I agree, I love the stability of this career! All of my classmates and myself had job offers from our clinical sites before graduating, which was awesome!
This is really helpful, thank you! I’m applying for school this year and hope to start in August. I’m also trying to be a travel tech down the line so it’s cool to see and hear rain people who are already out there doing it! Can you talk more about the traveling situation, like how you decided where to go, moving situations, contract numbers, RV vs apartment or Bnb, anything else like that?
@@Maniseesbothsides how they gonna tell you what every single patient is gonna do? Lol people have projectile vomited while I was next to their bed trying to place my xray board. I left immediately and said I’ll come back at a better time. I thought it splashed on me 😭😭
To be fair you are far far less likely to deal with bodily fluids besides maybe blood than you would as a nurse or something along those lines. Your job as a tech is very quick. You are in and out in like 5-10 mins. So it’s definitely not a huge issue when doing X-ray. I was a cna first so It was not ever a problem for me but for those it is, think of it like that. You are very very rarely ever going to be stuck in those situations.
You mentioned before that you work in a hospital. Is working in a clinic or an out patient facility physically demanding as well. i am assuming the pay has to be a lot less .
@@SublimeGemini Yup heavy OR, some hospitals have designated techs that so most of the cases but either way you have to do OR in order to get through school.
starting my program this fall, this is so helpful!! thank you!
