This is how I did a section to hang a shell I had beaded. Was beading on an airplane and doing it by memory, wrong. But I didn't know it was wrong and I loved it also!
I did this with junk beads. I used misshapen size six for the center, one eleven, one light pink bugle,2 eleven and one metallic pink bugle and one more eleven. I find that cheap bugles tend to cut whatever thread you may use, hence the elevens in between.I made it long enough to make it a continuous rope. It looks very pretty and it used up so many terribly made beads. LOL Thank your mother for her lovely pattern please. I love it!
Thanks for the beautiful pattern and superb tutorial. I enjoyed making this so much that I had a hard time putting it down. I had 9mm bugles so used them and they worked wonderfully. I made the entire bracelet out of gold bugles and gold galvanized seeds. It looks like an expensive gold jewelry piece.
Very pretty. Thanks to Team Wiseman for sharing it. I'm that person with loads of bugles and no idea on what to do with them. I can feel lots of colour combos flying off my beading tray. Great job ladies. xx
thank u so much for using bugles they r one of my fav u r the person who taught me how to begin beading i would just like to say thank u and i appreciate all the videos u give us
A suggestion: when you have a clasp that the seed beads can pass through, use an odd number of beads. That way, the middle bead will sit in the hole and help prevent the edge of the hole in the clasp from rubbing on the thread and possibly damaging the thread (I do this all the time).
Just a thought on adding the round section of the clasp. If you want to tie knots and then go directly back up without going around I would say to go down five+ beads then knot follow by going down 4 beads then knot then 2 beads and knot to Finnish knots won't block holes
Reminds me of a celebration like Christmas or New Years. Perfect timing! I just finished making my first spiral rope bracelet. This will definitely be on my " to do" list. Thank you for your awesome tutorials!!!
I love this bracelet! It builds up fairly quickly and is a great project to sit on a tray as you're watching movies over 2-3 week nights : ) I've done a few necklaces in various color combos for different outfits now, but I like a wider bracelet so I've made my bracelets in same color combos to match but in very different designs by doing wide sections of herringbone weave using the seed beads, and then equal sections of herringbone with the bugles. Or you could do it all in bugles if you do put a seed bead between every one ( I always add a seed bead between each bugle as I work it up so that the bugles can't cut my thread!! In fact, I call bugles 'thread-cutters'...!!! ) I hope this idea appeals to others who are looking for other ways to use up their bugle beads : ) Happy beading!!
Very cool! As you were making it I started thinking, wouldn't one "Shell make a cool earring, perhaps with a little bicone on each end, maybe the bottom one could dangle....( sorry I might not be describing this right). At any rate this is a gorgeous pattern THANKS
couple of tips #1 This gorgeous bracelet is a thread eater, I had to add thread twice & it totaled up to over10ft of thread. #2 Watch your tension, (don't pull too tight) or you won't be able to get your needle into the spine. Otherwise, I love it! It wears very nicely and sparkles like crazy!
My dearest Jill. I am very new to beading. Actually 2 months. I am very crafty as a hair stylist , fashion designer dress maker interior designer all by trade. Beading however has become an obsession. You have kept me up until 4 am, made me late for appointments, had me ignore my husband and so on. I have to say you are amazing and I love you. Your twosies and threesies make me giggle and are very welcome at this hour. So here is a request, not like I have the right to request anything from you this early in the game but wherever I go I buy vintage beads. (Old necklaces etc) I have the finished visual in my mind but I have now idea how to make my visual into reality. But you do! It is frustrating to me because with everything else it comes to life except with beads. Help please!
Hi Jill, I just watched this and I love it. I am gonna make a couple of bracelets. they're gonna make great christmas presents. Thanks so much and keep the good tutorials coming.
buenas tarde no hablo ingles pero e aprendido con el paso a paso gracias te admiro mucho todo lo que haces es espectacular marina desde Caracas VENEZUELA
generally it takes at least three times for humans to get something in their head...and five times to actually comprehend it. :) Or so I have been told. :) Love the design! :)
What size thread/fireline do you recommend using for this project? I find bugle beads tend to wear down & rip through thread really fast & it's so frustrating. I've tried some pretty strong fireline & even that broke. I even reinforced the piece several times. Is my tension too strong maybe? Is there a specific thread that plays well with bugle beads? Sorry for all the questions. I have so many lovely bugle beeds I'd love to play with & they sadly are sitting in a drawer. Thanks Jill!
Hi Jill, thank you for this wonderful tutorial. I am working on mine now but am having a lot of trouble. For some reason when I go back through my spine beads am having trouble passing thru them. I just can't seem to get my needle in.. I am using a size 12. Also is there a way to attach the ends without a toggle clasp and turn it into a bangle
Hi Jill Such a wonderful design, but it is driving me crazy. In the video, it sounds like for every spine bead, there is a loop with a bugle , 5 11s and and a seed bead, but the second loop has a spine bead. Is that right? Barb
Love this! If one had a plethora of #2 Czech bugles, would you recommend the same number of 11s? I cant even remember why I bought all of the #2s but I have a ton. Just wondering! Thanks again, Jill, for everything.
this is a beautiful project, but I really wanted to see how those beginning loops filled in. You said you would work longer so we could see the process. Then you worked off camera 'so we wouldn't have to watch you. The watching was what I wanted.
Desery Watson - Are you sure you are pushing each beaded loop (5 - 11s + the bugle) to the same side (left or right) every time you do the loop? That, along with the proper size seed beads and bugles, and pretty decent tension, are what makes the shell effect.

Jill, I add another 11/0 to the end of the bugle bead, this stops the thread from being cut,. Works well
Very pretty. Thanks to Team Wiseman for sharing it. I'm that person with loads of bugles and no idea on what to do with them. I can feel lots of colour combos flying off my beading tray. Great job ladies. xx

Love this Shell Game design. So much fun, Thank you Jill's mother, and of course Jill for showing us how to do it.
A suggestion: when you have a clasp that the seed beads can pass through, use an odd number of beads. That way, the middle bead will sit in the hole and help prevent the edge of the hole in the clasp from rubbing on the thread and possibly damaging the thread (I do this all the time).
Thanks, Jill's mom for the pretty bracelet. Turned out really pretty. Thank you for sharing the tute.
Just a thought on adding the round section of the clasp. If you want to tie knots and then go directly back up without going around I would say to go down five+ beads then knot follow by going down 4 beads then knot then 2 beads and knot to Finnish knots won't block holes
You are so awesome!!!! Best instructor ever. Fun and fabulous!!!! Thanks Jill.
I found you looking for a method for increasing peyote. I find you instructions clear and easy to follow.
Very pretty. I'm one of those that have bugle beads, but didn't know what to do with them. Thanks for the idea.

What is the name of the little lap desk your working on?
Rose Barden that's a 'Bead On It' board
How would that work as a necklace
Scrolling down here it does not look like Jill replies to anyone . Do we just answer each others questions? Confused !
