@Karn_EX I just thought of something for a potential future video for you. You know how Digimon require the “Light of Digivolution” (or a corrupt version) to evolve right? Then you have Pokémon’s equivalent to that being “Infinity Energy”. So what would happen if those energy’s were switched? You could use Gammamon & Eevee for the vid. (Though I am kinda curious what would happen to the Porygon line if it switched energies).
I just wanted to say lucimon Satan mode actually fits because in the Bible Satan is called the dragon so that probably were it gets this designs inspiration.
Lucemon: Satan mode being a reference to the biblical dragon of Revelation is I think incredibly fitting and incredibly over-the-top and it's perfectly digimon
I'm fine with the reference, the form does not actually evoke that reference hardcore enough for me though, I wish it committed harder to the red and multiple heads described as the Satan Dragon or whatever. I'm actually looking for MORE over-the-top haha
@@Karn_EX I don't know, I like how they differentiate it from the original description. It's mainly purple color scheme is still menacing, it has multiple wings that look cool and have the symbols of the demon lords looming over them, and it's gold plated claws and visor look pretty sick. It would've been kinda boring if they just went with a goat design again or a too similar description of the original text.
You know, this list has made me realize how freaking weird Mode Changes are. The range of what qualifies as a Mode Change is so broad. It can be a Power Up, a sealed form, a new Weapon, a basic color swap, or even what is essentially a Digivolution (But we'll still call it a "Mode Change" for some reason).
I’d love to see a top ten list based on which yu-gi-oh monsters would make for the best digimon, based on their design. Yu-gi-oh has so many awesome monster designs! Awesome video as always Karn!
Junomon Hysteric Mode’s pose in the image Karn uses kind of makes her look like a uterus and ovaries. Which I guess makes sense in a way because the root word for “hysteria” is the Greek “hystera” meaning “uterus” Edited due to an autocorrect fail
I've said before. I love merciful Mode's design as a standalone thing but with the lore in mind I do wish the other partners were more present in the design
I appreciated Merciful Mode a lot more after a Kenji Watanabe interview and the official art showed his wingd were supposed to be more like a long ass cape and the blue lights under his eyes are inspired by Shotaro Ishinomori tokusatsu heroes who have those lines under their eyes because they're tears to represent being a tragic character. Not my favourite Mode Change or Omegamon though but yeah.
Mercyful mode feels so weird in context Even it's name implies mercy, but it is used to totally kill a digimon that was as much a victim os circumstance as it was a friend to the chosen kids When it appeared, it felt like the whole movie forgot itself and made up an alternative reality where the ending we got made sense Tri got really hurt by all the behind the scenes stuff that happened
I have seen Agumon Burst always as more like Masaru and Agumon get enveloped in Masarus Aura, not really a real Mode Change. Fanglongmon I totally agree on, this has absolutely no final boss vibes with it just changing colour instead of making it more demonic and fallen looking.
Oddly, I like Fanglongmon Ruin Mode. It does color change, but there are minor tweeks that I think fill it out well: the back spikes twisting and fanning out to form psuedo wings, the wide antlers, the red digicore orbs being replaced with blue will o whisp fire balls, even just stretching out Fanglongmon's strangely stubby looking face and neck in some shots. To me it changes just enough.
Merciful mode should have just been Omnimon Weiss to counterpart Shwarz. In that context I think the design would work better. But I agree that as the culmination of the adventure children's power it lacks a bit.
Duftmon Leopard Mode just needed one line, a few words even, in its reference book to make it work better in my opinion, basically if it were faster in the mode change (possibly the fastest royal knight when it was) it would have worked better. It's always been my headcanon that it's faster in that form since I just don't get why it'd mode change otherwise, it doesn't gain anything by going quadrupedal and instead actually loses its sword, so it feels more like it should be the "default" version and the actual Duftmon should be "Knight Mode"
It says so in the main Duftmon entry - "When it goes into personal combat it changes into "Leopard Mode" and races across the battlefield." It's not explicitly the fastest (Cyber Sleuth puts Sleipmon or UlforceVeedramon as fastest), but it's presumably up there (possibly 3rd?)
Merciful Mode could be so much more if it actually incorporated more of all the digimon that make it up, hell all Merciful Mode needs is the ability to change it's weapons to different partner's weapons so you can see the digimon who make it up, but what I would have done was give it the ability to change it's appearance to different appearances based on the eight partners that make it up to set it apart from the other Omnimon forms.
I’m going to go with Magnagarurumon SV mode. I like the concept of him getting a highspeed mode, but it’s really just Magnagarurumon taking his armor off. Like, if Gabumon took his fur coat off would that count as a mode change? And then there is Deckerdramon float mode. It’s just Deckerdramon opening it’s back and floating in water. That’s it.
I would love to see what your own version of Merciful Mode would look like. I can't remember if you've done your Omnimon-esque DNA Digivolutions for the other Digidestined but yeah. Video idea. But also we need more Burst Modes.
Working on an Omnimon custom art video atm! I have a sort of idea of how I'd do Merciful Mode but it's making something I feel matches up in my head haha Definitely would love to see the rest of Savers get Burst Modes at least!

@Karn EX That arm swapping thing is something I thought of too for full omnimon, Melee weapons for seraphimon rosemon and vikemon, and ranged for ophanimon/magnadramon, Hercules kabutarimon and pheonixmon. the symbol on the chest with all the crests on it and the unused arms circling behind the head like susanomon's ring
Not exactly a Mode Change, but here is the official statement regarding ShineGreymon's "GeoGrey Sword" power-up, straight from the wiki: *"GeoGrey Sword: Summons the "GeoGrey Sword" from the underground to attack, though it must first be released by Marcus's DNA with the Digivice Burst. The sword first appears while ShineGreymon is battling BioDarkdramon in the city, in response to Marcus and ShineGreymon's need to fight without causing collateral damage. I had a Idea about a Mode Change for a Digimon. Rosemon Whittered Mode. It happens when she loves someone and her Love gets betrayed. Then her beautiful Appearance will turn brown and Cracks and Fissures will start appearing. It will destroy her Trust in others and she thinks she isnt beautiful anymore because of the Betrayal what results in her Body whittering. I think something like that is unique. Its a Twist or Turn on for what she stands and i think that could be done for other Digimon who resemble another kind of Symbolism. There are good Mode changes but sometimes i think they are not really that great. Instead i either would like a new Evolution or something else.

Yeaaah... Have to agree with this list mostly. Expect Junomon. I kinda like how in Hysteric Mode she uses those javelin-like ornaments of her cloak as weapon and forms that golden helmet as she goes absolutely bat-shit crazy. Then again, I'm sucker for Olympos Twelve. Though I am surprised list did not have Bacchusmon Crapulence Mode... Where Bacchusmon just gets some pink glowing marks on its body. (Though it usually just signs that Bacchusmon is "About to Fire his Lazor", Reversal of the Dead.)

Paralyze, Sleep & Poison). Then again it could be Royal Knight situation with 2 attacks... Doubt he gets Cook of Hell where he turns enemy into food, though.

I never cared about agumon burst mode but I've always felt bad that Rosemon and Ravemon don't change that much, I wish they kept some space theme for them too
yeah, I can agree with all of these. None of them are bad, but none of them are truly great. It's like taking a group of 9/10 and 10/10 designs, and having some 7 or 8/10. Still good, but just disappointing comparatively.
I think they could make Omnimon with all the megas heads like shoulder pads or knee caps. Or at least the Crests and not just blue lights but all of their colors (I'm thinking something like Kamen Rider Build Genius form lines for example)

Satan's been referred to as "a dragon" before. He's been described alot of ways honestly...it's a wonder anyone can keep him straight. Persona just said 'screw it' and made each different name a different thing.
Now you bring fanglongmon suddenly cherubimon (good) and (evil) come to mind. I knew lore wise digimon can turn to different digimon on same stage due to fallen/corrupted like devimon/angemon or exposed to certain condition like veggiemon turn into red veggiemon when ripe or nanimon into bomber nanimon when expised to many fights. So i thought it might be a good topic to discuss considering a lot of ppl missed that and thought digimon can only evolve progressively into next stage.
Worst part about Gaiomon Itto mode is the artist who originally drew Gaiomon drew a Gaiomon X Burst Mode and it looks a lot better than Gaiomon Itto Mode. A lot less messy and it looks more like a power up than a one sworded variant.
The reason why satan mode looks like that is because it refences the dragon of revelation which is why i think it's fine Though i agree that i want a more cooler dragon design to reflect that
Watching this, the Agumon one specifically, put the comparison to Power Rangers Forever Red, where the unstoppable giant Serpentaris was defeated.... by a motorcycle. Their strongest robots couldn't do win, but.... Thank you? Curse you? I'm not sure which yet.
Disney had bought Power Rangers at that point and they(the writers/directors) were forced to promote the new toy. The original plan was to have a lot of Megazords working together to take it down, but Disney was like "What? Why would we promote old toys?"
@@Oturan20 Linkara's videos said that Disney just refused to pay for it, right after the expensive Time Force crossover. They had to go get Bandai to pay for the episode, the THEY didn't want to advertise old toys.

Wow these mode changes are pretty awful. I mean wow, most are either just recolor with no cool world building or just something really lazy and I am very disappointed. But still an entertaining video and a fun surprise birthday gift! Great job Karn!
To be honest ruin mode for fanglongmon should have given him actual wings and a crackling energy aura at the very least if they wanted to keep the main base design give him energy add-ons. after all that's what ruin mode is in most cases it's basically only a slight design change with a lot of energy add-ons.
I actually thought your number 1 would be Rosemon: Burst mode. Unlike Shinergreymon: Burst mode and Miragegaogamon: Burst mode, her only design change are the color. But i'm glad you did not put her in the video. However!!!! Lucemon Satan mode??? Come on, he's looking cool. At least he ain't a ugly looking red skined satan you wish to see. He looks awesome. a certain Luminamon and Shademon Xros that can be seen as a mode change I wish never existed because the mere thought of somebody outside of our franchise coming across them and thinking that's what Digimon fans are into embarrasses me
I've suggested this in the comments of a few previous videos, and Karn might have fun with this; taking Zoid Pilots/Warriors and giving them Digimon partners.
Merciful mode is worst imo It's the worst looking Omnimon and is just extremely wasted potential as a concept Could have at least made it gold with rainbow tron lines, like it doesn't even have the other crest on it only courage and friendship At least Fanglongmon Ruin mode is just underwhelming rather than making the base design worse
Alteros mode: Let's give this CYBORG DINOSAUR an arm that's a cannon to pair with his other, also robotic, arm Saggitarius mode: Ok so, see these metal plates? Just put those on his back and call it a day
idk if this one counts but I don't like Agumon bonds of courage and Gabumon bonds of friendship. There's just so much build up for the least fitting deigns possible they look more like Aguinmon and Wolfmon evolutions they just stick out too much for my liking.
Agumon burst mode is the only one I disagree with Only because I love how silly data squad is and the obsurdity of the scenarios in the show. One of my favorite mode changes purl6 on how crazy and funny it is

Omegamon mercifullmode with all the crest embebed in ot's body will be the correct answer, even if it stay white but the crasts in diferent pparts of its body to show what every crest add to omegampn
Omnimon Merciful Mode Take the Omnimon main body… Keep the MetalGarurumon Cannon Arm Underneath that have a Hercules Kabuterimon Shield Arm so together they can do a defensive shield with the cannon perched above & still shoot at enemies Then you have the Wargreymon Sword Arm & underneath that the Vikemon Arm with the Mace to be the more offensive side Then Rosemon’s Whip is around the entire body creating a spikey armor effect when attacked the enemy is hurt & the wings of Seraphimon, Hououmon, & Magnadramon to make it the fastest flying Digimon ever. Also Karn if you’re ever gonna make a video of fixing mode changes, you can totally steal this idea.

To be fair to Satan Mode, IIRC the Dragon of Revelations has been associated with Satan. SMT even had one of their takes on Satan be based around the Dragon of Revelations back in SMTIV: A. That said, that still doesn't save it of any design problems that you had with it, and even with personal bias in mind I do understand why you would've preferred something else for it.
I'm actually gonna defend a tad Fanglongmon Ruin Mode, it's basically Shinegreymon Ruin Mode, it isn't quite a 'mode', even though it's a mode change, it's rather Black -mon in terms of design, it's like B. Wargreymon would be called Wargreymon Ruin Mode because it's uses the bad emotions from people for it's version of the gaia force, tbh I find it surprising they didn't just "black" Fanglongmon and call it 'Ruin mode' like they did to ShineGreymon
I can't ahree, I love Sagittarius mode wayyyyy more than Alteros mode. I love how it helps the transition to MetalGarurumon and takes the X antibody inspo and I just think it looks soooo sleek. It's just a personal taste thing lol. The only other one I disagree with is the number 1 spot. Idk, I'm basic I like the color palette and the simple but neat changes. It definitely could've been better, you're not wrong at all. Still, great list as always. Even if I dont always agree, your videos are always a fun watch and your effort shows! Love the life you bring to the fandom.
Got a suggestion that would be interesting not sure if you’ve done it yet but you know how Gallantmon/Dukemon has his evil half what if the other knights had evil halves
I think the MetalGreymon and WereGarurumon mode changes are just lackluster. Especially when their alternate megas are so wicked. I almost wish the mode changes for the ultimates were based on the alternate megas instead of the evil digivolution and the regular mega respectively. MetalGreymon with BlitzGreymon's gun(s) or wing guns, but silver/digichrome, and WereGarurumon with CresGarurumon's spear and cape would have looked way better, in my opinion. Plus they'd still fit with the combat role of the ultimate, since MetalGreymon is mid to long range but needs a more well rounded option, given his claw and missiles have a rearming period, and WereGarurumon is close range and the spear would give him that little extra range alongside Kaiser Nail, which he could channel through the spear for even more range and power.
Number 7 gave me thought an idea what if we got digimon with 2 x antibodies natural carriers x and double xx digimon what if although lore wise that would mean Yggdrasil would have to make another purge virus
I usually am not a fan of the "less is more" mantra nor the "overdesigned" critique, but Satan Mode makes sense when it is literally just the shadow of Lucemon completely corrupted, not like a jogress or something. Itto Mode is the X-Antibody of an X-Antibody, so it makes sense be so pointy. *Ruin Mode does look like more than just a recolor, with more blade-like horns and whatnot, though.* It might not make sense to look that different when "This being is good but *also evil,* and is called the 'Taiji' of light and *darkness."* Of course, we did already have a seriously different form with the Master.
There's a conflict between people's opinions I think. Just cause something has a sensical basis doesn't make it a design someone likes. If anything the Master makes Ruin Mode even less interesting to me, I'd have preferred if Ruin Mode was similar to the Plutomon/Voltboutmon Master modes

But it is objectively more than just a recolor, so there is more than just opinion with it and "just a recolor" _would not_ be a valid criticism. Wait, a fusion between Ruin Mode and... itself, Master? Pretty sure the idea was supposed to be "holy Homeostasis, it's HANGLONGMON!" Not to mention that it is just a Ruin Mode, which has not been suggested as being that different by ShineGreymon's. I know Dark Digivolutions can be quite different, like Skull Greymon, but that was for the Master while Ruin Mode was after "Haruchika was ejected which caused Master to slide evolve into Huanglongmon: Ruin Mode." Probably also something about regaining lost power. Admittedly, bit odd how it is Satan Mode Purple though, for Lucemon was referenced in its bio. *Anyway, I have to argue the opposite with Master ruining the idea of Ruin Mode looking too different **_because_** of Master **_already being so different_** itself. Would not have the contrast between the forms then. Honestly, I could only see a sort of in-between form **_leading_** into Ruin Mode making sense, still having Ruin Mode as the biggest, baddest form.* Would be helpful if wikimon had a bio for it to give context on how it works _beyond the game's plot_ ngl. *Could be adapted as just a form it naturally changes between for convenience to do a job instead of a power up due to it already being so powerful, like Duftmon's Leopard Mode, in which case showing that corruption **_from a human's malice_** would just not work.* Note: I know you disliked Leopard Mode, but that does not argue my point on it potentially being just a form for punishing. Not joking about the inconvenience in the lack of a bio btw. Besides, making sense not meaning you have to like it does really work as a defense for criticism, for while you can still dislike it for looking "too similar" (ignoring how different it is), it just does not work for criticism. Reminds me of whenever EWW Cinemasins corrects the video it was in response to. Siddenote: Just realized Satan Mode ironically seems to have a mask like most angelic Digimon.
Betsumon is best digimon, don't argue with me. No joke, he is one of my favorite digimon as he kinda encapsulates why I like Digimon designs. Also I always prefered Imp Dragon Mode over Fighter Mode.
you'd a thought the biker looking werewolf with a sagitarius mode, which inspires half one half another thing, that a half werewolf/motorbike was about to appear. But no. we got mecha wolf.
Considering Survive is partially a strategy rpg, on the switch, I have to wonder if Huanglongmon Ruin Mode is inspired by something like the dragon final bosses from the Fire Emblem games, which are also strategy rpgs. It looks incredibly similar to the Shadow Dragon Medeus and the Demon Dragon Idunn. Though not quite as cool.
I feel like those Burst Modes which are just auras around the Digimon shouldn't be their own modes but instead be something any Digimon can achieve by surpassing the power fo their current level. Like they're tapping into their potential Digivolutions or tapping into a greater power they shouldn't be able to yet.
can't say I agree on Duftmon & Junomon. Junomon basically goes into armored battle mode. imo we're one good card artwork and game appearance away from seeing really work.
I wish it looked more like a battle mode, definitely could be an art thing but she just does not look even remotely intimidating to me. Again tho, it's a top 10 of designs I really don't hate just if I'm forced to pick 10 I don't love they'd be on there
While I'm not a big fan of negative vids like these, apparently other folks like them. I still enjoy the work and insight you put into it. Also, I kinda prefer leopard mode.

Everytime i look at omnimon merciful mode all i think of is that its just omnimon + angemon and Angewomon, aka the tai and matt family fusion.

I have seen Agumon Burst always as more like Masaru and Agumon get enveloped in Masarus Aura, not really a real Mode Change.
Fanglongmon I totally agree on, this has absolutely no final boss vibes with it just changing colour instead of making it more demonic and fallen looking.
Oddly, I like Fanglongmon Ruin Mode. It does color change, but there are minor tweeks that I think fill it out well: the back spikes twisting and fanning out to form psuedo wings, the wide antlers, the red digicore orbs being replaced with blue will o whisp fire balls, even just stretching out Fanglongmon's strangely stubby looking face and neck in some shots. To me it changes just enough.
Merciful mode should have just been Omnimon Weiss to counterpart Shwarz. In that context I think the design would work better. But I agree that as the culmination of the adventure children's power it lacks a bit.
I mean, the regular omnimon is already the counterpart to zwert. I could get behind MM being a counterpart to Zwert D though.
Duftmon Leopard Mode just needed one line, a few words even, in its reference book to make it work better in my opinion, basically if it were faster in the mode change (possibly the fastest royal knight when it was) it would have worked better. It's always been my headcanon that it's faster in that form since I just don't get why it'd mode change otherwise, it doesn't gain anything by going quadrupedal and instead actually loses its sword, so it feels more like it should be the "default" version and the actual Duftmon should be "Knight Mode"

It says so in the main Duftmon entry - "When it goes into personal combat it changes into "Leopard Mode" and races across the battlefield." It's not explicitly the fastest (Cyber Sleuth puts Sleipmon or UlforceVeedramon as fastest), but it's presumably up there (possibly 3rd?)
Merciful Mode could be so much more if it actually incorporated more of all the digimon that make it up, hell all Merciful Mode needs is the ability to change it's weapons to different partner's weapons so you can see the digimon who make it up, but what I would have done was give it the ability to change it's appearance to different appearances based on the eight partners that make it up to set it apart from the other Omnimon forms.
Make it a Voltron. Have Rosemond as one foot, Phoenixmon as the other, then give it HerculesKabuterimon's carapace and Vikemons morning stars.
I’m going to go with Magnagarurumon SV mode. I like the concept of him getting a highspeed mode, but it’s really just Magnagarurumon taking his armor off. Like, if Gabumon took his fur coat off would that count as a mode change?
And then there is Deckerdramon float mode. It’s just Deckerdramon opening it’s back and floating in water. That’s it.
I would love to see what your own version of Merciful Mode would look like. I can't remember if you've done your Omnimon-esque DNA Digivolutions for the other Digidestined but yeah. Video idea. But also we need more Burst Modes.

I had a Idea about a Mode Change for a Digimon. Rosemon Whittered Mode. It happens when she loves someone and her Love gets betrayed. Then her beautiful Appearance will turn brown and Cracks and Fissures will start appearing. It will destroy her Trust in others and she thinks she isnt beautiful anymore because of the Betrayal what results in her Body whittering. I think something like that is unique. Its a Twist or Turn on for what she stands and i think that could be done for other Digimon who resemble another kind of Symbolism. There are good Mode changes but sometimes i think they are not really that great. Instead i either would like a new Evolution or something else.

Though I am surprised list did not have Bacchusmon Crapulence Mode... Where Bacchusmon just gets some pink glowing marks on its body. (Though it usually just signs that Bacchusmon is "About to Fire his Lazor", Reversal of the Dead.)

I never cared about agumon burst mode but I've always felt bad that Rosemon and Ravemon don't change that much, I wish they kept some space theme for them too
yeah, I can agree with all of these. None of them are bad, but none of them are truly great. It's like taking a group of 9/10 and 10/10 designs, and having some 7 or 8/10. Still good, but just disappointing comparatively.
I think they could make Omnimon with all the megas heads like shoulder pads or knee caps. Or at least the Crests and not just blue lights but all of their colors (I'm thinking something like Kamen Rider Build Genius form lines for example)

Now you bring fanglongmon suddenly cherubimon (good) and (evil) come to mind. I knew lore wise digimon can turn to different digimon on same stage due to fallen/corrupted like devimon/angemon or exposed to certain condition like veggiemon turn into red veggiemon when ripe or nanimon into bomber nanimon when expised to many fights. So i thought it might be a good topic to discuss considering a lot of ppl missed that and thought digimon can only evolve progressively into next stage.
Worst part about Gaiomon Itto mode is the artist who originally drew Gaiomon drew a Gaiomon X Burst Mode and it looks a lot better than Gaiomon Itto Mode. A lot less messy and it looks more like a power up than a one sworded variant.

The reason why satan mode looks like that is because it refences the dragon of revelation which is why i think it's fine

Watching this, the Agumon one specifically, put the comparison to Power Rangers Forever Red, where the unstoppable giant Serpentaris was defeated.... by a motorcycle. Their strongest robots couldn't do win, but.... Thank you? Curse you? I'm not sure which yet.
Disney had bought Power Rangers at that point and they(the writers/directors) were forced to promote the new toy. The original plan was to have a lot of Megazords working together to take it down, but Disney was like "What? Why would we promote old toys?"

To be honest ruin mode for fanglongmon should have given him actual wings and a crackling energy aura at the very least if they wanted to keep the main base design give him energy add-ons. after all that's what ruin mode is in most cases it's basically only a slight design change with a lot of energy add-ons.

idk if this one counts but I don't like Agumon bonds of courage and Gabumon bonds of friendship. There's just so much build up for the least fitting deigns possible they look more like Aguinmon and Wolfmon evolutions they just stick out too much for my liking.

Take the Omnimon main body…
Keep the MetalGarurumon Cannon Arm
Underneath that have a Hercules Kabuterimon Shield Arm so together they can do a defensive shield with the cannon perched above & still shoot at enemies
Then you have the Wargreymon Sword Arm & underneath that the Vikemon Arm with the Mace to be the more offensive side
Then Rosemon’s Whip is around the entire body creating a spikey armor effect when attacked the enemy is hurt & the wings of Seraphimon, Hououmon, & Magnadramon to make it the fastest flying Digimon ever.
Also Karn if you’re ever gonna make a video of fixing mode changes, you can totally steal this idea.

To be fair to Satan Mode, IIRC the Dragon of Revelations has been associated with Satan. SMT even had one of their takes on Satan be based around the Dragon of Revelations back in SMTIV: A. That said, that still doesn't save it of any design problems that you had with it, and even with personal bias in mind I do understand why you would've preferred something else for it.
My head canon is that there is a true non-fusion Omnimon who leads the Royal Knights who is a Level 6 Mega like Alphamon with normal arms.

I'm actually gonna defend a tad Fanglongmon Ruin Mode, it's basically Shinegreymon Ruin Mode, it isn't quite a 'mode', even though it's a mode change, it's rather Black -mon in terms of design, it's like B. Wargreymon would be called Wargreymon Ruin Mode because it's uses the bad emotions from people for it's version of the gaia force, tbh I find it surprising they didn't just "black" Fanglongmon and call it 'Ruin mode' like they did to ShineGreymon
I can't ahree, I love Sagittarius mode wayyyyy more than Alteros mode. I love how it helps the transition to MetalGarurumon and takes the X antibody inspo and I just think it looks soooo sleek. It's just a personal taste thing lol.
The only other one I disagree with is the number 1 spot. Idk, I'm basic I like the color palette and the simple but neat changes. It definitely could've been better, you're not wrong at all.

Got a suggestion that would be interesting not sure if you’ve done it yet but you know how Gallantmon/Dukemon has his evil half what if the other knights had evil halves
I think the MetalGreymon and WereGarurumon mode changes are just lackluster. Especially when their alternate megas are so wicked. I almost wish the mode changes for the ultimates were based on the alternate megas instead of the evil digivolution and the regular mega respectively. MetalGreymon with BlitzGreymon's gun(s) or wing guns, but silver/digichrome, and WereGarurumon with CresGarurumon's spear and cape would have looked way better, in my opinion. Plus they'd still fit with the combat role of the ultimate, since MetalGreymon is mid to long range but needs a more well rounded option, given his claw and missiles have a rearming period, and WereGarurumon is close range and the spear would give him that little extra range alongside Kaiser Nail, which he could channel through the spear for even more range and power.
Number 7 gave me thought an idea what if we got digimon with 2 x antibodies natural carriers x and double xx digimon what if although lore wise that would mean Yggdrasil would have to make another purge virus
I usually am not a fan of the "less is more" mantra nor the "overdesigned" critique, but Satan Mode makes sense when it is literally just the shadow of Lucemon completely corrupted, not like a jogress or something.
Itto Mode is the X-Antibody of an X-Antibody, so it makes sense be so pointy.
*Ruin Mode does look like more than just a recolor, with more blade-like horns and whatnot, though.* It might not make sense to look that different when "This being is good but *also evil,* and is called the 'Taiji' of light and *darkness."* Of course, we did already have a seriously different form with the Master.
There's a conflict between people's opinions I think. Just cause something has a sensical basis doesn't make it a design someone likes.
If anything the Master makes Ruin Mode even less interesting to me, I'd have preferred if Ruin Mode was similar to the Plutomon/Voltboutmon Master modes

Wait, a fusion between Ruin Mode and... itself, Master? Pretty sure the idea was supposed to be "holy Homeostasis, it's HANGLONGMON!"
Not to mention that it is just a Ruin Mode, which has not been suggested as being that different by ShineGreymon's. I know Dark Digivolutions can be quite different, like Skull Greymon, but that was for the Master while Ruin Mode was after "Haruchika was ejected which caused Master to slide evolve into Huanglongmon: Ruin Mode." Probably also something about regaining lost power. Admittedly, bit odd how it is Satan Mode Purple though, for Lucemon was referenced in its bio.
*Anyway, I have to argue the opposite with Master ruining the idea of Ruin Mode looking too different **_because_** of Master **_already being so different_** itself. Would not have the contrast between the forms then. Honestly, I could only see a sort of in-between form **_leading_** into Ruin Mode making sense, still having Ruin Mode as the biggest, baddest form.* Would be helpful if wikimon had a bio for it to give context on how it works _beyond the game's plot_ ngl. *Could be adapted as just a form it naturally changes between for convenience to do a job instead of a power up due to it already being so powerful, like Duftmon's Leopard Mode, in which case showing that corruption **_from a human's malice_** would just not work.*
Note: I know you disliked Leopard Mode, but that does not argue my point on it potentially being just a form for punishing. Not joking about the inconvenience in the lack of a bio btw.
Besides, making sense not meaning you have to like it does really work as a defense for criticism, for while you can still dislike it for looking "too similar" (ignoring how different it is), it just does not work for criticism. Reminds me of whenever EWW Cinemasins corrects the video it was in response to.

Considering Survive is partially a strategy rpg, on the switch, I have to wonder if Huanglongmon Ruin Mode is inspired by something like the dragon final bosses from the Fire Emblem games, which are also strategy rpgs. It looks incredibly similar to the Shadow Dragon Medeus and the Demon Dragon Idunn. Though not quite as cool.
I feel like those Burst Modes which are just auras around the Digimon shouldn't be their own modes but instead be something any Digimon can achieve by surpassing the power fo their current level. Like they're tapping into their potential Digivolutions or tapping into a greater power they shouldn't be able to yet.
Speaking of mode changes, my favourite one is Karn Blonde Mode! Remember that one?
