I use the same heaters as you, ( super cheap from Walmart)
Preset to 78f But mine alternate from 78-81 from time to time
Do they do the same to you?

Mainly just top ups. A big part of why I’ve transitioned all my 15 gallons to shrimp tanks is so that it’s easier for me to maintain them while also keeping with the household things😊
