    To both a helpful video thanks. I am a Canadian looking at 4 season trailers and had not viewed the Bigfoot yet. Incidentally the upgraded custom fabric by the previous owners appears to be done in the spirit of a Dutch artist named Piet Mondrian from Amersfoort, Netherlands. I only happen to know this as I was in that country for business and happened to visit his museum. He was apparently a European pioneer of abstract art. Appreciate the time you took to make the video thank you.

    Hey Rob, congrats on the new rig and the new channel! If you remember my story, you know It's been a long time coming, but a year and a half latter, I finally purchased my first RV about a week ago. Its a 2021 Grand Design Imagine XLS 17MKE . It's prewired for solar and I want to add about 800+ watts and switch over to Lithium and a 12volt or residential fridge. Unfortunately, I don't know much about solar installation, I will definitely check out your new business. Let me know when! Thanks buddy!

    Congratulations on your new 25RQ! Beautiful Rig! We are now on our fourth Bigfoot because we love them so much. One thing I wanted to mention to you is you may want to get these spare parts for your toilet to have on hand because you may need them sometime. They are known for developing a leaking flush valve and the foot flush cable can break. Recommend not pushing the foot flush all the way to the floor. And of course, it never breaks at a good time. We have friend that change them once a year just as insurance. We've had our flush valve leak in our prior 2020 Bigfoot 10.4. Same toilet just shorter. These are the part numbers I ordered from Amazon just to have on hand just in case, you may want to consider doing the same. Not trying to scare you just giving you a heads up. Never hurts to have spare parts. Enjoy the Bigfoot and safe Travels! Thetford #34106, #34122, #34100

    My next camper/ trailer will be this trailer, good choice Rob perfect for couples. I currently have a Rockwood Mini Lite it’s a nice couples trailer also but would like just a little bigger. I pull it with a GMC Sierra 3500hd and don’t even know it’s behind me. Your next upgrade should be a 3/4 ton truck if you decide to do any mountain driving preferably a diesel.

    • @RobtheRVguy
      @RobtheRVguy  3 місяці тому

      Appreciate your input, most certainly. I may consider, at some point a GMC 3/4 ton. The issue I have is the pricing.
      We have just completed a 3000 mile trek across the Midwest, up and over the Teton Range, through the Idaho mountains, into the Montana Ranges and up and over Rainier. The Tundra pulled flawlessly, never lost speed at incline (I only pull at 55 mph), rarely needed to even downshift to 3rd, from 4th, and handled like a champ going down hill using downshifting to control descent. The highest my Transmission temp ever ascended was one time to 227 degrees on a very steep grade in the Tetons and as soon as we were over, dropped quickly back to 200 then to 190. Beyond that, it barely ever went north of 200 with a steady temp of 190 on flat ground.

    We are hoping to purchase a 2022 Bigfoot next week. We appreciate your videos on beefing up the suspension and plan to switch receiver to a bulldog which we’ve done on a utility trailer and our vintage airstream. AlaskanRam also updated their shock absorber hangers, which we will address as well. We might upgrade to 16” wheels so we can use light truck tires; definitely will eventually go with 12 volt fridge so at that time will have a marine company delete fridge vent and skylights on roof; that may be a year or two down the line. Plan to document everything for fiberglass forums. Inside we will upgrade sleeping and seating surfaces so look for those updates (I will do my own upholstery). And no more fabric window coverings! Bigfoot has gone to roller shades. We will probably go with wood 2” blinds to match cabinetry. Plan to build a built in garbage drawer and modify the nightstands to shorter.

      Yes, I agree. At some point, as a larger project, I may look at flipping the axles. That'd be a job I'd pay a trailer shop to handle. It'd be a bit outside my wheelhouse. But for the time being will remain cautious abd mindful of the terrain we traverse.

    Great review Rob, and after visiting the big RV show in Hershey PA, I just don't understand why Bigfoot doesn't have a bigger following! 99% of the trailers at the show were junk IMO, missing screws, gaps everywhere, misaligned hardware, broken this & that, simply horrific.
    I then traveled to Apex North Carolina, and looked at a Bigfoot just like yours, what a difference in quality, virtually flawless!
    I was hoping you could do me a favor, as I'm in the middle of ordering my trailer right now. Can you tell me the length of the shelf that holds your 4 AGM batteries, along with width & maximum height for a battery??? I believe that would make an ideal spot for twin Epoch 460 AH batteries, which would preserve a good amount of storage space.
    I'm 600 plus miles from a Bigfoot dealer, and can't seem to get an accurate answer from the dealers. I wish you were closer to the New England area, as I'm looking for a solar system install. Also, any does or don'ts when looking at Bigfoot options or special requests.
    Thanks in advance, and good luck with your new Bigfoot channel!!

    • @RobtheRVguy
      @RobtheRVguy  3 місяці тому

      Hey there. The space to which you refer is about 11" deep, 12" high (13 really, but I'm allowing the other inch) and 32" wide.
      I do not have AGM in mine. I have totally redone our set up and I have 2 Epoch 300AH in the back end. My entire Solar System power is in the back storage now. I have an upcoming video to showcase what I've done.
      I do not have any special suggestions per se. A lot will depend on how you plan to use the. As you know, we are full time so our needs will be different than most. Should you want to discuss more, please feel free to email me at rob@robthervguy.com

      @@RobtheRVguy Thanks Rob, I truly appreciate your timely response! I was about to send out my request for quotes for my new 25 foot twin Bigfoot yesterday, but then I received a updated options list and pricing from one of Bigfoots dealers in Canada. Bigfoot has changed options available, and they now include several TRUMA products, including the Truma Aventa AC, Truma Combi Comfort Plus, and the Truma Aqua Go!!! I was ordering a Truma AC with soft start anyways, so kind a glad to see it as a new option, but the TRUMA Combi Comfort Plus is completely foreign to me. Been searching the net for pro's & con's on this combination furnace & hot water heater, seems pretty popular over sea's, any words of advise or thoughts on this unit???? Thanks in advance Rob, and I just got done watching your solar upgrade, nicely done, and I'll leave a question or 5 (LOL) on that video, as I'm looking for a solar set up myself! Keep up the good work and thanks again for the measurements!! 👍👍👍👍

    • @RobtheRVguy
      @RobtheRVguy  3 місяці тому

      @@frogzilla9186 Happy to help! I would be a bit apprehensive of a unit that is a combined Water Heater/Furnace. Just having the two things combined seems like trouble if one or the other malfunctions.
      I had a Truma Aventa AC on our Winnebago. LOVED IT. Also had the AquaGo. Advice on that unit if it's installed. Make sure they install a water miser in your shower if you go with that. It takes a bit of water to get the hot water to the head, unlike a standard 6 gallon tank water heater. If you boondock at all, you will want that Water Miser on your shower using your hot water.
      One thing I do know about Bigfoot, in specific with Grant, it's owner. He is very careful whenever he decides to add or incorporate a new item in their builds. I trust him to make good decisions. He doesn't take the changes lightly and makes sure that whatever he does stands up to the Bigfoot name and reputation.

      I doubt it. I had a 2004 Sequoia with that drive train. I don't think I'd do it. I have a 2013 Tundra with the 5.7 V8. I've upgraded the rear suspension significantly and it handles this trailer beautifully. I would not pull anything bigger or heavier with my set up. I feel, for me, and my comfort, they are a great match. But again, I don't think I'd try it with the 4.7 engine/transmission combo...bullet proof as it is..

    I’ll never understand why people are investing in lithium in trailers that don’t have it instead of buying the portable lithium stations that already have the capacity and inverters on board. Plus it can be used when you aren’t using the trailer. Also, if you are too cheap to buy a generator then you don’t have a4 season trailer.

    • @RobtheRVguy
      @RobtheRVguy  13 годин тому

      1) capacity
      2) maximum output power ability
      Both are significantly lower with the portables.

    • @Steve-qn8gn
      @Steve-qn8gn 13 годин тому

      @ that’s definitely not true on both accounts. Do some research on them, there are flexible portables like Anker that can have capacity added to them as well as capable of putting out 3kw or more at 120/240v for less than $3500. The same system fixed in the trailer will cost much more than that, especially with installation.

    • @RobtheRVguy
      @RobtheRVguy  2 години тому

      @ The single F3800 box is large and weighs in at 130lbs or better if I read correctly. Not something that's easy for most to lug around. Cumbersome and large will make it difficult to store or find good mounting in a trailer. Adding to this with their expansions will only further increase the beasts size. I'm not sure I'd agree on the costs. 300ah heated 12v Epoch is running $800. Victron Multiplus 2 around $900. Solar charge controller for panels around $300. This combo set takes up 1/3 the space from what I can see. Installing a 48v will cost a bit less. To each their own however.
