Great podcast. Yep, "pie plate" sized groups aren't acceptable to me and I expect to hit the exact spot that I'm aiming at. And when I'm not achieving that...I keep shooting until I do. :) The Masters of the Barebow series is an excellent resource for help with form and seeing different shooting styles. You can order the DVDs from 3Rivers Archery.

Hey I've been recurve hunting and shooting for 2 years now and I'm gonna hunt this coming deer/bear season exclusively recurve spot and stalk. And I've been thinking lately about eventually getting a compound bow to do some hunts with. Do you think the recurve helped you quite a bit before picking up a compound? I've never shot an arrow out of a compound bow but I've been traditional recurve for 2 years of consistently shooting And can make pie plate groupings out to about 25 yards.

Yes I believe it helps, Other then the first time I tried a compound the guy that was helping me could not figure out why I kept hitting super low. Then he asked me if I was looking through the peep? And I was like "huh? You never said anything about that!" Hahah I was using the tip of the arrow to aim and not using peep and pins. Once I did it correctly it was much better.

Sounds like the one guy aims and the other guy is more of an instinctive guy

There is two ways to learn. Somebody say (in this wideo) that learning only good shots by shooting good shots. I learn by making mistakes. You can do 1000 mistake and compo of those and end of the line i hope there come out sensei (😂). That what i lean in two years on trad archery. I allso think that now its all mental and focuse. When you shoot good groop next one can be ofull. So mental kicks your buuut. So i have my joy from that i don't think anything. No form, no anchorpoint, no release. Just target, thats MyTime.
