Great review judge and don't forget russels 13 has much older whiskey in it. Batch 3 has 20yr, 18yr, and 14 & 15yr whiskey. Batch 1 and 2 are 13 and 19 year. Russels 15 supposedly is 15 and 16 year whiskey.
Agreed
@@DavidG-f6t is that official or just rumor?
I got a 15 year last Friday at my local grocery store liquor shop St Paul, MN east side suburbs for $228.99!!! Opened it and it is going fast.
Slooowwww down!!!! 😆
@@DwayneCohen-ms2lf at that price you can gargle it 😀
I'm like you, the FOMO business is long gone! I'm very happy with the Rare Breed and the Russell's Reserve Single Barrel. I won't say that if by a strange chance that I should find it on a shelf at MSRP, that I wouldn't be tempted but, I'm not disappointed with what I can find and afford very easily! Great show as always! Cheers!
👏🏾🥃
RR15 is the most expensive bourbon I've bought but not the most expensive whisky, so FOMO got me.... But to justify my purchase, it is cheaper than getting a GTS or a Pappy 15 in my area. I personally don't like Campari pricing, but what can you do when secondary groups and online stores force the market in the wrong direction...
I don’t fall for FOMO. Most of these bottles are just too expensive so they are a pass for me. Are they good pretty sure they are but again to pricey for me. Glad you got to try them. Enjoy!!
A great review! I am hunting for RR15 because I loved the RR13 batch#2 so much so I got two bottles at MSRP.
Hey Judge - I agree - the 15 is much better than the 13. Way better viscosity, big waves of flavors that change over the sip and a much better finish.
Worth the price difference to me, especially at MSRP.
Fair.. cheers
I don't FOMO, but with your review of RR13, I'd likely buy one at a decent price. I felt burned with the RR Camp Nelson release (it has fans, so I am okay with that, of course) so I'm wary on quality versus dollars spent with RR special releases. Your RR15 review kind of reinforces that. With FOMO, my favorite releases on my shelf are those I was not specifically hunting for. New subscriber, cheers!
Had a pour of RR13, though it was one of the best I’d ever tasted at the time
I understand the 100.00 difference is a big factor however you must consider that RR15 is not an annual release and if we ever see it again it won’t be for a few years
“That Turkey Funk”. Love that term…. lol. Cannot describe it but it is there. Great blind Judge. Cheers!
Russell’s 13 is no longer findable in my area of South Florida. I have been able to find the 15 for a great price so I bought it. I always appreciate the honesty in your reviews.
Big daddys in Hollywood had some
For me, Fomo has a price limit. Anything above $220 kills the Fomo for me. WT/RR, Especially as it is not one of my favorite profiles.
Sadly in my market the RR15 is going for 6 Benjimans. I'll just keep buying RR SiBs.
Nice review! I was not a fan of 2023 RR13. The spice kicked in too quick for me and I couldn't appreciate the front as much as I wanted. I had a sample of RR15 and said "I don't need to get it for that $$$". I was comparing it too the Rickhouse (from recent memory) and the Rickhouse is just phenomenal. Of course, FOMO kicks in and I bought the RR15 for $260 cash OTD. I need to crack that bottle and sit down and enjoy it.
Fair enough!
Tried the 15 at a bar for 40 bucks. Was it good? Yes it was very good. Did it make we want to go out and spend $250+ for one ? No it did not. But if you have the money, hey more power to you.
I really like the 13, and I would probably pay up to $300 for this. But I would have to find it for that first. Cheers Judge
Indeed 😂
Appreciate the review. I have only heard rave reviews on RR15. I probably won’t see this bottle so no FOMO for me.
Thank you for doing this!!! I freaking knew it couldn't have been $100 better than the 13....and with just two more years. What happen led to the $10 per barrel year!!😢
100% agree 250 is too much and on secondary I have seen 1k in stores. I tried RR15 and while good it wasnt great. RR13 is discontinued so I get the hype for 15 but I can get 3x Staggs for 1 RR15 so not worth it.
Sounds delicious, but anything these days over $150.00 is not worth it for me. Cheers 🥃
Love me some Judge and would love to find of bottle of either of those.
👏🏾🥃
Well done!
Ty 👏🏾🥃
Love the t-shirt, Judge
Thnx
Better; yes but with the $100? Tough call. WT continues to jack up their prices on these bottles 😢
Love the quick blind Judge! Have yet to see either one in the wild. Curious decision by Campari to price the 15yr $100 more for a two yr added age statement. I for one feel like their suspect pricing will be hitting Rare Breed & Kentucky Spirit sooner than later.
Either one is so hard to ever find. For me if I find the 13yr or 15yr it is a must buy because they are so elusive.
I fell to FOMO and overpaid for a 15. Ironically the 13 is so much better for my taste preference. That 2 extra years added to much oak for me.
Ahhh interesting
I'd take either one at SRP but so far, I haven't been able to even find 13. Someday someday.
I paid over msrp for RR 15 and I don’t regret it for a second.
I am a Turkey fan... jealous of your recent WT barrel tasting. I have both and looking for a good excuse to crack them open. Thanks for the review.
Thats awesome Robert, crack em both and let me know
I haven’t had 13, but I’d like to try it. I only see it at secondary prices though, which brings them in line with each other price-wise. I do have 15. In that case, I’m buying 15 everyday and twice on Sunday if I could! 🤑
Lol
I would love to have the 15
But $250 is steep
I’ll just keep nursing My Russel’s 13
No doubt
I have neither the 13 or 15. Where can i get them close in MSRP? never i guess.
Lol
Gobble Gobble!
Delicious! 🤤
I heard somewhere that they were not going to release the 13 this yr so people would buy the 15. Is that true?
Perhaps but there are still 13’s out there…
Here is the thing Judge. While it may not be $100 better you can’t find a R13 for under $250 so the price is moot. The R15 are out there if you hunt and a 3x better buy than WT Triumph. There aren’t a lot of whiskies that compare to the dusty nose of R15….but so many ryes that you can get for half the price WT triumph!
Oh UA-camrs and price is always moot. They speak in msrp like that matters while banking on connections to secure their bottles. Pricing is a meaningless metric when worth is subjective and it’s a luxury product.
and you won't find a RR15 for less than $450 lol
Nate you obviously missed the point. I do not own the 15 nor do I see it in sight. Lol ytubers, at least myself dont get everything buddy… relax
@@jrlanger42 you can find it for less that 450 lol
Watch your Costco. It will be 200 there
Will do
