In a nutshell, I ‘m an avid dumpster diver, scrapper, picker, treasure hunter and underwater connoisseur. I prowl the city streets in search of dumpster loot, curbside treasures & scrap metal as well as scour the river bottoms for lost valuables during the summer months when I can scrounge up enough money for gas. Hey Mike, I think one of your reasons for success is your willingness to jump in the dumpsters. Keep jumping!!!
He is extremely thorough in his searches. He gets right in there. No cherry picking there. And the proclivity to go through it all and duly process it all thereafter. Its one thing to fling it all in the back of the truck and its yet another thing to deal with it all again.
@@jonglewongle3438 You are so right and very well said.
@@jonglewongle3438Very well articulated Squire!
the "therm-o-tubes" are for thermal conductivity for the CPU and the Cooler to get the best possible heat transfer
I live in Columbus Ohio and after watching you make so many good scores from the dumpsters, I decided to give it a try . The first one I opened 2 crackheads jumped out of and ran screaming down the alley , the second had 5 people and they were sitting around a pentagram painted on the bottom of the dumpster , and they all had a Cabbage Patch doll in their hand with no feet . I didn't want to find out what was behind door number 3 , so I went home.
Why are there many weirdos in your city?
Just take them and scrap them.
You stepped into a comedy movie for some minutes.
Have you checked out the Columbus police video channel? It’s great.
Try industrial areas
Me: Notification of new video from Mike the Scavenger. Also me: laundry and kitchen cleaning be damned! I have a video to watch right now!
I’d cooked dinner and my wife said “so what are we watching while we eat”…I’m like “new Mike The Scavenger episode” and she’s like “definitely”
Let’s just say my mind was blown 😂

Throw all the clothes and dishes away and by new ones in the morning. Job well done. Time for a beer.

After watching almost all of your content over the last year or so I’m always amazed at what gets tossed out in the dumpsters…. Brand new stuff in the boxes…
My sis lives in Texas and they don't like to resale anything they just put it on the curb or throw it out!
I live about 4 hours north of mike and have literally found train sets worth hundreds of dollars in dumpsters, tons of unopened boxes and it's TRUE we dont resale much but I sure so. Extra money is never bad.
Where your place in texas mike
Me as well. Even the scrap. Like how easy would it be to fill a bucket and get someone like Mike to take it away.
That looks lime sprinkler pipe. Usually carbon steel
Lmao! "It rubs the lotion on the skin" as soon as you looked into the dumpster and I saw that lotion, I knew it was coming!
Or it gets the hose again!!!
@@mucho73cobbcobb95 the dumpster hose 🤣😆😂😜
Is a quote from "Silence of the Dumpsters". Blah hahaha. Directed, video and edited by Mike Scavenger. Needs to be on the red carpet and to win the golden globe.
I agree jumping into dumpster was awesome 😎
mike taking wall studs, whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa 😲
Mike, I love that you close and lock these dumpsters again when you're done.
How to you unlock them? They are all locked in MA
It's always been a passion of mine to watch someone go through trash.
I use to paint dumpsters and roll offs/open tops 35 dumpster 6 open tops a day 6 days a week. Did that for 10 yrs.
“Scrappity do da, Scrappity day”. My oh my what a wonderful day!
I'm thinking new shirt idea for this one!!
Growing up in St Louis my dad made me dumpster dive so he could have extra drinking money. I can almost smell these dumpsters watching these lol.
Mike you are a true environmentalist, not those fancy pants flying all over the world to talk about saving the planet. I carried home a lot of stuff myself over the years and repurposed a lot of it. So watching your dumpster diving makes me giddy. Oh the stuff I would save. But my body is giving out and I cannot jump in and out any more. So you are giving me happy times watching you. Keep up the good work and don’t let those “ this is my garbage cans and keep out of it” idiots get you down. Just remember the FBI also dumpster dive when the need evidence for a case and it is legal!

Early bird gets the worms !! I mean early scrapper gets all the scrap!!!!!😎👍
I thought we shaved their belly with a rusty razor LOL
It’s criminal really just how much finished materials goes into landfill. It’s definitely an eye opener….
I can't believe these stores throw great stuff away instead of donating to the Veterans, homeless shelters, etc
What really gets me is all the cardboard! It's all recyclable. I wish cities and landfills would get stricter with what can and cannot be disposed of!
Yes it is!!! I am a very conservative guy and it sickens me. I scrap too! I have furnished my place with good things others throw away! I would say many people have gone a bit liberal with the things they have and just toss away. If not for guys like Mike, myself-Mike...and others. There would be so much more in the landfill. I work with guys who do remodeling of homes. I always tell them i take anything with metal on it. Usually they set it off to the side of the container. Often times I do check in the containers. And WOW what i still find that would end up in a landfill. Just pulled out about 30 lbs of copper wiring out of a container the other day. Another time the guys tossed 2 cast iron sinks in the container. I said all you had to do was put it off to the side and I would grab it. I could only get the one out myself....about 125 lbs. The other one was buried under so much debris. I was a bit pissed!! As the conservative that I am...i try my best to conserve the environment! Just got my electric bil. I used 45 kwh to heat my home vs the avg similar home that used 1050 kwh! I cannot imagine what their bills are!! IMHO, most people in the US are way too liberal with things!!
I thought pallet man was bad but I give you the king of the junk award, u are good , making me even scrap more.
43:59 thermal paste for putting under heatsinks. Good brand.
I thought it was flux he found, for soldering on circuit boards...or is thermal paste referred to as flux sometime too?
@@Patrickeatsandtravels
" is thermal paste referred to as flux sometime too"
It is not.
That company just decided to include "flux" in the name of their thermal paste, for some unknown reason.
I just found you. I want to thank you for putting this out there for people to watch. I'm going through a hard time and I really needed to laugh. Thanks. Be safe and take care.
After watching other scavengers on You Tube, you just became one of the best, (if not the "bestest".) You deal with stuff most people don't, even though this is a very important part of our lives. Just be careful (as much as you can) with some of the dangerous chemicals you might find in a dumpster. My heart to you amigo, you are good. Greetings from Toronto.
I would love to see a timelapse in which you classify and clean up your findings !! Throwing plastics and bags and boxes and leaving everything organized for a trip to the scrap yard... 😄
God Bless You on your sneeze, or for that matter. God Bless You anyway.
I literally cannot pass a skip now without looking. The words my wife says"Don't you dare". I put a new room in the loft years ago with wood from a skip where I worked.
At the rate Mikey here is scavenging, he'll be the first millionaire while dumpster diving! Keep it up Mikey. I love it.😁😁🤘🤘
when mikes find the jackpot.. his working order goes right out the door.. he picks up what he sees and just goes for it :P
Mike, thank you for using manners really sets the bar to the younger gen and I don't see many people acctuly putting rubbish in the bins any more, so thank you for keeping places you get stuff from clean and tidy as for here in the UK they make a mess then walk away
It is good to see people showing respe ct and heart for MAMA EARTH!!
That dumpster was a workout, full of goodies.
Yea, I admit it ... One of the very best dumpster divers out there for multiple reasons. The best reason is that you don't play around with it. You see it, you grab it, & you clean up your mess.
I agree, No. 1, Best DD no doubt.

It's the pollen in the air bless you son you're making a big difference for our Earth
SWEET A SCAVENGER VID!
That pipe is no-hub cast iron pipe
Mike on the pipe again!
@@mucho73cobbcobb95 lol
Those black pipes are designed to be used in gas lines. They are strong and heavy like hell.
@@JorgePetraglia2009 those particular pipes are cast iron drain waste and vent pipes, gas piping is black steel or galvanized, I was a plumber for 36 years and worked with those pipes everyday.
Hey Mike... maybe it would be helpful to have a large shovel for times like this!! Love watching your videos. Wishing you dumpsters of copper & Gold
I like how you always pick up dropped garbage and close all the doors of the bins.. keep it respectful and security and employees may be less inclined to ask you to leave the area if they see you.. in my opinion at least
For sure clean up. I am in Southern California. You can't dumpster dive hear anymore. It is against the law, and everywhere around me they now lock there dumpsters.
Hey Mike, a lot of that stuff in the first dumpster looks like stainless steel. On top of that, you damn near got a truck load on one stop. Good job my friend.
Breaks my heart to see such waste...well done for cable score!
I agree
Restaurants are the same way.
At many restaurants at the end of the night, a lot of perfectly good food gets thrown out.
32:29 - hard drive trays for PC expansion
38:42 goes on the back of your PC tower to protect the ports
40:10 - replacement part for PC, the dumpster was probably full of a tech's storage for repairs
49:25 - hard drive mount
44:58 - flux, for soldering
keys - probably for locking docking stations
hope that helps for the future
With the sheer amount of the trays and interface card brackets it was likely a server business as those all came off or were for server blades.
Those "thermacoolflux" syringes are actually thermal compound. Thermacoolflux is a brand name, it's not actually flux.
"Flux For Soldering" BWHAHAHA Funny,
Mostly incorrect.
🇬🇧 Those wire fairies are looking after you this week 😉
I,ll say one thing for you Mike, the money you earn YOU REALLY EARN THE HARD WAY, your family can be proud of their father you are not sitting at home moaning like many others No doubt are, PLUS you doing society a HUGE favor in MANY WAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OMG...I love this episode...so many Mike-isms...busted out laughing several times!! THANK YOU MIKE!!!
Mike-isms?? Like what, I missed them, tell me a few so I can watch for them, please.
Good job on the "grill" . Ha that was me doing my impression on that guy we all know one of
Flux Capacitor is what makes Time Travel Possible. good thing you kept them....
Hi Mike realy love your scrapping my dad used to love to scrap miss him heaps but you make me smile and reminds me of him ty buddy.
Love your enthusiasm, amazing what gets thrown out 👍
Mike watch your head!!! Great finds!!! Stay safe and healthy 🙏❤🙏
"Silky and smooth" LOL
Loved the pic” Thanks Guys!”
I have been in IT for over twenty years and that looks like someone went out of business.
Sad
This looks like a normal cleanout to me. It's all accessory pack stuff. With every order from HP you get power cords, slot covers and such in the scope of delivery. Most of it is not needed, so it will pile up in your warehouse.
A lot of restaurants, have” I notice a lot of ii
The bezel/faceplates do sell, even the plastic ones, the keys individually also. One or two eBay sales may have a greater return than the lot as scrap if the dollar is of importance
Good job saving our planet dude! ...and making 💲💰
This one is truly a gift to you! Money money 💰💲⛑🤩🤑🌵🇺🇸
i would definitely check on reselling all that computer repair stuff you got.
A lot of this stuff looks like it came from a shop.
Could sell some of that computer stuff on eBay.
That computer dumpster had so much awesome stuff!! I hope you get some resale value out of some of the stuff too! I’m glad you had another awesome ignite!
Your the best digger ever.
Ductile pipe is what you found . I bends and will not crack under pressure from being buried !
The wire is called Cat5 or Cat5e is because the full nomenclature is Category 5 or Category5e (Enhanced).
its like they threw out a whole IT room
It's common to dump that stuff, you got new one's in every command, you overflow with it
I enjoy watching him, would like to see how he cleans up wire and other things for recycling. #1 is Mike!!!
My cat was watching with wide eyed curiosity.
Hey Mike, to combat the foul odors of your work environment may I suggest that you get a little tub of Vick's vapor rub and apply a little dab to your nostrils👃 when you start your run. Menthol and eucalyptus is much more tolerable. 🤧 Happy Scrappy 🤑
Yes Mike, it's what the CSIs use when investigatng a dead body.
I used to use it when doing cable in nasty smelling houses
Vicks vapour rub is fab 2 mask a multitude of pongs. Cat litter tray is a breeze 2 change thanks 2 vicks.
The Thermocool stuff is heat sink goo. Greasy and useful if you're putting computers together, usually CPU to heatsinks, but other components that might get hot.
@@javakitty5210 that’s interesting
Just found your channel the other day. So awesome, reminds me of my childhood. I used to do this when I was 8 and 9 years old. My dad would take me to the scrap yard every weekend. Loved it
I’m waitin for the day you pop up out if a dumpster and Hollar. BAZINGGGA
It's nice when your livelihood also provides you with an opportunity to exercise.....
I am always surprised by the amount of beverage containers in the trash cans. Out in California those are like gold to scavengers 5 cents a piece.
Always surprised to see so much cardboard in bins My local community is so big on recycling if you take stuff to the dump you have to empty boxes and recycle them. If you try to just throw them in the dump they charge you double.
Thanks for the bedtime story. I pick an ep. to watch before bed, so thanks Mike.
I have been watching you every since you started. I have enjoyable all of them.
That ext hard drive might be a scsi hot swappable hard drive.
Nice finds tonight Sir Mike. Save those empty memory anti static containers.
Your computer person might be interested in them.
Chip handlers. When I dismantle servers like the old raid systems from Sun you might be surprised what is in them.
All those empty aluminum cans are worth saving and adds up.
I could do with a memory upgrade mike lol
Sorry, all he has is an empty box for you.
@@shawbros wait thats what ive already got lol
Uni-bit ... idk why I'm watching these but I'm hooked lol
“Slayed some dumpster ass” 😂😂😂😂
Could you do a video with your tech guy just trying to fix some stuff you bring in
19:54 Mike, you literally made me sneeze.
Me too!!!
Bless you
Sneezes are like yawns, I guess
hi scapulas and pallet man
Cast iron pipe
Thermo cool flux is what she used to put in between a CPU and the CPU cooling fan that goes for at least eight bucks a tube. Really nice find! Your computer guy will know everything that you’re going through right right now what the specific names are LoL 😂
love your sense of HA HA lol
All those in favor of Mike being number 1 scrapper on UA-cam say "I"...
I say I!
EYE!!!
Category 5 wire has 4 twister pairs of wires. The number of twists in each pair will cancel out the interference (cross talk) of the neighboring pair. Cat 6 may have different characteristics to accommodate the higher frequencies of emerging technology.
I just love when you get a haul like this👍👍👍👍👍🇬🇧
You have an electronics guy who repairs stuff. Wouldn't surprise me he'd be very happy with all those computer parts.
Well I love watching your videos mike I have learned a lot and thats what do me in to dumpster diving.i came across an open top last night and peeked inside and thier was a crap ton of #1 and #2 wire I was so excited I pulled my truck beside it and jumped in and wouldn't ya know it I landed in a pile of maggots I was not a happy camper but I did get all the scrap. What was your worst dumpster diving experience?
Ohhhhh...HELL NO!! YIKES ALREADY Eric T.!!!♥︎
!!
Yo mike, you been making a lot vids lately. You still working the other job or scrapping full time?
BBQ pit = BBQ GRILL Open Top = Roll off Whatever. Call it what you want Mike, it's your channel. If people don't like it then they don't have to watch your videos. 🙂🙂
Just keep on doing what you do, making great educational and entertaining videos. Hundred thumbs up to ya my man.🙂🙂☺
Bless you Mike.
Why are businesses so wasteful? No wonder the price of EVERYTHING is so expensive, we have to pay for poor inventory control and bad planning. Or an even sadder scenario is there are a lot of businesses going out of business and just throwing everything away.
And the sad part is even the foundation to donate to are so unreliable.
Bro that's when you need to open a box and then get on your knees and just fill a whole box up that way you're down below hidden from everyone grabit and go get all that stuff
A blind squirrel can find a nut every once in awhile but damn you find some good stuff brother I'm so jealous I took my load in this morning made $177 with wasn't bad only have like 400 lb of billing metal and a bunch of aluminum windows
Everything from Beavis and Butthead to Silence of the Lambs all in one dumpster!
The picture you found...."Thanks guys"....🤣🤣🤣🤣
driving back home and all them stainless slot things flying out like a million little knives as he passes a motorcycle gang doing 75 jammin to Ratt
I stumbled on this channel about a week ago, and I've been up until 2-3am every night watching them. Any videos of you bringing the stuff into the scrapper? Your camerawork and editing is fantastic!
Hey , yea he does a run to the yard like once a week or so . great channel
"A memory upgrade"...
...I forget when I last had one of those.
Gotta love the fuzzy rainbow crocs
You've got BOXES, put all those little bits of metal in a BOX - sheeesh!!!
35:46 were you actually gonna take a sip? hahahahaha
Brand new Weber in the dumpster. Makes me cry
I work in IT. 90% of what you found was all for server racks. Someone cleaned out their data center or were leftovers from a new server rack install that they did not need or want. The Dell/EMC stuff were server fronts for the servers in the rack. They look brand new & are expensive. Most of the misc. hardware was for server rack cable management. They keys were for the servers so you can physically lock them. Great find! :)
Thanks for explaining what you do with the electronics.
your videos give me vitality
Hey Brother Mike, did you know that all those different discs have metals in them? Hobbyists, teachers and such will buy them from you so that they can refine them for the silver and whatnot. Also on most of those ink cartridges is a little green connection chip. You ought to pull those too. People process those for the gold and sometimes the copper.
"Heh heh heh, slots." -- Mike scavenging jokes while he scavenges cords.
