Mary was there for the pastor she even let him stay in their house when he was feeling down and also help him meet his future wife, and the pastor just forget their friendship like is nothing in the latter episodes
Agreed, I hate that Jeff just kicked Mary out of the church after Georgie gets Mandy pregnant, when it was no fault of her own, like he'd simply forgotten everything she'd done for him.

John is such a sweetie, even though he doesn't like loud, noisy casinos himself, he's willing to put his dislike of them aside for Connie's sake. He's quite a keeper. 😉💕

This episode had a lot of great moments, some of my favourite:
Particularly how Sheldon and Missy worked together and helped Mary with her church work and raised a lot of money for the church shame they didn’t get any appreciation for it. Sheldon and Missy would rule the world if they worked together more often.
I miss Connie and John being together.
I remember being happy for Pastor Jeff finally meeting Robin and with Mary’s help marrying a woman who did actually love him and they had a son together. Sadly, now - and I think I speak for many of us fans - my respect for Pastor Jeff has fallen a lot with where the show is now.

It also showed us a real unfortunate side of Connie.
Mary did so much for this man then he turns around and treats her like trash. I officially hate this character!
@Reghan Bruh the church preaches “forgiveness” and the old proverb “A son shall not pay for his father’s sins, nor a father for his son’s sins”…….that’s absolutely hypocritical of them to judge her based on her son’s actions! A parent can steer a child in certain directions, but they cant make them do exactly what they want! At least not a good parent….you’re tripping if you think that isnt irl christian hypocrisy

Poor Pastor Jeff, even though Selena ditched him, he eventually found a new wife in Robin the policewoman, who genuinely loves him. Though I'm salty about how he treats the Coopers in later seasons, after all they did to help him.

When I first saw this episode I felt bad for Pastor Jeff, now that we know what he’s become, Selena was right, he is a loser. Mary and Connie are doing the right thing not their wasting their time on all his ridiculous hypocrisy.

Pastor Jeff is kind of a terrible person, and I wish someone on the show would tell him that. The Coopers, especially Mary, were there for him when his life was a flaming mess, but he threw Mary under the bus real quick when things that were beyond her control got messy.
Mary has helped pastor jeff with everything just to kick her out of the church after Georgie got a girl pregnant out of wedlock
This is one problem of same "excessively zealous" groups, people are expected to help each other, but the moment one breaks their rules, he is cut off cleanly. Pretty good portrait in my opinion.

I never saw this episode! Find it ironic (not really), that later in the show that same pastor attacks the family over the video store and Georgie's child. Just goes to show that people will turn on you no matter what you've done for them.

Judging from his recent character development in season 5 and 6 I think he deserved it.

You see Selena in the beganing of the episode. Younger, immigrant women, much better looking than Pastor Jeff. She married him to get her green card. He like married her for the same reason he married Robin, he found her very attractive and wanted to be able to go to bed with her without going against the Bible.
