Hey everyone! Today we're taking an in depth look at the Serek Lincoln, one of Serek's coolest models! It's always a pleasure to play a Serek, and this bass is no exception. Featuring dual serek singles nested in a comfortable classically styled body, the Lincoln brings loads of wooly fat tones with the four different pickup modes (series, parallel, neck, bridge). Let's check this beastly bass out!
This bass and all my other basses with rounds are strung with SIT Foundation Nickel Plated Stainless Steel 45-105(125) unless otherwise noted. Check them out at sitstrings.com/

Hey! I'm in the video! I adore Serek, and the Lincoln just seems like best of many worlds. It's been my number 1 bass for about a year now, and I have no complaints. Gorgeous on every level. Love to finally hear it here in Lobster's hands and have more people see what masterfully made basses Serek is putting out.
It sounds/looks like the result of a three-way between a Gibson Ripper, a Rick 4003 and a P-Bass. Absolutely love everything about this bass. What a sound.
Exactly what I thought!!
The sound is great but when seeing lobster play the bass it reminded me that it has no thumb rest or a pickup case acting as such. I'm so used to playing P- and J-basses and use the pickup case as a thumb rest. I think this is something that should be somehow easy to customize on a bass (don't know how though.. would be the job of an industrial designer :D)
@@johnsausage If you really need/want a thumbrest on your bass, try to make one yourself or buy one on ebay or at any basses selling shop and fix it on your bass yourself or ask someone you know to do that or give it to a shop which can do that.
@@johnsausage Not sure what you mean as you could still rest your thumb on the serek singles pick ups whilst playing? Most people I have seen playing the Serek Lincoln seem to do exactly that. Unless I'm missing something?
@@johnsausage sereks are custom built so im sure the builders would have no problem installing one for you if you dont want the hastle of installing one yourself. also i think it would look great on one of these vintage inspired basses since so many vintage basses such as ricks and old fenders ised to have them.
I was the member of the Discord who posted the Reverb link! I'm really happy that I could help make this video happen, even if it was by accident lol the more Serek demos the better!
You rock! Thank you again! A happy accident indeed, I'm very glad everything aligned
I bought this bass bass from you on reverb!
That is how a bass is supposed to sound.❤❤❤
I feel you on that Stanley Clarke tone, I started working on school days album about a decade ago and still working on it 😂🙈
So life is just a gaaaaaame and there's many ways to play. What a great album.
You had me at "So woolley you could knit a sweater"!🤣
I believe AMP's is 34" scale. But I've been really digging 32" lately. Keeping an eye out for one of these.
Love these modern designs with throwback inspiration. Sweeeet bass.
Dude! I’ve had three Serek’s, currently own the one I had built for me, and they DO ALL SMELL THE SAME! There’s something about them haha. Love them!
Another awesome job! I wish I could afford a Serek....
Since it gives you Stanley Clarke vibes, you ought to play "Lopsey Lou" since I've heard so many people refer to it as "lobster song"
Looks "Ripperesque'. Good to see you Lobster
Rippenbacker
I don't remember a review where my face went 😯 within 3 or 4 notes! I've been gassing for a Serek since I first saw/heard them, you're NOT helping, lol. Thanks as always for the fun reviews :)
Lobster, as a huge Warwick fan, I'd love to see a Warwick on the channel some time to see what you think. I have a bubinga Corvette Standard 5 string and absolutely love it.
Thanks Jonathan! I used to have a Thumb NT 4 that I modded with EMGs a looooooong time ago. Probably around 18 or so years ago. Got it for a STEAL at guitar center second hand. Talked them down on the price because it had a few dings, but they didn't know that you could iron out the dings on the warwicks with a soldering iron and a slightly wet tshirt. I miss that bass haha
@@LowEndLobster yeah, that sounds similar to me. Saw this Corvette used at a store for about $800 and had to have it. Now, a new comparable warwick is nearly 2 grand.
@@Toospoonbig283 I paid around 1200-1400 for the used Thumb 4 NT at GC, I feel you!
Damn it shocks me how versatile this thing is, the bridge isolated is so close to a stingray
If you could ever get your hands on a Peavey Cirrus BXP4, that would be a cool review to see. Got one used some months ago and I like it a lot, though it is admittedly pretty heavy I think. Was about $500 for it, and feels great. Think I like its extra long scale more than a normal long.
Wooo! It’s got the Hondo bucker! Best possible pickups😂 great vid brotha 🤙🏽
Website says Starting at $2,700. Better be outstanding. That price can buy a lot of top of top USA made instruments.
They absolutely are!
This exact model with same specs is at $3,475 now.
Those bass sounds are incredible, the looks and aesthetics is beautiful and amazing but the prices on these Serek''s are a bit pricey! Thanks for sharing bro'r Lobster!
I challenge all viewers ( Blind fold yourselves and just listen to the basses reviewed on this channel ) to find a better sounding passive bass with this tone. Note: This is my 1st exposure to Serek basses. Lobster, Thx for reviewing non-standard basses.
Thank you! I gotta say I was really impressed while editing too.
They sound so amazing!!! Great video!! It’s funny you mentioned the smell, I absolutely love opening up my stingray special bass cases they smell sooo good!!! Lol
Serek has a new Lincoln out called the L3 with Reproduction pickups from a Gibson G3 sounds incredible.
God I love your reviews. I want every bass you review, and then I realize what I really want is your bass chops!!!
Next video review alembic bass plisss.....
That's a nice tone. Serek is doing something right. He is thinking differently. Nice playing LEL.
That bass sounds good even watching on my phone.
This is one bass where I actually prefer the Bridge PU as opposed to the Neck PU.
New subscriber. Thanks for this. Makes me think of a Gibson Ripper, except it looks and sounds better.
Well, in Polish "serek" is a diminutive form of "ser" which means cheese. So when you say it smells delicious I know that it's not gorgonzola or that disgusting blue moldy stuff ;-)
I love how the editing made your cat disappear. That tripped me out for a second 😂
Wanted one of these for a few years now. I blame Hondo Felder entirely and he's very proud of this I assume lol.
Cool bass. It has that Gibson vibe...
This bass is TASTY
That weighs 3 pounds less than a Les Paul
It’s kinda Dingwall-y xD
Hi, have you tried some Midwestern 2 of 5 string? I am always afraid that the Sereks could have some neck dive? could that be possibly? regards
What a great Bass guitar 🤯🤯👏👏...very interesting pickups..could be a good idea to put a serial parallel switch to a spb3 pickup🙄🙄, it is also a very hot sounding pickup wired only in serial and I paired it with the sjb3 bridge pick up hmmmm 🤔🤔🤔
Cool style I will forever miss my '74 Ripper which was stolen. This beauty might benefit from the type of impedance switch featured on the Epiphone Jack Casady bass.
This sounds amazing.... tempted to get a quote on a 5 string 34" scale.
Oh man I've wondered when you'd get one of these!
Fabulous. Jake and his team make some tasty basses!
Man o man she's a beauty! Close to perfection. Were I in my gigging prime (and not the owner of over 30 basses) I'd be getting the debit card out.Good show!
I have a Mahogany body/neck Armitage with a reverse Norstrand Power Blade. I'm waiting on a fretless walnut version due next month. I love Jake's basses.
Maybe some day?? Looks ands sounds great with many tonal options. I never thought to smell a bass or noticed any differences in their smells? (other than some who have been gigged heavily in smoke filled bars).
When you were slapping, I was thinking, "Sounds like Stanley Clarke…" and then… 😂
Great demo! The series/ parallel configurations are very reminiscent of the Gibson Ripper. The Serek has the edge since you can actually solo the neck pick up and there isn't that useless out-of-phase option the Ripper has! Thanks again, Lobster 🦞👍
A little confused about the strings...your notes say "strung with SIT..." but the video says that didn't happen. Can you at least say whether they were flats or round wounds? I just put flats (EB Cobalts) on my Lincoln and it sounds fantastic! Love the feel too. Thanks for the review...your interview with Jake along with his unbelievable customer service convinced me to take the plunge without every seeing one in person. I love supporting craftspeople like him (and your channel too!).
Thanks! It's a copypasta that gets thrown into the description. This bass did not have the SITs, but 99% of other vids do. Congrats on your order!
@@LowEndLobster Thank you my friend and again, so appreciate your reviews and your genuine enthusiasm for the basses and tones you dig! But...were they flats on the Lincoln? :)
Nope, rounds
That’s a good sounding bass. 😎👍🏼
nice bass. could you please do a review of the Fender JMJ signature mustang road worn?
Pricing for the Serek Lincoln starts at $2700 USD before options. The standard strings are the DR HiBeams. Great demo.
Almost bought one of these when they had two for sale used as CME, but I was a little hesitant to buy a bass at this price sight unseen. I liked the idea of the 32" scale on it too, but just a little bit of reluctance on my part to part with that much cash without playing it. Can't complain about anything with this build.
Nice Shirt !. If SInbad could grant me three wishes, I wish for this bass.
Ahahaha so glad you got the reference
@@LowEndLobster Of course !, wish for Sinbad to admit what he did to us all : ).
Sounds great ! I have a Armitage 32” with a guild bi sonic pickup and yep its killer like this one.
Vintage thickness and attitude for days! I also like how rolling the tone off doesn't stifle the punch.
💥👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻Fantástico 🇧🇷👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻💥
Great looking & sounding Bass Should be a permanent resident in your stable of Lowend Stallions 🦞
I thought the Serek review was deep .. then I saw the Shazaam Truther shirt. Next level.
Looks like a Gibson Ripper. Sounds like an EB0. Ha!!! 🤣
If my EB-O sounded like this, I'd be so happy hahahaha. I really do want to try a 'real' EB-O from the 60's!
@@LowEndLobster HAA!
I really like these basses!
That sounds nice, but for like 4 grand it'd better
it's a great bass guitar with mellow tick to thin tone range sound perfect.
what a great bass
Sounds amazing. And looks good too. No complaints here.
Love the disappearing cat. :D
That bass looks and sounds really good. Like everyone else is saying it does remind me of Gibson.
Whoaaaaaaa! Like, the cat just disappear! 😳🤣
even with the tone down it sounds great. the neck looks kinda short and the slap sound is great 👍
To me 32" scale length basses still feel like basses , sometimes shorts do not.
This bass looks a little like a Ripper but Gibson does not even know what those are anymore😒
Bassists: “it’d be so awesome if Gibson brought Grabbers, G3’s and Rippers back into their line up.”
Gibson: “Best we can do is more Thunderbirds and SG basses…”
Two parts wool - two parts mud.
Right? The single pickups sound vaguely like a P bass but thinner and with hum and they're so close to each other that there isn't enough variation unlike a Jazz bass. Together they are cool but very dark even in parallel. Flats would sound terribly dark. Really not my cup of tea unlike other Sereks.
I love the nod to the grabber pickgard style
I always feel bad when I see these used at GC, since they probably got half of what they resell them at.
I cannot imagine selling a Serek.
That thing sounds great!
Great tone on all settings. I approve:)😁
That shirt is killing me
Lets goooooo
I love the look and sound. They're not cheap either! priced out
It's a bit of a bummer I'd love to own one but the price is out of my current range
Woolly as a mammoth indeed.
I want to see a G3 Serek.
They ain’t cheap
So much fun!
What a cool bass. Love it
Why do these sound so stinking good I don't get it
I need to get a 5 string version of one of these in my hands someday
Sounds good!
I was surprised by how bright the bridge pickup sounds, I guess I expected it to be redundant given how close together they are, but the difference is actually pretty noticeable
Thanks! I think they might have different winds with the bridge one having some more winds (just a guess, I don't know for sure)
@@LowEndLobsteryou are correct with the winds.
omg....so UGLY basses...!
Gibson's lawyers just called. 😁
Probably out of jealousy.
Omg do some sabbath
These kinds of basses are so gimmicky and trash it’s a waste of money. You’d never use this in a studio or hell even a jam session. Nothing a P Bass can’t handle.
''these kinds of basses'' ..if you had ever played a Serek Lincoln bass you would realise just how misplaced your generic comment is. Top quality build, playability and sound. Nothing gimmicky or trash at all hence the high price.
For real, terrible take from James
@@LowEndLobster this comment was almost a year ago. I thought the bass sucked you think it’s good. Let’s agree to disagree.
@@jamesreynolds4487 It was almost a year ago, but making a broad statement about a type of bass and implying the use case for everyone is a bit different from saying "I don't like this". I missed the comment but I saw the recent reply.
@@LowEndLobster While the reply was (generally worded) comments on one’s forum generally come from one’s personal perspective. Thus I refrained from meticulously wording my assertions. I apologize.
