In 1994, we sung this at an interschool swimming carnival. Suffice to say that the marist brothers that ran our school were incredibly displeased. That memory of this prayer helped me through some dark times both as a soldier, and after when I tried to find my way in the world . I'll let you know if I find my personal answer
I love it when boys sing a Marian Song. And this is one of the most beautiful Marian songs…..’Under Thy Patronage’ .. putting themselves in Mary’s care and protection!!! How beautiful! Here’s the song in English: ‘We fly to thy patronage, O holy Mother of God; despise not our petitions in our necessities, but deliver us always from all dangers, O glorious and blessed Virgin. Amen.’
Thanks for this - The Champagnat spirit. A Marian song sang. I remember wining the Governors cup in Wewak East Sepik Prong PNG, and singsing the song after vitory. Very emotional at times. LOVE this.
I went to joeys and it always annoyed me that this hymn was degenerated like that. Rugby is a popular sport, it’s not suppose to be the religion. Mary deserves better
