    I came to this video feelings the exact same frustration. The first con, that is so on point. The fact that they think they can read all our modalities without training and then not being able to correctly read an x ray in reality is really frustrating. I feel like we have become gate keepers for patients, rather than helping surgeons/physicians, its more like you need to provide an accurate diagnosis in whatever way you can, including being as involved as possible. just so that they don't make up their own screwed up diagnosis for a patient based on their half cooked assessment of imaging.

  • @willzsportscards

    20 years out of training. Love it now. No stress. I would add if you're thinking of doing rads, if you're a 'people person' this is not for you. And if you are an OCD type, you can do this field, but I personally think you will end up torturing yourself with all the 'what ifs'. Need to be able to process things quick and move on .And on. And on. I work in my free time because it's still 'fun'. Thank god. Call as a resident *should be* stressful. You need to learn to make those hard decisions. Guess what? Before you know it, it's like riding a bike. As a resident you don't know when you don't know something because *you* don't know, or if it's truly ambiguous to anyone/everyone. Later on will you hopefully know it's just the latter and deal with it as such.Good luck!

    Hello I absolutely loved your video its definitely making me lean way more towards radiology now. I was confused about one thing tho, You said in the pros section that radiology is a type of speciality where you work hard in the workplace but once you get home you can pretty much disconnect which is nice.
    But in the cons section you said that radiology calls are very stressful and that none of yyou guys get any sleep?
    Do you have to take calls every specific time interval or is it just kind of random?
    Sorry if my questions don't really make sense, I just graduated High school and I'm not really sure how all this works. You earned a subscriber tho I definitely wanna learn more about radiology and your channel seems perfect for that!

    Hi! Thank you so much for making this video, I definitely got more of an insight onto radiology. However I was wondering something about night calls, do you get night calls after residency as often as you do during residency? Also is the pay during residency enough to live on? Thank you in advance!

    How do radiologist or any type of specialist handle lawsuits? Are there ever times where malpractice insurance cannot cover the suit because it was tremendous amount? Can retired physicians still get sued? I feel like this is not talked enough and it should since this profession can be very dangerous because anyone can make a mistake and patients love to sue for anything.

      Thing is, very specialized physicians are usually ok at reading what it is they need to know about their specialized field. Problem is, they know nothing about the rest of what’s on the images and so they have a distorted view the entire study being interpreted. Radiologists are there to overview the entirety of the study, make links between findings (or disregard), as well as comparisons with priors. Radiologists are therefore responsible for ALL OF THE IMAGES. Medical-legally it’s very stressful but its also very challenging and probably the most fun specialty out there.

      Hi! What part of it made you feel that way?

    • @judgehenryallenlaudermilk6282
      @judgehenryallenlaudermilk6282 2 роки тому +9

      @@YashaGuptaMD I do not ''feel'' that way. It is as it is and I observed it. A cursory view of every research done shows more women are enrolled in university and in medical school. Yet the victim-flavoured talk never ceases or even slows down. Nay, it increases! It's almost as if nobody will be satisfied unless and until all men and boys are completely illiterate and dead, and out of higher education altogether. You may not personally be like that, and I otherwise do enjoy your analyses, but that was just annoying. But such is the narrative. Women tend to NOT be interested in things and machinery, as a whole; hence radiology attracts more men. Women tend to be interested in people and kids, as a whole; hence paediatrics and Gyno attract more women. Obviously exceptions abound, but generalities still apply.
      No roving band of males conspiring to box women out. In fact, every establishment I have ever worked at, ACTIVELY seeks females and minorities. I am a man, and a racial minority myself, and I look more like i built the hopsital with my bare hands than a doc, and i live in the whitest most homogenous area on earth. Nobody takes me seriously at first sight, and I stand out like a male kindergarten teacher! Yet, I focus on my mission. I do not have victim mindset. Granted, injustices must be acknowledged and addressed. But this is hardly an injustice. It is a preference. Most females do NOT like radiology. Nobody complained about lack of females when I was working at a warehouse in -35 degrees Celsius. Just seems disingenuous, and leaves young women scared and apprehensive over something that hardly exists, and young men guilty over a non-existent injustice. Anyways. Such is the world. In the end you can say whatever you please. As I do...
