  • Video teaches an easy strategy to start winning more pickleball rallies right away. Specifically it shows how to stop hitting out balls! An out ball is a ball that would fly out of bounds if allowed to do so.
So, I’ll show you how to stop returning the ball when it’s going to fly out of bounds.

So many pickleball videos are flashy and produced. This isn't, yet it's probably the best one I have ever watched. Love it. Thank you for taking the time.

Heavy topspin will allow hard drives to land within the court while heavy underspin will tend to float the ball long. These spins effect the trajectory of the ball.

You are the best teacher! Appreciate your taking the time to do this. First tournament ever coming up for us(mixed doubles) in November. Will study more! Thanks so much.

The reason this is a good skill is because in order to execute it, you do nothing, and you can't make an error doing nothing - the easiest way to win the point. Also, when someone bangs from the baseline, you have more time to decide whether to let it go. The decision when they are at the kitchen is harder because it's a split decision but you should base it on the players tendency hit out balls, their windup, a crazy look in their eyes, intuition, and the actual contact they make with the ball. It's an art more than a science but the general rule of shoulder high, let it fly helps - the counter to that is a shot with medium pace shoulder high can land in, so you really have to make a contact decision on the speed of the ball and adjust accordingly.

Great video and one I'm going to take to heart. Thanks! Suggestion- you might want to place a link to your book in the description or as a hotspot to click in the video. I'm going to go look for it though.

Joe Baker. Seems like you stole a page right out of my book, lol! Very nicely put together and presented.
Most people, rec and competitive can easily follow one simple rule. If you're in backcourt, knee high can be out. If in mid court (no man's/woman's land) waist high can be out. If at the kitchen line, chest or shoulder high can be out. Reading the trajectory of the ball is a bit harder depending on the pace on the ball and your anticipation quickness. Thanks for this video!

Wish I had a quarter for every out ball I see hit back on the volley!

Dodging balls is the easiest way to frustrate bangers. After they see you dodge balls they really fall apart.
