Enjoyable video. I recently picked up a Leicaflex SL at a good price to compliment my original Leicaflex. As you mentioned, the viewfinder is second to none. I tested it with a roll of old Soviet Svema film, low ISO and got some amazing results. I am amazed at the affordability of the camera. I own a few Leica R lenses and cannot say enough about the experience. I too will not take out the camera if it is raining or may get damaged; I have a couple of FED2s that are reliable and could probably fall out of the sky and not get damaged.
Thank you! I absolutely love the viewfinder of the Leicaflex SL and it's still the best I've ever used. It's crazy to me that you can get a Leicaflex SL for almost the same price as a Pentax K1000 or Canon A-1; granted the price for the R cam lenses is pretty steep! There actually was a Leicaflex SL2 MOT that fell 8000 meters before crashing into the sand and was still operational, although it sustained some damage.
@@AleksUsovich That is an impressive record for the Leicaflex. In terms of cost, my understanding that initially Leicaflex cameras were rather expensive. About fifteen years or so ago, the demand just tanked and the prices went down by more than 80% virtually overnight.
I woukd be nervous about carriying a Leica on water. Good to see you are enjoying ownership of a high quality Leica camera in addition to basic Soviet cameras. A refurbished Lexus LS460 needs a Leica as an accessory. 😊 As always, a very informative video!
@@robertcuny934 I was super careful to make sure that this Leica didn't go swimming with the fishes. I love my Soviet gear and also enjoy the cheaper less universally loved Leica cameras like the Leciaflex and Leica R mounts. I could never ever own a Lecia rangefinder!
@@AleksUsovich I never bought Leica due to lens prices. I have a Salvation Army $6.00 Minolta 3000i maxxum with 35mm to 80mm zoom for hazardous duty.
Great video, very informative.
@@Ruben-kc8hy Thank you!
