At best, the opponent is back in neutral after making a mistake that should've gotten them chunked, at worst a zoner just got the distance he wanted. Nobody else had an issue where doing everything RIGHT undoes all their effort.
I wish there were players of all the other characters that went into such detail about the characters toolkits like you do with potemkin. Potemkin mains are quite lucky to have someone like you making these video resources on this channel

Having a TOD in the corner seems kinda pointless when you need to be winning the match HARD to actually get to that point. You win with the TOD 1 out of 15 games, but it's gotta be even less than that where you win with the TOD and the opponent is at high enough health that nothing else could have killed.
Having the TOD is (mostly) pointless but Potemkin’s damage and reward in the corner is genuinely good. Getting hit by buster gives him buster + a free combo extension just for being in the corner, and getting caught trying to jump buster let’s him do his famous 6K corner loops that build a lot of meter and do a lot of damage. His problems are basically just midscreen
I like to think xrd pot was a direct response to FAB's growing power. It was getting so ridiculous that he was starting to phase through the veil of real life and ggverse. They didn't want him to PB RC 2H HPB the entirety of the backyard so they kept him in check for a game life cycle.
I agree with Mine! You really should play older games, they're a LOT of fun. +r has rollback, an awesome matchmaking method with quick match, and it's probably the most consistent version of Potemkin. Xrd's delay based and there's no real matchmaking outside of finding lobbies, but it's fun despite that +r also goes for dirt cheap on sale, and it IS the steam summer sale right now :)

Strive Pot feels like he's drowning right now. They keep buffing things that doesn't need to be buffed while ignoring what needs fixing. If heat knuckle gave oki, 2p was 7 frames and Hammerfall Break wasn't 28 fucking frames he'd be a lot better. I don't really understand what they want Pot to do in Strive. He wants to get close but lacks the tools to get close and stay close. It's bizzare.

Since I play pot in strive I never really knew how he was before. So thanks for the insight of Potemkin history in Xrd. Even then this low key makes me sad and makes me wants to ask Just why? Why base him off of Reload and not AC/+R? This literally makes no sense to me and now Im worried that pot might be based off of his Xrd variant (hopefully Im wrong and just over thinking things) Regardless I appreciate the video and good job on it too I thoroughly enjoyed it thanks.
The whole game was based on Reload instead of AC+R, and every character had most of their AC-specific tools removed. And for what it's worth, the devs of Strive specifically said they didn't base the character reworks on any specific past incarnation, but rebuilt them from the ground up to fit Strive's mechanics and vibe
They based it off Reload because the devs felt the kits by the time of AC and +r were too bloated. So they went back to the route of the XX series and designed the characters from there, while still trying to keep the core tools.

You know what I, someone who has never played xrd, don't like about this potemkin? His stance. In strive, his stance is much wider, and is hunched over. In xrd, his head is much higher up on his massive shoulders, which has the effect of making him appear more upright, despite his lower pelvic area being further back. They also made said pelvic area a little wider as well, so now potemkin looks like a trapezoid with the small side on top of a a square in stead of a large upside down triangle
I'm still malding that ICPM and Trishula didn't make it into Strive - I loved those two specials to death. I'm also still addicted to using HFB is Strive out of habit I picked up in Xrd despite it being basically worthless as a neutral tool unless you have meter or just feel the need to cancel blocked 6H for some reason. I hope you do the same type of video for Strive Potemkin, because the current version of Pot in Strive is also the worst character in the game and watching the segment about patches ''buffing'' Potemkin sure feels very familiar - fixed none of his problems, just buffed damage on meter use.

I nearly a decade playing X and all of the XX games, always as pot. When I finally got a ps4 and Xrd Holy shit was I bummed out with everything pot lost, I still have nightmares about Raven.

Because *HIS LEGS DON’T WORK.* in a game where almost everyone gets an air dash being forced to use the slowest movement speed in the world should come with extreme upsides to counter the extreme downsides. Xrd Potemkin (and to a much lesser extent strive Potemkin) is built without this consideration. His incredible combo game and mix up potential was because Potemkin needed to make the most off getting in. It was your fault if you played into his game. Xrd lacks anything particularly amazing sans his Potemkin buster. Top tiers got insane stuff exclusive for them with basic movement. Potemkin didn’t really get anything exclusive to him.
Strive is the only game I play seriously, and im a pot main. I tried xrd but pot just feels visually so much lamer. Buster feels less satisfying, heavenly isn't as devastating, and no funny Garuda. I like him in +r though. Xrd just feels like a bad step for the character.

Hey i'm a +R noob & not a Pot main (HOS/Robo), so I gotta ask Why is Pot getting oki after Heat Knuckle WITHOUT Extend so important to him compared to doing the Extend? Like I get how it's useful, it's Oki on your jump read, but what's the problem with actually doing the Extend? Does Extend not give Oki either? Is the window to confirm Extend super short?
i´m new to guilty gear, plays +r potemkin and i adore using 2d vacuum into potemkin buster. The idea of 2d not being a vacuum or the fact that it didn't always had that property is uncanny af too me, i can't imagine pot without that T_T

Elphelt didn’t have much of a use for YRC until the literal last patch of the game and was still a top tier every version, and Sin has practically no way to use YRC outside of universal ones and is still a high/high-mid tier, meanwhile Answer has one of the best YRCs in the game but is extremely middling. All of this also completely forgets the fact that hammerfall YRC is an absolutely terrifying option that lets Pot force a mixup from half screen with YRC lol

Heat Knuckle oki is basically all he needs to jump to mid tier immediately. It's sad and one of the few things I prefer AC+ over Rev2 for.

Xrd lacks anything particularly amazing sans his Potemkin buster. Top tiers got insane stuff exclusive for them with basic movement. Potemkin didn’t really get anything exclusive to him.

Not here to really comment about the video content, but I appreciate the use of the Transistor soundtrack. Underrated game.
Strive is the only game I play seriously, and im a pot main. I tried xrd but pot just feels visually so much lamer. Buster feels less satisfying, heavenly isn't as devastating, and no funny Garuda. I like him in +r though. Xrd just feels like a bad step for the character.

Why is Pot getting oki after Heat Knuckle WITHOUT Extend so important to him compared to doing the Extend? Like I get how it's useful, it's Oki on your jump read, but what's the problem with actually doing the Extend?
Does Extend not give Oki either?
Is the window to confirm Extend super short?
Extend gives 0 oki because it launches them full screen. Exactly the opposite of what Pot wants.

i´m new to guilty gear, plays +r potemkin and i adore using 2d vacuum into potemkin buster. The idea of 2d not being a vacuum or the fact that it didn't always had that property is uncanny af too me, i can't imagine pot without that T_T
it certainly didn't help that pot got the least reward from yrc which is basically what decides who is good in xrd
No??? Elphelt didn’t have much of a use for YRC until the literal last patch of the game and was still a top tier every version, and Sin has practically no way to use YRC outside of universal ones and is still a high/high-mid tier, meanwhile Answer has one of the best YRCs in the game but is extremely middling. All of this also completely forgets the fact that hammerfall YRC is an absolutely terrifying option that lets Pot force a mixup from half screen with YRC lol
When you were talking about matchups that pot struggled with, I was thinking raven since one of his strength is his neutral.
I'd like to see a video similar to this one but with Xrd Rev 2 Zato, he is arguably comparable to Pot at being bad and inconsistent.

Now I'm curious about Slash Potemkin. He seems to have basically none of what made him good in Accent Core, but was ranked fairly high on most of the tier lists I was able to find.
