It’s a cheese knife bud.
Y do u leave what u call flimsy stuff it's weight.i scrap and in just over 3 months I grossed over 10,000$ by taking everything and sorting
@John Lawson that's still not that bad
@John Lawson but the way scrap prices are I'm just stock piling now
That Liebert cabinet was probably an air conditioning unit for a server room.
HI MIKE. I'M 82 YEARS YOUNG AND I HAVE BEEN WATCHING YOUR VIDIOS SINCE I DISCOVERED UTUBE. I JUST WANT TO SAY THAT I'M SO PROUD OF YOU AND YOUR WORK HABBITS. YOUR KNOWLEDGE OF THE STUFF YOU COLLECT IS AWSOME. I FEEL AS THOUGH I KNOW YOU AND I WOULD BE SO PROUD TO HAVE A SON LIKE YOU.!!
All caps are so annoying.
@@uspatriot7484actually folks like you are the annoying ones! I hope you make it to 82 yrs of age ...
@@uspatriot7484no u
@@uspatriot7484he is 82 and your bashing him 😂 what a loser
LOL.... Mike takes it out of the box and says "let me find a box to put this stuff in.".... Love it!
Iam SOUTH african the staff you get in those bins is like treasure because over here some people dumpster dive for a living, I wish i was there, anyways good job love your channel 🇿🇦
Mike The Scavenger got me back in to the scrap game. His energy is grate n makes u want to go out n get some scrap. Every video is motivation to keep me hopping in n out of these “treasure boxes”!!! Keep them coming man!!!
The pan with the lid goes on the “chafing” stand. It is for keeping food warm at the table. Pot is hand made copper. The bar set, it has a citrus knife. Great finds!
Mike....are you saying "chigger".for the double sided measuring item? I think it is called a jigger.....1.5 Oz for the large one and
75 Oz for small one.
Love watching your videos and yours are the only dumpter diver I watch. Remember...work smarter, not harder: that includes pulling Dottie/Betty up as close to dumpster as possible when you first pull up to the dumpster. You are having to get out of dumpsters, pull the truck closer, then get back into dumpsters.....wasted time and energy. 😊
When I'm having a bad day I just tune into Mike!! Punching the trash bin gets me in a better mood!! Thanks Mike!!!
Mike watching this is highly addictive...
Completely agree, I watch Mike every day while I eat dinner
Another great dumpster diving episode. Thumbs up and thanks for sharing your experience. Yes you can balance like a cat without a tail.
Dottie is such a good catcher!
Yes!!! a scrap run to start the year off right!! woooohoooo!!
its just joy watching you go through the bins and scoring the goods! the knife is to cut lemons and limes oranges for different drinks that use rhines and slices. the copper stuff is chafing pots and pans probably antique. used to hold stuff warm on a serving table back in the day with candles underneath.
The copper pans are usually lined with tin. It's very, very thin, but can be renewed. Very much enjoy your videos Mike! Hope you keep doing them for a long time! Thanks.
Gorham is silver plate. Olive knife to get them out of the jar for your martini. It’s all old English copper pots.
Gorham EP is electroplated nickle or brass. But, Gorham is a good name in silverplate, and has value on eBay. And Yep, you're right, gonna rap yer knuckles for breaking bulbs. Those bulbs are nastier than they seem. Careful breaking the them very often, EACH contains about 3 to 46 milligrams of mercury. When you go for your next doctor's appointment, get a mercury and lead levels test....seriously. I get one periodically. Just to scare ya a bit, got this from the net regarding mercury: "Chronic exposure by inhalation, even at low concentrations in the range 0.7-42 μg/m3, has been shown in case-control studies to cause effects such as tremors, impaired cognitive skills, and sleep disturbance in workers" . You know the term "Mad As A Hatter"? Hatters used mercury in the process of making top hats...the hatters went insane from breathing mercury vapours. Scrap safe, man. Want you to keep making new videos, and not ones from a hospital. Ya got a lot of fans out there wanting you to stay healthy.

Yes, I’m just now seeing this episode two years later, but I’m going backwards and watching all your stuff. I discovered you thru an episode of The Scrap & Pallet Man when Paul recommended you.
You did find a treasure trove, and by now you know so too. Great Find Mike.
I thoroughly enjoy you and your adventures. Bless ya! 😇❣️

HEY !!! That was a Gorgeous piece of smoked glass. It would have made a Fantastic table top. 😊🙏🌈
Hey Mike fellow diver and welder, in Florida that emt conduit you keep bending is going for 15.00 each in 10 ft peices at lowes, might think about that for your next yard sale
I was given a large amount of that conduit from an construction company when they got through building an apartment complex here and thats what I did with it, sometime you have to take off the scrap price blinders and look at reality supply and demand. Why scrap it for $0.10 lb if it is still good when you can sell it to someone for half of what the big DIY home centers sell it for. and come out way better off in the wallet. Same holds true for several of the many industrial electronic control panels and so on he finds. Some of the panel mounted buttons can go for a pretty penny on the second hand market like ebay. I had to replace one on a device here and on ebay the cheapest panel mount indicator that was like the one needed was $45 and was from China. cause the original manufacture was no longer around. So you pay the fee and get the thing to get back to work.
FYI, those sticks of conduit that were full length were worth between 4 and 10 dollars each depending on size. You might get 20 30 cents per stick for scrap. Those pieces would have sold quickly at a garage sale for much more than the scrap price that you received. Just something to think about... The big box is part of a uninterruptable power supply for a computer room.
It is amazing how much you have learned since this video!
Laught out loud .. when u punch the dumpster haha .. withe sounds 😂😂😂👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
سلام
Cool. Great job Mike 👍👍👍. Please take care and stay safe.
Love your vids lol got me looking in my local dumpsters for interesting stuff and scrap keep it up you always give me a good laugh with your commentary even when I've had a complete craptastic day
Nice haul there and well we all know what follows a nice haul...... Scrapyard run!! Yayyy
Gotta be strong! :) The bike is fun but I also like seeing you throw stuff into the truck.. great aim!!! :)
Abselutely love these vids been watching them along time ⏲ never had a thumbs up yet but with over 300 thousand subs 👍 can't blame him lol 😀 👍
I also think you need some boots lol 😂
Nice score on the copper pots nice job
Maaaaaan this makes me miss my truck so much!!
Began with a simple Ford Ranger and within 2 months of scrappin, doing eviction cleanouts, and listing on Craigslist for haul aways made more money than I did the previous year..
Wow! I kick myself every day for getting rid of my truck!
Take the center panel off of the florescent light boxes that hide the ballast and you can remove the bulbs easier.
GLAD TO SEE YOU TOOK MY ADVICE!
WORK SMARTER NOT HARDER!!
Smiling!
Like you magnet out of an old hard drive I believe.
"Let me just find a box to put this in" having just taken everything OUT of a box! Sometimes I shout at Mike. I can't help myself.
Good job.
the little knife "thingy" is for cheese and sliced meats ( summer sausage and such)
What a great dumpster dives hope there's plenty of 🤑 coming your way, let us know how it goes with the copper stuff 👍
Mike,
Thanks for the vid. Stay safe.
We are lucky people!! A lot of videos from Mike this week!!
Very cool find Mike!!!
Silver plated items are usually on brass. The copper is tinned on the food contact surfaces to prevent contact of acidic foods from eroding the copper. Keeps the consumer of same from eating excessive copper in the process. Check the box over for the lid, check the dumpster for another unopened white box, I think you may have left one behind.
You should borrow scrap & pallet man's snap tool!!!
That 5 piece bar set is quite valuable . I would put $75 on it . Vintage barware is hot right now . if it has a makers mark it may be worth more .
Enjoyed your video. God bless you and be safe 😊
The metal conduit you can make a few bucks by selling it to joiners and metal workers and welders as they use it for their clamps. Great video bud thank you.
Awsome diving Mike. Great finds👍✌🖖
3:02 You are the most professional in your field😎
Mike you Rock. You find some cool stuff. Happy Scraping. Your Buddy Topshelf
I guess it pays to look in the box Mike! All the barware etc. was definitely a lucky score. If you decide to sell any or all of it, hope you get some good money for it. Good luck with whatever you do.
Liebert "Lee-burt" in floor air-conditioning and self contained air-conditioning. Usually used for server rooms the cool thru the drop in floors. I recognize the frame immediately. My DAD worked there in Columbus Ohio and used to bring that stuff home all the time to build stuff out of.
I found a similar size cabinet in a big skip once. I recognised it immediately as a danfoss VFD motor drive.. Was absolutely rammed full of copper..
"Back on the pipe"🔥😝😂😂👍lol bet that pipes gonna be glowing tonight🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Pots and kettle are copper don't clean or scrap $$$$$$$s nice little find ✌️🏴 SCOTLAND 🏴✌️
Like sempre.
Parabéns pelo video.
Fique com Deus..
mike from buffalo n.y. just wanted to say whats up to a fellow scraper. rock on brother.
Greetings Mike. Looks like you brought your A-game today. Let's fill up Dottie. Be safe, healthy &blessed always
The way you throw things into your truck you might think of finding a back window protector!
Thought he has one?
Good find Mike. Don't scrap the set. Up it for the resale. Worth more. Good job.....
Hi Mike glad I can be of some use to you finally after sooooooo many videos watched 😉
The EP stands for electro plated, so it has a thin coating of silver, probably over nickel.
The "antique" is called a Spirit Kettle, used to keep water hot for the tea pot too-up in the UK.
It is indeed pure copper (great heat conductor) but without the lid 😧 not easily resellable 😱
By the way Mike, where did you learn to throw so accurately? At the Scrapacadamy☺️
You were right the first time it's like putting out candles I used to have a whole bunch of them in the antique store they're found the late 30s on up to the 70s
Mike you have reflexes of a NINJA
Brilliant video as always mike and every little bit of wire helps.
He works hard for the money!
Mike you are doing a great service by eliminating so much waste from our landfills. The bulbs are HAZMAT and should NEVER be in the dumpster anyway.
It makes me sad when I see them being disposed in dumpsters and not properly recycled they contain mercury! In Maine I properly recycle them by bringing them to the local hardware store and it is free!!
Mike, I've watched hours & hours of you diving & one thing I can tell you. The way you are jumping in & out of those dumpsters, your knees when you get older are going to be shot. I am 60 & had to do a lot of jumping off of things & I am going to have to go in 2 months for full knee replacements. I love your video's though!
Yep, I played a lot of basketball during junior and senior high, and now at 63 my knees hurt everyday.
Felicitaciones te seguimos desde Uruguay un abrazo grande.
Hiii...mike&white DOTTIE dumpster,stay safely.
I want that copper tea pot it looks so appealing to me
Bend those long poles by using the side holes or brackets of the outside bottom of the dumpster. Maybe bring a Sawzall sp? for the big stuff
When I was scrapping I loved dumpsters that kept on giving I miss those days I'm getting back into it once I get my prosthetic leg and a vehicle
Hope you're alright bro.
Some of the copper pots are worth $100 or more... easily. Check into that Mike.
Mike the man with scrap the the the man with the scrap! Repeat
Looks like blue noodles,LOL.
The last copper pot is probably a lid/ double boiler for the copper pot that has a handle. And the silver basket weave bucket is electroplated silver plated. The tarnished silver tray should have some kind of makers mark or numerical mark on it
Them boots waz men in their be for you 🤣
Hard working fellow❗️
Nice run, I wished it never ends :)
19:06...my wife says "thank you". 🤣
You should keep a tool box and power drill for disassembly of things like that shelf.
Amazing wire haul
Wife bought some copper cleaner called bartenders friend that works great.I was impressed 👍
13:45 You totally just raided somebody's stash they were planning to come back and get later! 😆
When people make negative comments; it aggravates me. If you want to be negative then don't bother to watch.
Microwave 1 lights 0 that was funny even if it was an accident. 😀 Sometimes things don't always go the way you plan it. Jim's wood shop.
The nutcracker was an excellent design. Very popular in uk in the 70’s
i would take all the antique item's to an antique shop and have them put on consignment$$$$
Hi Mike. You need to look up that Gorham piece. I looked them up and they have some expensive pieces.
Copper antique
C'est fantastique 👍👍👍🌹
The pots and kettle are all copper lined with tin inside. They lined them with tin to stop you getting poisoned when you used them.
The copper ware is not "lined with tin" as copper is not poisonous...copper plumbing pipe is very common in the better class of work, but it is costly, although it lasts literally forever. Also notice that the kettle wasn't lined with anything, but you could see the green corrosion common to copper exposed to acid, such as found in citrus fruits. The only hazard would be from the solder used to make the kettle, and this would be minimum, especially when the lead forms an "patina" after being exposed to water, which acts as a barrier to actual top the lead in the solder. Solder typically has 60% tin and 40% lead, but varies with the strength requirements. Back when those were made, nobody ever considered that lead could even be a hazard. Copper still isn't.
Neil the copper pans are lined with tin. Have a look. It’s something to do with the heat. When you are cooking those pans get really hot.
Neil I just went back to look and all the pans are lined with tin.
Gorham EP = electro-plated [whatever] Can be nickel, can be brass, whatever. 40:50 Lemon knife I think, or garnish knife anyway. I drink ... seltzer water. Your copper kettle is legit and probably straight up antique. 42:38 It ain't - it's half of a plated vegetable dish. They have lids to keep the food hot. If the interior of the other copper pieces is intact, they can be polished up and put right back to work. If it isn't, they're decoration.
DON'T POLISH!! Destoys antique value.
a shot and a jigger. olives and red cherries used to come in jars with lids that you had to pry off. . hence the opener on the olive fork. I'm thinking that may not be a nut cracker, but an opener of some sort.
Awesome
I would've brought all the antique wet bar stuff to antiques roadshow.
Great video!
Pull up closer everytime 💕
love it
Awesome Dive be safe
Hey bring you a cordless sawsall and you can cut the big stuff up in smaller pieces.
I always use the hitch on the back of my truck to bend that long conduit
