What a MAGNIFICENT looking Sago palm :-) thanks so much for sharing your tips and tricks for these palm beauties Brad and sending heaps of love and happy growing for a FANTASTIC Sunday XXXXX
I enjoy your stories! It makes your videos personable, not just dry facts. Thanks for taking the time to do these.
Great video - thank you! I just re-potted my first Sago palm. I’m laughing because at the end of your video, the transcribed text at the bottom of the screen showed “psycho palm” instead of “sago palm!” 🤣
Mine is growing in the garden and is probably 15 years old and has only started to put more growth on now, no flowers or seeds yet and now I will move it as I have a dog that likes chewing on plants. I have just checked it and it does have scale so there's another job to do! Your stories are OK, when you have a garden and not much knowledge it's handy to have someone to listen to.
I have one of these in the front of my house in Florida. Anyways, the one plant I have sprouts mini plants like this by the dozen every year. The main plant is huge and grows at an incredible rate.
Rice Panday You have a female SAGO..She needs her pups to be removed..That's what they call your Sago palm tree's new growth. Awesome!!
it's beautiful my mother-in-law told me that if I wanted the baby ones around hers I took them in I'm looking forward to see them grow beautiful like this plan thanks for the information has been very helpful
I like this sago palm is healthy 👏👏👏
Thanks for the video. Just bought one of these and I appreciate the info.
Thank you!! You are so adorable and passionate about plants and it warms my heart 😊💗
I like your stories
🐛🦋🌈💕💋
Just got one! I fell in love 😍 when I saw it!!
I bet it fell in love with you too... haa haa.
Love your stories!
Thank you for this great clip on your chanel 😃👍 good wish from Austria 🌲⛰️🌲😉!
Very informative!
Beautiful plants,nice information 👌
We grow them in our garden here on Salt Spring Island. Cycas panzhihuaensis in our garden. Less cold tolerant we grow Cycas revoluta as well
I like to story thank you
i HIGHLY recommend planting then in the Ground. Not keeping them as a house plant. They can tolerate temperatures down to 5F.
WesleyAPEX I'm confused. reading, one said no cooler than 55 degrees. Another said 34 dgrees. Finally, someone said 20 degrees. And your saying 5? I'm just curious.
Greg Simpson my sago palm survived 8F this winter!
Greg Simpson they’re leaves will turn brown but they’ll send out new leaves in June here in Texas and they can tolerate temperatures to 0F from my experience
Greg Simpson i wish the leaves wouldn’t turn brown in the winter and if we have a warm winter here in Dallas they won’t turn brown but they survive 0F because they’ll send out new growth once a year to replace the old growth
@@gregsimpson621 Hi! As my grandma used to say...men know nothing about plants jajajaja so please....keep your sago palms in your house...and every two years change the soil...and they will be gorgeous and healthy....mine 10 are inside the house ...but in the spring they go outside....until the end of the fall...get gorgeous pots...don't save money lol...this way your plants will look 😍 awesome...and again...men ...nah...unless is a specialist ...they know nothing about plants 😜 I wouldn't take an advice ...car wise from a woman jajaja see? Is the same...😛 Anyways....I'm sure you know what to do lol 👻
My sago is about two years old now with huge growth on its second leaf set. The base is getting bigger in the past few months, so I think it's about to grow a third set. I keep mine in sand and loose soil. Seems to like it. Very, very tough plants. Mine also had a nasty spill a while back before I repotted it in the sandy soil. It did fine and now is so heavy it doesn't wobble in the wind at all.
Whats the name in brand of the sand and soil you use on your sago plant
Your stories are great. Thanks for the care tips.
You must live in the north. Here in the south, my two inground cycads are monsters with trunks reaching about four feet high and the fronds topping out at six or seven feet with at least a dozen pups growing under each one. From what I can tell, I only get one ring of fronds per year, but it is always a big ring with 20 to 30 fronds. On one of the cycads, I just sawed off two branches because it was becoming a multi-headed hydra.
Canada
good👍
How did you got rid of scales problem and what do you feed it with to grow. I have a really small one and would love some tips. Thanks your help would be very much appreciated 😊
Great video I just purchased one thanks for the knowledge of the plant
Beautiful.
+Journey Soul Thanks!
I would love to plant a few of these outside my place. Hopefully they get really big
Haven't had mine that long, but it became a spider magnet. I had them hiding on other plants, but they seem to love the sago
Nice palm bro.
I have a product called “Systemic Houseplant Insect Control” (made by Bonide) which I have never tried, but since you said the Sago Palm is a bug magnet, I’m going to put some into the soil as directed. I have noticed some tiny fruit flies in the house and I think this plant may be the source.
Stunning
The leaves of sago only develop wel in ful direct sun( not behind glas). The difference in size in this one is to much because of lack of light, the needles aren t spiky enough and the leafs look fluffy, i m not trying to be harsh, but i know this because i experienced it too with my sago.
Put it next flush in ful sun and you l get a more typical sago leaf!
What soil mix did you use when you repotted your Sago?
I was thinking of bringing my sago over for a play date but I don't think it could take that much ruff housing ! ;-)
I like your story! Nice tips.
Robin Hrdlicka 💕
Great video. I love sagos
i have a small sago palm .. all the leaves turned yellow and died, so i cut them off .. i didnt have the heart to throw it out 6 months ago so i left it in a pot behind the house .. i watered it for the heck of it about a month ago.. all of a sudden i have 2 leaves coming out of the ball ... lol .. i really thought it was dead
To clean my palm up from Lowe's, should I snap a few of the dead leaves off? There's around 5 or so tan ones out on the branches. 🐀🐾
Abit late but any reason and what action I can take for my sago palm it grew one new massive leaf this year
If you keep this in full sun it will grow smaller leafs. I had one outside near my garage but died in the winter. I had no heat in my garage where the plant was in the winter :(
You will be a go to for me and my indoor plant forest. Really enjoyed this video. Thank you! Looking forward to all your vids.
my Grandmother has a plant which is coming just over a meter now. We have a good climate for these and it is outside in the garden
woah! first comment!!! you mentioned getting more than one growth a year; that was mind blowing for me to even hear that. how do you do it??? my sago is somewhere between your two sets of growths in size.
How would you treat scale if the sago palm develops it ? Would the treatment be the same as rose plants?
Thanks for video. In sumer time when we can irrigated Sago Palm? In week how many times we can irrigate? Thanks in advanced
I just bought this small plant in a pot but it’s winter ❄️ in Maine can I plant it into the ground in spring bcs I don’t want bugs in my house
Brad! Im Sasha live in Michigan I have two of them small planted outside last June last year and throw a flower house tent over this winter today is Jan 20th looks like I'm having new fronds coming out and its double in size it's growing now over the winter want to see in the spring my first video will come this year!i have windmills, blue yuccas , bananas, opuntia cactuses , more kind of bananas with no protection at all! Looks like they love it up here in Michigan
Sata Giuricici That's impressive!! Seriously!
I have one of those... I can't get them to grow new leaves. I lost 2 rounds of new leaves for it. It seems that I don't leave it enough sunlight. So, for people looking to grow it, keep it in rich, indirect, sunlight.
What would be your advice for a sago palm growing from seed I’ve it in a tall clay pot outside
what fertilizer are you feeding it?
Can they take direct sun from an east window?
I have five fronds sprouting on my cycad right now.
I would like to know if my 2 large Segos are alive after our last extreme winter in Texas. It’s now end of April and the crown is still brown with no apparent new growth. One has 2 pups with new green growth, but the mother plant doesn’t. I see other Segos in my neighborhood with green new growth on the crown. Should I assume mine are dead? Is it possible to have alive pups from a dead mother Sego? Please advise.
good evening, I wanted to ask the precise name of this beautiful palm?
What do you do to get rid of the scale?
Hi I purchased this plant at Lowe's yesterday what can I use for the bugs?
Neem oil
Over here sago palm is a bloody huge palm tree. Probably can only fit in Kew's greenhouse. Never knew this type of cycad is called sago palm. Quite common in Malaysia.
is dunking a good idea for watering sagos?
I have 2 sago palms and one has yellow on the tips of all he leaves, any idea what causes that?
Hi Fioan, I think you might have Asian scale. Done some research and the organic cure for this is by applying used coffee grounds. Use as mulch in the soil as well as pouring it on plant by seeping the coffee grounds in water. Google coffee grounds on cycads. Interesting read.Your local coffee house will probable give you their used coffee grounds for free. Try Starbucks.Good luck.
I will look that up, thank you Sandra 👍
My sago palm cycad turning yellow please help
What was the soil mixture you used?
Love cycads
What is scale?
Yeah that is something he should have explained more.
Your story was good, your ability to take care of plants is great, but it sounds like you were trying to kill your Sago Palm so you could resuscitate (thanks to spellcheck) it! :)
please help!!! my cycad is dying. it has a meilie bug infestation. i dont know how to save it
How do I treat scale or ants? How to keep them away in the first place?
Randy Rosiello right he never said that or really gave tips. Nice plant though 😊
What name of manure sago palm ???
What kind of soil do they grow best in ?
Carrie Densley sandy soil or compost.
Wonder how big she is now
Great video, thanks. I've had a Sago Palm indoors now for a couple of years. I know they are very slow growing, but I haven't seen any growth at all! absolutely nothing. I re-potted it recently and the roots are healthy and seem to be growing. I have it in my bathroom directly under a roof window.I did have it in a very large deep pot. Does the Sago like to be root bound by any chance?
Hello, I'm in a similar research hole, and so far I've seen that they do best slightly root bound/bonsai style
Thinking of keeping it outside in the Summer, we live in the Scottish Highlands where winters can be harsh. Maybe a few months out in the summer might be enough to trigger some growth.
"I worked very hard to get him as good as he is", then goes on talking about how he tortured the poor plant so that it lost a lot of leafs..
Why the leaves are soft? Isn't it should be hard like thorns?
I think the japanese sago palms have thorns...also i'm not sure what the difference between male or female cycads is
Flowers? Seeds? My Sagos are 12 years old and I've never had flowers or seeds! 😳
Dee dee u have a male sago
+Dee Dee Moore you need to check with a expect as sagos should have seeds +Ruby Wilson both male and female have a elongated pinapple type shape seed,, the male has flat seed which if you get early and dust into bag you can polinate the female which produce elongated seeds but red in colour , if you like I can send you photos if you message me...
I am not sure how old my two are as I have only been here 5 years but the male has had seed for a couple of years and I noticed the female this year, WHY, they are in different place in yard not near each other.... There is a third one that was in pot and which is now in front yard so will see how long before seeds.. and I have a baby
The cycads are awesome.. and with nice pruning make awesome shelters to sit under in summer or winter to have breakfast or just a cuppa and enjoy the view. :)
Very slow growers . I had mine for 20 years before it produced cones or flowers .
That's not a Sago palm, but some other Cycad. With a Sago, the leaves are much stiffer.
I think it’s just the growing conditions is a normal Sago palm
We will agree to differ on this one, Gordon.@@gordonissocoollike
Hey friend, the pot is too small, that's why the fronds are out of proportion
28 seconds in and I can’t deal with guy saying “sigo palm”
Wow holy crap plants were so cheap 10 years ago. Here I am in 2021 spending $30 on two plants.
You are driving me mad. How do you look after them, not your history. Fed up, cheerio.
I have mine as my center dinner table😱 close to a widow were the sunlight is there almost the hole Day..so for the Toxins it can be dangerous!? Is little is a sago bonsai and is growing new leaves I want to know how to keep it little if its posible or I have to change the pot.
janeth valenzuela what is temp in your home. have the leaves turned yellow?
No,, they still the same the new leaves that were growing my husband cut them😏 and the plant hasn't grow and still the same well it looks like kind of getting dry
janeth valenzuela thanks for your reply i will continue to try with mine
I bought a sago palm from ikea this past summer and it just keeps yellowing. It was green and lush when I bought it but now it only has a few green leafs left. I live in the north of Sweden and it's starting to get very dark now, but even during the bright summer it yellowed. I don't water it a lot. What could be wrong? I always cut the dead leafs.
And it hasn't grown anything
Light seems to be very important to them. What kind of light are you keeping it in? Also, is it direct or indirect sunlight?
they need a lot of water until well established, so if it's new you have to give it plenty of water. I often find if it's in the ground (not in a pot) that watering with a hose or watering can above soil level just causes runoff and doesn't penetrate the soil well. Try installing drip line irrigation for slow watering which penetrates the soil better and more evenly. Also don't forget to mulch your soil manure, leaves or composted wood chips is a good choice to promote a fungal dominant soil....and about the yellowing it's caused by a lack of nitrogen those plants come from environments with rich soil so try adding sand & compost, leaf mould or worm castings to your soil and fertilize every few weeks with liquid seaweed/kelp & fish emulsion
sorry I gave this thre thumbs down because you talked more about your pot falling over than the care. my plant is going yellow so I wanted advice . but never got any. poor video.

"psycho" palms?
say-go... not sigh go....
Too long of an intro.
Waste of time learning 😢😢😢😢😢
Please go straight to the point 😅😅😅
Too long too boring
This is a Cycas Revoluta , not a palm. Calling it a palm is popular ignorance.
shnimmuc wanna know why people also call them kangi palms?
Quit using the term palm, these plants have nothing to do with palms.
