I had a hernia, it became strangulated and almost killed me. I became septic, was put in a coma for 20 days and ended up needing surgery. They wouldn't fix it immediately because I was 450lbs!! It is not something to be proud of! You're not the sharpest tool in the shed!!
Can I ask what your symptoms were? I know strangulated hernias are very rare and are supposedly excruciating. Was yours like this?

Depends on the hernia- some are more serious than others depending on where they are located- can become ischemic (cut off blood supply etc) whilst others can go undetected for years and years

Fr. I was scared to get a small lump on my neck looked at for weeks. I just ignored it but was aware it wasn’t going so I finally dragged myself out and faced the anxiety. It was a scarred lymph node that was inflamed due to stress 💀 It’s gone down mostly now haha

A hernia is not that serious. It is truly the least of your problems. Tons of people have hernias and never know. Being 550 pounds and 5’2 is FAR more of a problem
It can definitely be serious especially if it becomes strangulated. Leaving it untreated can lead to sepsis. I'm not sure how common that is to happen but surely she would be more at risk at her size
A hernia can be very serious ….I personally had a strangulated hernia and it was treated and it was treated as a life threatening condition and scheduled for immediate surgery

Omg ok you don't just get hernias from being overweight. You can get them from pretty much doing anything. I have 4 currently due to falling down stairs after surgery. You can't just get them removed.... it is an abdominal tear in your abdominal muscle meaning in order to fix it you need to have the abdominal wall sewn back together. Also you would be in more pain and any slight bump around the area where it is tends to hurt. I haven't seen you act like you were in pain since your "DaNgLiNg AnKlE"

Its odd to me that they would want you to write out a trauma. And you are by yourself. That is a big chance of retraumatizing yourself and you have no tools to help you calm down and not sprial. This seems very odd imo. Especially dealing with ptsd patients this seems like a weird assignment. The risk seems too high than to just go over it in your 2 hour session.
She had to have asked for it. She requested that she write shit down. She thinks she’s a great writer, this is her chance to show off & brag. Then she will read these passages to us for attention. She’s so predictable. You’re right though, those with actual trauma they’re struggling with wouldn’t be told to do this.
I was thinking the same. I found it very weird that her therapist/psychologist (not sure which one since she uses them interchangeably) would want her to write out in detail her biggest trauma and then read it and relive it every day until the next session. It just doesn’t seem productive in the slightest in terms of finding healthy coping skills. It’s definitely not something I’ve ever done in my personal experience with therapy. But hey I never know what is true and what isn’t with her.
It’s called an impact statement and it is a completely normal thing to do. I had to write one before I was even accepted into a therapy group for PTSD.

That's a good point, especially when talking about something as severe as PTSD. People get into all sorts of shit when it gets triggered, and sometimes the smallest things can set it off.

I havent been to therapy but WHAT type of treatment is it to have someone with "PTSD" write abt their traumatic experience in vivid detail and reread it every day???
Idk, I’m not a therapist either & only ever went to mandatory therapy as a minor, but that whole process her therapist is having her do sounds absolutely awful. Something like that would make me depressed & relapse (Anorexia), I’m sure. I wonder if this is a normal exercise for trauma…? No idea. Hopefully someone who’s been to therapy for PTSD can fill us in.
i was so shocked when she said that's what she was supposed to be doing. i guess it's similar to exposure therapy for phobias? especially because she said that he commented on her ability to tell him things now that she would've never talked about before. it seems like overkill to make her read it every day though

Am a therapist and would never. She has to be lying. EMDR is used to process trauma by revisiting it in a controlled way but many need prepared long before to even do that. She's full of it.

I just had that thought too. Dark under eye circles. Lots of facial wrinkles and signs of aging that shouldn’t be there for a woman of her age that never goes outside. She certainly doesn’t look like a woman in her prime.

Even as someone who's eternally grateful in this economy to be financially comfortable I don't even shop as much as this woman. It is INSANE to me that we watch her chase these false diagnoses and we see her actual untreated and unaddressed issues on full display.
Between my partner and I we almost earn the same as Amber, and we don’t spend money the way Amber does. We also have lives, we travel and own our own home. Amber literally has nothing to show for the thousands of dollars she’s spent over the years.
My hubby and I earn a decent living. Probably 3-4x what Amber makes and we live very frugally. We save and stretch every dollar to save for early retirement. She needs to think of the future, God willing she is still alive

Anxiety and memories are not PTSD. I sprained ligaments in my foot and ankle about 10 yrs ago, and I still feel it. Clearly it was far worse than what Amber experienced. It was 5 months before I could walk without acute pain, and a solid year before things started feeling okay-ish again. It will never be fully back 100%. It happened when I fell off a very tall curb (over a sewer drain). I'm still very careful about large curbs and feel a little pinch of anxiety when I step off one. I remember the accident when I step off a high curb. Anxiety and memories are not PTSD.
