Sheetal Devi: First Armless Archer Is Making India Proud At Asian Para Games 2023

SHEETAL DEVI, a 16-year-old archer from Loidhar village in Kishtwar, Jammu and Kashmir, is the “first female archer without arms to compete internationally”, according to World Archery, the sport's governing body. This week, she won three medals at the Asian Para Games in Hangzhou.

Proud of our daughter. She was born in difficulties in terrorism affected remote Mughal Maidan area of Kishtwar. When She was around 14 years old. Indian Army spotted her working and writing with her hands. She was then adopted by Indian Army and her talent was showcased in various forums. Indian Army then. approached Meghna Girish NGO for help. She with Anupam Kher helped Sheetal. Army arranged for Sheetal's visit to Bengaluru where Sheetal was tested by Preeti Rai of The Being You for Archery. Then Sheetal was trained by Kuldeep Baidwan as coach. Indian Army kept helping Sheetal and her family in remote mountains of Kishtwar. Mata Vaishno Devi has blessed Sheetal and kudos to the Shrine board sports complex at Katra who is training her with Abhilasha Chaudhary as coach. May Sheetal win Olympics Gold for India
