of casting accuracy, efficiency feature better than a spinning setup in fishing lure lighter than 1/4oz. The only advantage I would think of a casting setup might have over a spinning setup when fishing light weight lure is using inline spinner. I think you would not experience line twist in a casting setup. Other than that, picking the casting setup over the spinning setup is no more than just personal preference.
@@watchan1908 when casting into say underneath an overhanging tree I think it's much easier to have the ability to thumb the spool of you're going to overshoot so that wants up in better overall accuracy in my opinion

I enjoyed the video, I havn't used mine for anything over 1.5 grams so far so it was fun seeing how it would handle a little heavier lures. I like the casting of this reel with the light lures but am almost scared to actually catch an angry stocked trout here because of a few of the noises I hear when I retrieve it lol. I should pull this one back out and give it another shot though, it is fun to fish with.
I use mine for 1-up to 7 grams. Works like a charm. haven't tried heavier yet.
I heard the tolerances and built quality aren't so great; it feel very cheap and plasticky

I know there are 6-7 people that have this reel other than myself. They all have mentioned the handles slope. The problem is in the tolerances for the main shaft bearings and anti reverse bearing to the reel housing. But if you put shims between the bearings and housing you can get rid of the play in the handle
hopefully they will fix it at the factory level
who wants to shim every reel you have? Just buy and fish. Guys that play with reels suck at fishing. While your shimming your handle i'm wackin' 5 pounders. 🤣😂

Why use a bait after when you can use spinning? My point is that we make choices like buying cheap reels and modding them is because we enjoy it
@@yep.fishing You can polish a turd and make it pretty, but you still have a piece of excrement.. If you want a Calcutta Conquest don't buy a Purelure. Buy the best you can afford. The less you try to" improve" a POS the better off you are. If you want to be a tinkerer then that's your choice but don't pretend it makes a cheap reel a quality reel. I have this reel. It is great for a budget Bfs reel. maybe if I put a shim on it I'll have an aldeberan.😂😂😂 .

Mine is definitely different from yours.
As this reel might be known for now: varying quality.
I have tightened down the main shaft to handle axel. Because some of the slop is there.
There is still a little between ar bearing and reel house, that I haven't done anything about. But doesn't feel any of that while fishing it.
I also put ballbearings and shimmed up the handle knobs.
I have about 50;hours of use on mine. And it's only gotten smoother.
The retrieve is silky, and with no inertia. And it casts like a dream. And my spool bearings don't make that hizz sound at at all when casting.
Mine lays line really nice.
It's the best reel I have. My Acuras, and micro monster are tighter, but I cast further with this one, and easier.
I have my internals on 3 all the time. And my externals usually between. 0-3.
If they could guarantee a second purchase would be like this one. I'd buy a second in a heartbeat .
And it's so ergonomically lovely to palm. It's like fishing with my hand.

How do you fill the gap between the main shaft bearing and the body? I have a plan to buy Histar GT20 Pro.

I don't see anyone else pumping out as many quality reel review videos as "TheReelTest".
The only improvements i can think of would require access to a large testing facility that could miminc field conditions, a robot casting arm, and comparisons between 3 to 4 types of fishing lines. No business is willing to sponsor the cost to satisfy those ideas above without requiring the results to fall in their favor.
Still the best reel reviewer on UA-cam, despite his obvious favoritism for Shimano Products.
