You heard from a friend who heard from a friend who knows a contractor that RetroFoam shrinkage is a real problem. In reality, is it really, though?
Here are the facts.
0:00 - Intro
0:22 - Injection foam does shrink by design, but only around two percent.
0:30 - Not all home insulations are created equal.
1:13 - As trace amounts of moisture leave the foam as it sets, it will lose a little bit of mass.
1:25 - The amount of foam shrinkage is controlled, expected, and designed.
1:48 - Are there foam products with high shrinkage? Absolutely. This is why you should always vet your contractors.
1:58 - If there is a foam shrinkage problem, it is most likely due to an install issue.
2:06 - If there is a foam shrinkage problem, it is hardly ever due to the mixture.
3:16 - There will always be a level of variability with existing homes.
3:28 - Make sure your contractor is experienced and will support you after the install.
