Very nice, Michiel! Didn't have a chance to watch it till now. I swear the background noise around the 7th to the 9th second sounds like Cantonese to me!
Steam tugs have usually condensing steam engines, the steam is recycled. You only need to burn coal when the pressure is low and the load is high. The high funnels create the draft needed for the coal fire to burn. In trains the exhaust steam is injected into the smoke chamber, so that there will be a good draft without a high funnel, that creates a big cloud of smoke and steam.
Most interesting,great shots.

That small Hercules tug kinda reminds me of sunshine from TUGS
thats funny, because Hercules from Tugs is based on Hercules
@@penguinmaster7 yeah, but I believe that is a different Hercules
Seems like a tooting good time.
Such a wonderful video, congrats! Are they all originally NL tugs?
And what did they say? Or was it something rude?
good afternoon nahcoda
Where is all the smoke from the funnels?
when operating efficiently, most steam powered vehicles don't actually produce all that much smoke
Looks like Hercules from Tugs came to the Regatta.
Oh, I see. Perhaps I was seeing them when really hot, and efficient.

"TUGS" in real life
Hercules: I am so scared, right now. Q_Q
Me: *Blows a kiss*
Hercules: Stop it, sweetheart.
