Truth. They rarely speak it in a movie.
I hate when people of the classical styles generically label any live training curriculum as "sport training" and claim that it only teaches people how to fight with rules.
The alternative to that is hypothetical training, where people just memorize moves, get certificates, get titles, and never learn by doing. And then they cover it up by calling it, "self-defense" or "street self-defense".

What a powerful message, I wonder why this remains dark to many instructors and traditional martial arts. I had an interview with him recently and the wisdom is just inspiring. Is there anything out there which can contradict this? This is brilliant!

I have been involved in martial arts for 30 years.I agree completely. 1 criticism need to watch the language. You will find a part of society that will shut down because of some things you say.Your message needs to reach, women, children and the weaker people who get bullied but your speech scares them. They are the ones who need this but sometimes as teachers we need to present a subject so they can desire our product. Keep up the good work. They will come. Ex Deputy 5th deg Black Norm

I'm inclined to agree with you, Norman - I'm a big fan of Matt T. and Straight Blast gym , but your point on language is fair. The very people who might be most in need of help might be turned off.

Matt's gym has 50 locations worldwide and tens of thousands of affiliates and members and has produced UFC world champions including the biggest MMA star in the world, Conor McGregor (who literally fights like Bruce Lee's perfect fighter described in the Tao of JKD textbook) so I don't think he has a problem communicating and reaching people

Everyone who trains competing Mixed Martial Artist should incorporate Matt's theories. They are sold and practical.
