These actually do exist in many airports in the US. It's normal to walk by unstaffed shops selling snacks and gift items. Obviously there are still cashiers in the luxury shops, but nothing in the video cost even $10 so it's definitely equivalent. Maybe it works because surveillance is generally high, and because people have to have a valid ticket so there are no opportunistic theives.
I paid AU$2.50 for a single orange from Coles the other day. Exactly the same oranges as in this machine, probably from the same farm, but without being transported across the Pacific Ocean and crushed by a machine, and it somehow costs more here.
Dancing bacon should be blamed for not cancelling the noise, cause by now he must know why some us watch his vedios. 😊 and also its not an ASMR channel, it doesnt officially say anything about being one. 😅😅.
@@zerotodona1495 literally is a woman that is behind the camera 🤷♀️. It’s been shown loads of times. If you look it up on google a photo of their face will come up.
That’s because Japanese legal system do not tolerate theft unlike the Soros-funded District Attorneys in some US cities who refuse to prosecute criminals. Case-in-point, businesses are moving out of San Francisco (not the only one with woke DAs) because of rampant shoplifting and organized robberies.
While there's an element of social trust,,, The lack of item scanning usually means there's lots of cameras around the store monitoring what each person puts in their basket -- Hard to steal with that many eyes on you.
They have them in Spain, Put your goods into the check-out bin area and they are all scanned. They were introduced at the end of the pandemic and are found in some clothing and sporting goods stores, where I have used them, and probably other stores as well.
I used something like this at the Moda Center before a Blazers game. You scan your card to get through the gates to go in, take what you want and walk out with your stuff. You don't even have to stop somewhere to confirm what you bought and they just charge your card when you left. There's even a QR code you can scan for your receipt after you step out of the store area.
I love you guys and look forward to watching every video. Please continue to make them. It brightens up my week. I've also learnt so much about Asian food because of you 😊
thank you so much dancing bacons. my boyfriend and I were just talking about you and hoping you would post a new video and you did as soon as we got home and got our food! we love to watch your channel!!
I'm amazed at the shelf stability in Japanese convenience food. I could be wrong but it didn't look like anything in that shop was refrigerated, and it contains pork, fish, AND chicken. Absolutely bonkers to think it's just sitting there (admittedly with an expiration date) and it's still safe to eat.
I love your videos so much, it is so nice to get a glimpse of Japan. I have even made friends by mentioning your videos to them! Thank you for your videos!!
As a Seiko watch collector, I’d recognise that ANA logo anywhere! I have an ANA Seiko World Timer from Japan all the way over here in England 🏴 Shame I didn’t see any watches in that store haha! Thanks for the great video tho 👍🏻
Saw a few already in the US. Like this one usually in the airport post-security. There was a grab and go grocery store that worked similar to this a few years ago, but it closed because it didn't accept cash but opened in a neighborhood where people preferred to pay cash. Fortunately, the kiosk here avoids that nonsense.
Depends where you put them. Big cities..yes..they would be looted in mins. Put them in small rural towns. They would do ok. I am a farmer and sell lots of fresh produce and other things on tables in front of our farm. People take what they want and deposit the money in a little lock box. Never ripped off in 20 years. Many times, I even make more than what I was asking. Left a 100 dollar tip once. Different kinds of Americans, I guess.
Yes the prices are so good it would be considered robbing... ...Oh wait you are referring to that self-check out Yes the law actually gets enforced there unlike *much of the US 😒
Here in the Houston area, everything would be gone within 1/2 hour of opening…..after a week or so, they’d have to close the business. It’s sad that this is what we’ve fundamentally transformed to.
The items probably have RFID tags attached to them. When you put the basket down at the register, the machine reads the tags and charges you accordingly.
As iced tea and lemonade is a fairly popular combination here, and I know a place that has grape juice and lemonade, I wondered if grape juice and iced tea were a thing.
1:10 When the shopping basket is placed near the cashier, the products are automatically entered into the checkout system. Is there a sensor near the cashier to detect it?
I remember seeing several documentaries on this type of store a few years back, advertised as the future of shopping -- Usually there's several cameras monitoring what goes into shoppers' baskets. Some stores would skip the checkout entirely and automatically charge your card as you left ---- Though that would require pre-registering your details to that particular store, so perhaps that's why there's still a checkout in this one.

Japan must be a great place for introverts with all the vending machines and self service shops.
if anything its creating a ton of isolation for young people.

Its certainly going to create a lot of effeciency all the while creating a mounting unemployment issue.
Yeah it's wonderful for us people who hate people.
This will be in all shopa soon think , cheaper than staff I suppose, but I for one would rather go to a self check out then one with staff 😂😂
If we had stores like that out in the US they would be vandalized in no time

Amazon has like 20 of these stores in various cities around the country. I've never been to one though.
