Hi Tom, I have Yamaha RX-V485. I am facing a issue where Receiver doesn't connect to the router in the 'wired' mode. It does connect in the 'wireless' mode perfectly - no issues here. I have checked for the faulty cable and the router ports. Both seem OK as other devices when connected there work Okay. Any suggestion what could be the issue? Thank you.
Did you change it to "wired" in the settings menu?Selects the network connection method. Setup menu “Network” > “Network Connection” Choices Wired Select this option when you want to connect the unit to a network with a commercially-available network cable. Wireless(Wi-Fi) Select this option when you want to connect the unit to a network via the wireless router (access point). NOTE For details on the network connection, see the following: ▪ “Preparing for connecting to a network” (p.29) There are several other network settings possibilities I won't get into, but you may need to manually set an IP address as it may be trying to use one that is already in use by another unit on your network.
@@AudioTomReviews Thank you, Tom, for your response. I tried setting up the IP address manually by choosing the wired connection option and turning off DHCP. I provided a new static IP address while keeping the same subnet mask, default gateway, and primary DNS address as shown in the wireless settings. However, the wired connection still doesn't work. The new IP address, subnet mask, default gateway, and primary DNS all show as (0.0.0.0) in the information window under the wired connection. Do you have any other suggestions I could try, or is it fair to assume that the network card might be the issue?
Extremely helpful, THANK YOU!!! I have the RX-V585 and the USB, Bluetooth and WiFi functionality does not work at all. Could it be as a result of the unit thinking that it is a different model as per your video and if I run through the procedure as explained would it reset my receiver and remove all of my existing settings?
I think the 585 is different and this procedure won't work. I think the menu choices are different. You could try updating the firmware & look through the troubleshooting procedure in the manual. Can you please give me advice or should i just trash it ? Thanks..
Try a factory reset (google how to do it for your model) and or firmware update. Make sure all the speakers are active in your settings. Does it work on pure direct? If all else checks out, it could be a bad DSP chip, replaceable, but may not be worth it. This video gives the DSP test procedure. ua-cam.com/video/hwnU7zkvn0E/v-deo.html
the service manual says "When the DIGITAL P.C.B. or IC82 on DIGITAL (1) P.C.B. is replaced, this unit will display “Internal Error” and will not operate properly. The model name MUST be written to the backup IC (EEPROM: IC82 on DIGITAL (1) P.C.B.) to have proper operation. (For detailed procedure, refer to related Service News or Service Bulletin. Or contact your local Yamaha representative.)" That is the procedure in my video. Did you toggle from "PCB" to "model" before trying? PCB will only show info, model is unlocked so you can change it. I need your help, I have a Yamaha RX V573, it suddenly stopped working one day while functioning and when I tried turning it on it blinked a red light like it went on standby mode.I gave it for repair, they changed an ic which was short and tested it it was working fine, but when I brought it home and connected it to my speakers, it worked for nearly 5-6 min and then died again, until now it has been repaired 7-8 times but the ic gets shorted every time. I am fed up. What might be the problem? Any guidance.
The blunt reply is you need to take it to someone who knows what they are doing (or maybe they just don't care). The fried IC is a symptom, not the problem. It could be anything, capacitor, resistor, diode etc that is likely feeding or drawing too much voltage or leaking AC into a DC supply etc. It will take proper testing and investigative work to track it down.
Also, make sure none of your speakers or speaker wires are bad or shorted. That shouldn't blow anything out, but would put it into protect mode until the problem is corrected.
Thank your sir for your advice.i have the same internal error.i followed to you ther internal error gone.but after main power disconnected error coming back again.can you please advice.
Sorry, I missed your question. It seems to me this error will arise after the unit has been unplugged for a while. Reset it, then leave it plugged in for a while, or even leave it playing, then see if the problem returns.
Hi sir can you give me some idea .. i have rx-v475 model my problem is surround effects are distorted and crackling sound .but in direct mode it works fine i already replaced the DSP ic but the issue is still occur.. thank you sir
That's beyond my abilities to diagnose, but check your basics. Does it Happen from all inputs or just the HDMI, Does coax or optical work ok? Try to narrow it down. It sounds like a solder joint may have broken, and they are sometimes hard to spot. I have 2 videos I will publish in the next week or so with loads of bad solder joint issues. That's just one of hundreds of possibilities.
@@AudioTomReviews thank you sir all inputs also have same issue with crackling sounds.. and i also test it with optical in and direct mode has crackling sound .. thans for the idea sir🙂
@Audio Tom, I have a Yamaha RX-V567. Every time I switch it on, it Displays "Mains on" and switches it off. I tried to Factory reset it to INIT----ALL and then Power off. When I Power it on again, it is the same issue and INIT would be back to CANCEL. Any thing I am missing to successfully factory reset the device ?
Sounds like a short or internal failure -it's protecting itself.First thing is to disconnect everything from the receiver and see if the problem goes away. If not, it's internal, then you go through and unplug one internal module at a time to see if the problem goes away to narrow it down, but you must know what you are unplugging so you don't cause more damage. Look for damaged usb port, other jacks, something fallen into the unit, pepsi syndrome...

It could be an internal failure, but many times it is external. First thing to do is disconnect everything including the speakers. If the problem is still there, there is an internal failure or short. Make sure nothing fell inside, check that a USB port isn't damaged (common). If the problem goes away with everything disconnected, then connect one component at a time and see if the problem returns. Most common problem is bad speaker wire or bad speaker.
