if i remember correctly the only one needed to be restored is io's in order to get the true ending, the others you'd just need to collect every vestige around. the reason why we save him is because we need to have saved at least 1 successor in order to fight virgin born and just so happens that he has the least amount of vestiges and they are quick to find (all the other areas also have skips unlike ridge of frozen souls)
