8th Street exit of I-10 in Banning. There some nice little lakes or ponds along this drive. Another few miles past Idlewyld and you would come into Mountain Center and Hwy 74,
Thank you. This was like a parting gift for the old year and a gift for the new year. Thank you for your generosity and for a lovely trip and compelling music. I look forward to future videos. You do a memorable job. Best wishes to you and yours for a healthy and prosperous New Year. Should Auld Acquaintenance Be Forgot, etc.
Happy New Year, Richard! I have a lot of places yet to go for this year, and I am looking forward to taking you along with me! Watch this space for the next adventures!
Since I was a young girl going to camp,to teaching and taking adult classes at Idyllwild Arts, it’s like my soul just takes the wheel on 243. Thank you for sharing this amazing Hwy drive so I don’t have to focus on the road! If you only knew how often I commuted from Pasadena to Idyllwild on 243 in the middle of the night in the 80’s during summer meteor showers! 😎🤘🏽
I’ve driven this road once from Idyllwild to Banning and loved how the scenery and vegetation changed within a few miles. The descent into Banning was pretty hair raising as we weren’t expecting to be on the edge of the cliff going down lol. But a breathtaking drive and as usual you captured all its scenic beauty well with your footage and awesome music. Happy New Year!!!
My chihuahua and I just took this ride in November. I would love to be a passenger and not miss all the beautiful scenes. The road is excellent and lots of turnouts. A bit twisty..lol.
Hey Scott firstly let me say Happy New year to you and your family, just a quick message hoping you have avoided any of the terrible weather California is having at the moment, shocking to see.
Happy new year! As i frequently point out in my videos, we have amazing weather here in California. From time to time we get a little too much rain all at once. We are in that mode as we speak. Personally I have stayed dry, and safe from natural disaster. We do have a lot more rain coming at us here in a couple of days. My home is not in any kind of flood basin, and the river about a mile away is managed by the local water district has not overflowed in 100 years. We will be fine, and thank you for your concern. The hard part is I haven't been able to capture any new video for 3 weeks! Too cloudy, raining. I'm going crazy because I have all these places I want to go, and the weather everywhere is not right yet. Here's to a ride along soon! Cheers!
That's good news for you and your family Scott,as you regularly say we need to look after our planet and I truly believe all these extreme weather events are because of our complacency and our expectation that all will be well, any way definetly looking forward to the next time along, keep well Scott.
If you come up here to play in the snow, please be respectful of our little village. Don't come up here in your car without chains when you don't know how to drive in the snow and ice. I have been hit more than once by tourists who come up here unprepared. Don't walk down the middle of the street like you are in Disneyland and give me the finger or swear at me because I have to drive up that street to get to where I need to go. Don't park on the side of the road over the white line and impede traffic. Don't throw your trash all over the place and let it fall on the ground because the trash cans are full. Don't trespass on people's property and curse at them when they ask you to leave. Don't block our driveways or go sledding on our driveways. We don't come down and use your pool without permission. Don't let your kids sled ride on the side of the road where they could get hit by a car. Don't park in the turn outs and have a picnic. Someone might actually need to pull in there because they are having car problems or a flat tire. Go to the county park or the nature center to play in the snow. People actually live here and we have to be able to get around town doing errands, shopping, going to the doctor, getting our mail etc. The town isn't just for the benefit of the tourists and I am tired of having to deal with the aftermath.
Thanks for the guidelines, Storybook Sounds. As visitors to a community we need to be respectful of the local rules, the land and its residents. If visiting this area please, behave as if in wilderness areas and LEAVE NO TRACE of your presence. Take your trash back home with you, and travel safely. In snowy or rainy months always bring chains, mountain weather can change in just minutes so be prepared.
@@ridealongwithscott Let's just hope they listen. I doubt it though. Forgive me if I sound bitter, but all these people flocking up here is really affecting the people that live here in very negative ways. Most of us move up here to get away from crowds and then it ends up that we can't even get a parking space so we can pick up our mail. I have a friend who has had people knock on her door and ask to use her bathroom. She has also been threatened when she asked a group of teenagers to please get out of her yard. It is getting horrible and people just keep promoting it more and more. Eventually, Idyllwild is going to be ruined. Our neighborhoods are being decimated by AirB&Bs and no one seems to care as long as they are making money. .I am expecting we will have huge crowds this weekend with all the snow we got and I am going to try to take some video of the damage tourists do. If I can even get into town that is.
Yes, it is against the rules to fly in wilderness areas without a permit. None of the areas I am flying the drone in are wilderness areas. I use FAA approved apps to check all airspace before I fly. Thanks for watching, and submitting your comments.
