    Very interesting, I am glad this history is being shared. It should be kept in mind that British Colonialism did not take part in a vacuum but was part of ongoing 'wars' or power struggles between prominent european monarchies at the time. Those enslaved in Jamaica included indentured native british people as well and the work was all part of a war effort to protect Britain itself from being yet again conquered as it had been in antiquity. Those who served in the colonies were effectively working to protect these Islands from invasion by strengthening its strategic bearing and thereby supporting its people. They should have always had the free volition and dignity to do so according to their own will.
