Obsidian is the best track on the whole record, one of my favorite all time songs EVER. The EPIC mixing and the wall of sound element with perfect drumming and guitar sounds. Immaculate
Not to mention the multi-layered "breakdown" at the end. I just love how they hit you with the first wave, and then bring in the cavalry to knock down the rest of your expectations; no mercy
This album has been on repeat for me.. it’s rare these days when an album actually feels like a cohesive piece of music. And not just a bunch of songs smashed together. It all ebbs and flows, and still keeps a common theme and vibe going through 13 tracks. Also my favorite song literally changes everyday, I can’t even pick one. My new favorite reactor channel for sure, looking forward to more from you! 🤘🏻🤘🏻
I am only 8 minutes into the review watching your Echo Chamber reaction and I had to pause it to come comment this. I'm impressed with this video and your format. The review after each song, having time stamps for us, and having your reviews from the singles play are huge plusses for me. Awesome work. Earned a sub and a like from me my man.
Thanks Connor! I’m so pleased to hear you like the choices I’ve made here. I try to make the videos that I myself want to see so great to hear I’m not alone in this 😄 This is actually the first time I’ve done a full album video (minus “Clockwork” here). I’m definitely going to be doing this again for albums I’m keen to check out in full. For example: when Architects drop their next album I’ll definitely do the same. Cheers for the sub! See you in another video!
@@SteveOGRock I almost didn't subscribe because clockwork wasnt included in this..... Jk. Dude seriously awesome video and keep up the content. I will be paying attention from here on out. If I was able to get one request in...please PLEASE check out Polaris if you have not already. Masochist, Pray for Rain, and The Remedy are some of my favorites. You will not be disappointed. Do it. Trust me. Polaris is the future of metal. Cheers brother.
I fucking LOVE Polaris. “Consume” and “Voiceless” are two absolute faves of mine. Had the pleasure of seeing them live a couple times back in 2019 I think it was? They are immense.
Saw these guys live with Sleep Token and Plini on Saturday and can safely say their live performance is disgustingly good. 100% agree with you that they outdo themselves in person. They make albums like this and Alien, which are so solid after being run through the production mill, absolutely pop in person. It was like a rave with guitars. The light work and pyrotechnics was something I haven't seen since much bigger bands like Parkway or Architects last toured here. First of your videos i've see, and love your format. Thanks for the fun reaction!
What I adore about this album is that there's not THE ONE song that sticks out or makes the match. Everybody seem to have their own favourite track. I couldn't even decide. If people don't like it, it's okay, but then they should just go ahead and listen to Quantum Flux forever.
I probably listen to this album 4 or 5 times a week. Love it. So good, every time and still finding new elements to their mix. Looking forward to them hitting Europe asap!
I'm going in Germany to see them with Architects and Sleep Token... ffs XD absolutely my top 3 bands right now in the same concert... who the hell thought it can be actually possible O.O
Obsidian gives me chills every time. My favourite Northlane song at the moment I think. In my opinion this "talking heads" style brutal moment is exactly what the album needed and it's placed perfectly.
👏👏👏 This was everything I was hoping for. The front half of the record was just beginning to feel a little samesey but then it took some creative mellow turns that broke up the dynamics and gave it some very nice texture. I won't go track-by-track, but Xen/Cypher/Nova was the highlight of this record for me. That trio worked so well together. This is a strong contender for my AotY list. Loved getting to listen to this with you. Great stuff. Thanks for taking the time to make this.
Yes, there was starting to be a risk of “these are all dance groove with some heavy” but then it definitely got interesting in later tracks. Although it came out a while ago, Plenty is still a contender for fave track for me. But Cypher, Xen, Obsidian are corkers. And Echo Chamber actually. And I love Carbonized. Damn it’s a good album haha.
The album has so many songs that pair together to create great stories, either as a whole album or in trios, great album, above the rest that just cram songs together
I comment really, REALLY rarely myself, but as much as I love Northlane and this album, I loved every single bit of this video! You earned a new loyal fan, man, I enjoyed every second of this video and for sure looking forward into your content. Keep it up!
I don't think people realise how genuinely impressive Northlane is at creating music. They are all so musically talented and evolve even more every album.
I get a few people commenting saying they hate that I talk over the music, but I try to listen to the songs as intended: continuously from start to finish. And then also try to express what’s going through my head in my first time reactions. For some it seems to strike the right balance. Glad you’ve found it worthwhile Nicholas!
Literally had to pause the album playthrough with my friend last night and ended up searching "eh eh eh whomah" on google to pleasantly find porcelain because Nova reminded me so much of this song I remembered hearing when I was like 10. Nice ear my friend.
Yeah Jonathon, the bassist and basically writer of most of these songs and creator of most of their synths specifically said moby was an influence on Nova.
Another UA-camr did a track by track review of this album and said the same thing about Nova! When he mentioned it, I had a "holy shit" moment because I haven't heard anyone mention that band since I was like 12 lol. Definitely big Savage Garden vibes and I'm cool with that ✌️
just found this band a little ago really like them good review! could you review Ascent of the Blessed by caliban? not sure if you really take requests but it would be really cool if you did! again really cool review keep up the good work thanks!
Gorgeous album, bit of a grower however. Inamorata is unnecessary in my opinion, but Xen, Cypher, Is this a test? and Echo Chamber still hit super good when they come up!
Xen is one of my favourite Northlane songs ever, just such a vibe.
That chorus is just epic.
Same! I can't get it out of my damn head and I wouldn't want to!
100% agreed
Just breathe in, savor the taste
Obsidian is the best track on the whole record, one of my favorite all time songs EVER. The EPIC mixing and the wall of sound element with perfect drumming and guitar sounds. Immaculate
When the lo-fi guitar riff starts in the background to build up the song, I get chills every time and that chorus is insanely cathartic 🙏
Dark solitaire is great too💯👍
Marcus low growl vocal part is brutally
@@DJENTISNTNOTAGENRE Marcus said that carbonized and dark solitaire is the hardest song to wrote in obsidian album 💯🔥👏😁
Not to mention the multi-layered "breakdown" at the end. I just love how they hit you with the first wave, and then bring in the cavalry to knock down the rest of your expectations; no mercy

Yeah for sure, just when you think “oh I guess they won’t have a heavy song like Talking Heads on this one…” BAM! Haha.
That bass line in the verse parts of Nova is insane.
I agree!
I wasn't sure if that was bass or a synth?
👏👏👏

cypher had me hooked
Those gaps in the grooves riff section early on are so fucking good.
Cypher is actually about the character from Matrix. Makes sense when you follow the lyrics and makes the song even more badass.
i started liking them around mesmer, Alien and Obsidian have me hooked.
Great reaction vid mate. One of the best.
Xen - soo uplifting, Obsidian - terrifyingly satisfying
Chyper and Obsidian are my two favorites
Yeah mean, you mentioned Massive Attack. Nova really sounds like a 90's trip-hop song.
The album has so many songs that pair together to create great stories, either as a whole album or in trios, great album, above the rest that just cram songs together
It’s brilliant. I can’t stop listening to it.
This album is their best work 💯
Great reaction mass respect
The breakdown after the quote in Cypher made this album of the year for me I don't care whatever else comes out
I have Cypher on a loop some days. It’s sick.
I comment really, REALLY rarely myself, but as much as I love Northlane and this album, I loved every single bit of this video! You earned a new loyal fan, man, I enjoyed every second of this video and for sure looking forward into your content. Keep it up!
Lin, very kind of you to take the time to send this comment my way. It’s enormously appreciated. Great to have you here!
Your reaction to Obsidian is priceless 😂😂😂😂 (yeah, is freaking great) Nice video reacting and reviewing to the whole album
awesome reactions and analysis dude. subbed
Thanks so much!
I don't think people realise how genuinely impressive Northlane is at creating music.
They are all so musically talented and evolve even more every album.
Finally someone who doesn’t pause on every Two second 🙏🏻

Inamorata is beautiful
What an album. I'll be listening to that again- cheers 👍
My favourite song in obsidian album is dark solitaire
Thanks Steve! Enjoyed it :)
Nova reminds me a lot of Moby - Porcelain
Literally had to pause the album playthrough with my friend last night and ended up searching "eh eh eh whomah" on google to pleasantly find porcelain because Nova reminded me so much of this song I remembered hearing when I was like 10. Nice ear my friend.
Yeah Jonathon, the bassist and basically writer of most of these songs and creator of most of their synths specifically said moby was an influence on Nova.
omfg i thought i was the only one okay good i'm not crazy lmao
Agree, searching for this comment
The whole album is good, but Is This A Test has to be my favourite, it just goes hard
It's a cracker. Relentless beat in that one.
TRANCE-CORE AWESOME!
The title track is easily one of the best title tracks I've ever heard of
Xen is just wow
for me: Plenty > Dark Solitaire > Clarity > Nova > Cypher > Xen > Clockwork > Carbonized > Echo Chamber > Inamorata > Abomination > Obsidian > Is this a test? :)
I got big Savage Garden vibes from Nova 😅
Savage Garden! Jaysus, good pull haha. They had a couple cracking tunes they did.
Not savage garden but linkin park minutes to midnight album vibe 💯
Inamorata also got linkin park vibe 💯
I'm SO glad someone else heard Savage Garden when listening to Nova! I instantly put on ''I Knew I Loved You'' right after LMAO
Another UA-camr did a track by track review of this album and said the same thing about Nova! When he mentioned it, I had a "holy shit" moment because I haven't heard anyone mention that band since I was like 12 lol. Definitely big Savage Garden vibes and I'm cool with that ✌️
It's a viiiibeeee

The only thing I'm upset about is that Obsidian is too short 😅 God it's amazing!!!
It’s sooooo good still
Gorgeous album, bit of a grower however. Inamorata is unnecessary in my opinion, but Xen, Cypher, Is this a test? and Echo Chamber still hit super good when they come up!
Yeah, I have to agree that Inamorata is the weak link in the album. But others are just epic.
Nice profile pic!

@@SteveOGRock Haha, thanks! Worship as well brother!
For some reason I think dark solitaire belongs in a pokemon game...
is it weird I get some incubus vibes sometimes with this album?
Hey Steve. You need to react to Tim Foust from Home Free singing Will you still love me tomorrow/stay.
Please reaction alip ba ta again,, stil god the blues
Did clockwork just get missed?
